View Full Version : SVES Talkback: Transformers Armada - "Sacrifice" (Spoilers)
Killtacular

Knowing this show, I highly doubt the "sacrifice" will be anything shocking, nor would it be a main character. And if it WAS a main character, they would only be injuring themselves, not actually dying. They can't fool me.
Enjoy the episode.
"Sigh". Red Alert's pretty useless. They should kill him off.

*spoiler alert*
They.....killed.....Smokescreen!!!!!!!
(bear in mind it's not that I'm upset about I'm just amazed they actually offed someone on this show, oh well here's hoping Hoist is one revenge-crazed mofo, I mean considering how much he looks like ol' chopperface, maybe he'll have his voice and his moves, oh yeah and antlers swiped the RB, funny how it seems like the 'cons always get the minicons of mass destruction, but what I don't get is how come the Starsaber mincons can deactivate weapon mode if they want to but the RB minicons can't, I mean if these things actually can express themselves maybe they can refuse to work in tandem, it makes no sense, but then again who cares, the toys are kinda cool

"Jet Optimus" was the only thing even slightly wrong with this episode.
The animation was unusually good.
Thrust needs to go. He's really annoying!
Does anyone think Starscream will switch sides or go it alone? Yet another hint of that happened in this episode. Nice to see him with the Starsaber again.
Loved the kids cowering after the base was attacked hehe.
Poor Smokescreen :( :( :( Why him? He was alot jollier and nicer then dumb old Red Alert..
And now Megatron has the Requiem Blaster? That just isn't good at all... http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

For once the episode title was appropriate. Like everybody else I was surprised that Smokescreen is, apparently, dead (and in a quite painful manner to boot), as I believed Starscream to be the sacrifice. Perhaps it was done on purpose that way, and if so I give Armada full credit for that.
However I have a question... In the comics, an Autobot isn't truly dead unless completely destroyed, meaning they can be rebuilt (of course G1 contradicts this). I wonder whether Armada would prescribe to this or not ?

I'm very happy they finallly killed off a character. The last series they did that was Beast Wars/Beast Machines. And now the Decepticreeps have the Blaster and Star Saber sword. Cool! This is turning into a pretty cool series.

How can you be happy? It was sad and I cryed a lil bit! :(
Maybe if they had killed off Thrust it would be cool but not poor Smokescreen. :(

Ok, this had to be the single most violent thing they've ever done in this series.

Even when Seriously wounded, he still try to save those Minicons till his last spark of energy was gone Though it wasn't as dramatic and sad as Dinobot's death or G1 Prime's death, it was still sad to see Smokescreen killed off like that. Your a brave Warrior Smokescreen and we will miss you.

He means happy as in the sense that the show is improving, and showing death as a reality of war (hm...). I myself was afraid he wasn't going to die when he got up with that hole in his abdomen, but I'm not too happy that he is. I would have prefered Red Alert, too.

Jet Optimus was one... but the BIG one was Tidal Wave constantly being called his japanese name "Shockwave". I guess they just totally ignored his american name and decided to make it wrong everytime instead of only a few times every other episode

:snif, snif: That was so sad, I mean seriously. Incrediably violent for Transformers as well, and that's Transformers period. It was a bit hard to stomach, but the plot is really coming together, and I'm glad the plan worked because otherwise Megs would of killed Thrust and he's my favorite character right now. All in all, very sad, and Alexis was very good in this episode. Hey, I could even stand Fred in the final scenes, but Rad's VO was a tad annoying, and detracted slightly from the emotion that was being portrayed.

"Jet Optimus" was the only thing even slightly wrong with this episode.
Not -exactly-. First of all, it's more or less the correct translation for the previous (and Japanese) name "Jet Convoy". For consistency's sake, it's wrong, but since the name "Convoy" doesn't mean much to us outside of Japan, I accepted it.
Also, Tidal Wave was called "Shockwave" at least twice.
As for today's episode, I didn't really feel affected by it at all. I've seen death handled much more dramatically and emotionally in a Transformers show, and this didn't do it for me. Also, Smokescreen's death didn't really have any meaning to it, I was hoping he'd at least retake the Requiem Blaster from Megatron.
In fact, now that I'm starting to think about it, Smokescreen didn't HAVE to die, which kinda upsets me more (hey, his death brought up some emotion after all, yay). Think about it:
1. Why didn't Red Alert try to back up Smokescreen? He wasted time helping the kids hide before getting cornered down. I think the kids have had enough free reign in the Autobot base to figure out some good hiding places for themselves.
2. If they could hide the kids, why not hide the Minicons? They're about the same size, more or less, and it would've been a better strategy than making them hide behind one guy who's supposed to hold of TWO Decepticons (one of them being the almighty evil leader).
3. I think the Autobots took too long from returning to the base to getting to where the Requiem Minicons were.
4. Why didn't Smokescreen use the Skyboom shield? (I thought he controls it, but I've missed some episodes. Watching this one, I wouldn't be surprised if the Autobots lost THAT too...)
5. Come to think of it, why weren't ANY of the Autobot-allied Minicons called out to defend the base? Maybe the Autobots don't want to force them to fight, but they've been shown as willing and able to, and it would definitely help repel the Decepticons, who use the Minicons as an integral part of their offensive force.
6. Finally, what happened to all of the base defenses that we saw in that earlier episode, when Hot Shot first got the Star Saber?
Argh, I'm sorry to be so negative, but this episode aimed high, and ultimately just sunk.

