AL-QAEDA says they are preparing a new attack in the United States on the scale of September 11. Read the article here. (http://www.thecouriermail.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,6400801%5E1702,00.html) Just wanted pass on the info. Scary!

I see. Well, I'm not worried.

Is this being reported by any other sources? I'm asking just because I haven't heard of the one linked. But, anyway, on to the issue at hand...

The goal of a terrorist organization is to incite terror. This can be done both through actions and through threats. While I'm not dismissing this as an "idle threat" by any means, I think we must remember that this is coming from people who's goal is to strike fear in their enemies.

The best thing we can do at this point is to live our lives, and hope/trust that the government will be able to protect its citizens. That's not to say that caution should be thrown to the wind, but we cannot cower in fear at the threats of terrorists. If we do, then their goal is accomplished. The best thing that an individual can do is to stand up to the fear the wish to create, and deny it.

I think much talked about Homeland Security alert levels have desensitized many to these threats. Since all of the "heightened alerts" have (thankfully) not resulted in any attacks, many may write these off as the same thing. I must admit, although I realize the danger is very real, I am one of these people.

Let's all hope that everything turns out okay.

Since we've all been alerted, let's hope this doesn't happen.

This is worriesome. But still, doing another attack is not likely to make most Americans scared and sad, but rather angry. The government would go over there and bomb the heck out of the middle east, hoping that they stopped Al-Quaeda from its future evil plans.

Listen to Shnay - wise words. Sep 11th took years of planning when a world wasn't expecting a terrorist threat. There was also a great deal of 'luck' involved for the terrorists too. I think this is an exercise in terror. Most attempted strikes are caught early. I believe 9/11 to be an unfortuante and grotesque misfortune and I think a repeat would be unlikely.

Don't let the terrorists win by making you scared... by doing nothing..

They're ALWAYS planning something. Even if they aren't, they'll say they are, just to stay in the limelight a little longer. It strokes their ego.

I'm not scared - and assuming that the secret service undercover agents around the world are doing their jobs, I don't have a reason to be, either. I'm more scared of getting into a car accident or getting a hangnail or something.

My thoughts EXACTLY. I couldn't have put it any better myself.

At this point i'm so tired of gas masks, orange alerts, the war on terror, I honestly just don't care anymore.

Yeah, tell me about it. Now, honestly, did anyone here know of anyone that went out to buy the plastic sheeting to put over their windows? How about gas masks? Craziness.

My house is duct tape heaven, but that's about it. Our good ol' Mexican Welding Tape (as we like to call it) has been holding this house together now for a decade or so. :)