I wouldn't go that far. "Transformers: The Movie" had some pretty intense scenes, as did the Beast Wars series. In comparison, I didn't feel like this ep was any more violent than some of those times when Ash thought Pikachu was going to die.

You type [$POILER] and [/$POILER] (substitute the $'s with S's) around the text you want hidden from plain sight.
If it still doesn't work for you, go ahead and private message me.

Nope. Chase airs next Saturday afternoon. I'm still confused on why they've been doing this in the recent weeks.
Anyways, I give the episode an A+
I found it really cool how Smokescreen was still trying to fight even with a gaping hole in his chest and him melting. Also, the return of Sideways was a good thing.

I now have respect for Armada. Having the guts to kill off a main character (or any character) in cartoon series stateside is good.
I was angry that the other Autobots didn't try to rush Megatron all at once when he shot Smokescreen (he couldn't shoot all of them at the same time). They just stood there like rusted nails in a log. The ending narration by Rad (I know some people were hoping one of the kids got axed) better be accurate in that Optimus will be out for revenge. A vengeful Prime is something that I've never seen before.

You know, a show really must be a pile of stinking dren when they kill one of the good guys and not only do I not care, the entire episode bores me.
Megatron has the Requiem Blaster? Bah. Next week the Autobots will get either it or the Star Sabre back, then the week after that the Decepticons will take the Skyboom shield. Or next week the Decepticons will get Skyboom and still lose to the Autobots the week after. This game of "Who's got the superweapons?" is even more mind numbing than "Find the Minicons!" This does not bode well for the much anticipated Unicron involvement.
Dammit, why was Jet Optimus/Convoy/whatever the same size as Starscream?
ok... so here's why smokescreen HAD to die...
Okay, so he's not really dead anyway. Figures. Kind of odd though that they turn Smokescreen into Hoist instead of just having Hoist be a different guy.
Smokescreen is dead! Murder!
So now what, is he gonna be the first Unicon or something?

Cool ep, not what I expected, but cool. some interesting things happened in this one
Smokescreen DIED (duh)
Starscreem is really starting to show some dissent, if not, feelings of Betrayal from his fellow cons
The Cons KNOW where the Bots base is and can attack it when ever they feel like
I wondered the same thing about the sheild, I guess Redalert was using it to "defend" the base (gawd, why coulnd't HE die, at least SmokeS was chrasimatic )
too many similar sounding names Smokesceen/Starscream Sideways/Sideswipe GAH!!!
how many eps do we have left in the show, i have a feelin Unicron won't show up till the last 3

After reading the spoiler (I just couldn't resist) I now rescend any good things I had to say about Armada. Bah.
What they should do, but won't.
They should gradually kill off a few Decepticons, and maybe another Autbot (coughRedAlertcough) When Unicron returns, he makes them his revenge obsessed Unicons, who will stop at nothing to carry out his will.
But they won't. (sigh)

I wonder if they're gonna even incorporate the Starscream re-paints in the show (thundercracker and........uh.....the purple one) into the show, it would be neet if Starscream had his onw little gang of misfit Cons who basically go around terrorizing the both sides.
so the Unicons would be TF zombies!? that would be interesting
oooh! a TF that transforms form a Coffin to a decrepit Zombie-like bot would be cool too
then agian Armada never was one to listen to the "hey wouldn't it be cool if...." ideas (I long for the days of Beast wars when the fans had say in what would transpire)

The movie was broken into five parts so it could be aired with the rest of the series, and it is just a feature film adaptation of the series anyway.

Yes, the Hoist toy seems to be made out of parts of Smokescreen, but it isn't actually specified on why this is. For all we know, it could be Smokescreen's brother, or it may never show up in the show at all (like many of the repaints, etc). Or it could be just another construction-like Autobot that just happens to look like Smokescreen. Nobody knows yet.
