The Sweet Smell of Victory- Written by Kevin D. Campbell (Episode 23 of 26)
When a low-level crook tries to join Skeletor, an accident mutates him into a new super-villain intent on destroying the Masters.
Well, the title quite possibly gives it away as to who this "new super-villian" is. Fans have long speculated that this episode will be the debut for Stinkor, a character in the 80's series that had never made it to animated form until quite possibly now. On the back cover of the new issue 1 of the He-Man comic, there is a head shot of Stinkor who head writer Val Staples had said was designed after cartoon pictures. Same goes for the shot of Webstor but that is an argument for another time.
There is also speculation that the little fury guy in jail that we all saw in Snake Pit is the "low level crook" that tries to join Skeletor. The reasons why are toooooo long to list here, but we'll all see for ourselves tonight.
Tonight's episode was written by Kevin D. Campbell who wrote the awful Mystery of Anwat Gar. I have hope that he will redeem himself in this episode. Can the "awful" lighting bolt strike twice?

In all honesty, "Mystery of Anwat Gar" is the only episode that I consider above mediocre in this series, so far. The rest are little more than great ideas riddled with cliche-filled dialogue and predictable plot points.

Really? Wow, that's kind of surprising. Of course the other episodes mentioned above I didn't find too bad. Go figure. :) Obi, you thought Courage of Adam was bad? You didin't think The Begining parts 1-3 were that bad did you?
The majority of fans (at least over at the he.org boards) thought that Anwat Gar was pretty bad. And to me at least, the samurai characters or figures were very forced in this episode. If Sy-Klone hadn't been introduced, then that episode IMO would be the worst episode of the season.
But hey, as I said, I have hope that today's episode will be good.

Well this was a really good episode! Finally a new baddie for Skeletors crew though the name Stinkor is kinda lamo.
The detail in He-mans eyes from the stink was well done and unexpected!
That dumb Roboto got some more use..though I thought he would boot Stinkor since ya know Roboto can't smell!
Battlecat getting use was also good especially at the end when he glared at Adam for trying to blame the stink on him lol! http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

I enjoyed this episode. I was so happy at the beginning to see the little furry guy that was in jail during the snake-men episode, cause to be in jail he must be one evil guy... and then he goes and becomes Stinkor. I'm not much of a fan for Roboto, but he got the job done. Hopefully we'll see more of Stinkor and maybe he'll be used unlike those two warriors that got fused.
Conveniently the wind guy wasn't there for the masters... otherwise Stinkor wouldn't have been able to do much.

The redness in He-Man's eyes was a great detail. That opening fight scene was really well done - very fun to see it play out. Roboto didn't come off nearly as annoying, this time - although they did use him as a sort of center of the plot with the whole "I cause destruction everywhere I go, so why even bother?" moral that has been used so many times now.
All in all, definitely a good episode, containing a serious attitude with just enough humor to keep things from becoming too alienating - much better than expected...

This episode had me ROFLOL! Just the concept alone was so lame it was hilarious (in a good way) I really injoyed this episode. The use of the masters, the new villain, and Especaily the part at the end with Adam blaming Cringer on the stink, hehehe!
"There's a new evil in Eternia, and it's stinky." ~ Stratos. (Paraphrasing of course)

Do robots really need to be that whiny?
aside from that, I enjoyed this episode. Good action and humor.

What do you mean, out of 26? That's just for the season right? Not the series.

Pretty good episode liked Stinkor, to bad they didnt use Mossman to combat Stinkor with his piny fresh scent. The only thing I would've changed was to get rid of the music at the end I mean just simply having Skelly laugh after Stinkor farts is better than diabolic music while he does it. I give it 5 out of 5.

Pretty good episode, in my opinion. The animation was great, Skeletor finally gets a new minion as well. Much better than last week's Stinkor.(Okay, that was lame, but you have to admit it was clever). Nice shot of Evil Lynn in there as well, or a certain part of her.:drools: Too bad after next week we have to wait for the two part season finale. Just wondering, but how many episodes were in the second season again?

I actually thought The Beginning and Courage of Adam are the better episodes that have shown. The only other episode I really liked was Ties that Bind. Aside from these, the other episodes were pretty mediocre; they were still fun to watch but they weren't great.

Yeup, 26 episodes total for this season. Second season has 13 I believe.
I thought this episode was okay. It didn't wow me or anything, but it was entertaining and there were some things I especially liked:
-Adam and Cringer sleeping... again! :p It's just classic.
-He-Man hurling Stinkor into the evil warriors.
-Adam blaming the stink on Cringer. Unexpected and it was great to see Cringer angry for once. :D
Lots and lots of stuff exhibited in this episode too. Just about every master and evil warrior was seen, and it didn't feel too crowded for a half hour episode. Characterizations were consistant, and a good moral was able to stand out without being totally lost in everything else.

Did anyone else think that Stinkor looked like a Gremlin? :p
Very good episode. Kevin Campbell has redeemed himself!
Yes Waspy, the 23 out of 26 means that there is that many more episodes this season. Season 2 will debut end of August/begining of September with 13 episodes.
This episode was very funny. The bit at the end with Adam blaming Cringer for the smell was funny.
I was begining to wonder if we'd see Stinkor with this armour and face mask this episode.
"Why is the smelly guy not getting punished?"
"Because unlike you, he's proved himself useful." :)
Yeah, if Sy-Klone was in this episode, taking him down would have been easier. ;)
And once again, Don Woo proves that their animation is very good. The detail with the redness in He-Man's eyes was a nice touch.
The concept of Stinkor's powers is pretty funny. But in a good way as DanniB said. It was great to see everyone's suspicions come true that the furry guy would in fact become Stinkor.
Next weekend, Larry DiTillo's Seperation.

Yeah, I noticed that he looked kind of like Gizmo.
Poor He-Man, getting watery eyes due to that terrible smell. I know how he feels, in culinary I had to dice onions and my eyes got all red and watery
I'm mixed about this episode.
On one hand, I liked this about the episode
-The ending. Oh, how I wished my dad got to see this, he would have LOVED it. (Stupid me for not recording...) I think what really got me and my sister was the pause more than anything. It took me a few minutes to realize what just happened, rather than the few days after 'The Island'. XD
-Stinkor/Odiphus. I think I like 'Odiphus' better, but that's just me. Ummm, maybe it's just my 'furry' side talking, but I think he looks kinda... good-lookin' without the orange armor. (Though I proclaimed to my sister: "Hey Stinky! Get some pants on! This ain't no yiff show, ya' hear?" 10 points to those who get what I mean. ;)) Plus I think they worked him into the show pretty well, esp. for a character who's basically one huge walking 'gaseous' joke.
-'Something... Stinky'. To hear Stratos of all the characters say that if just hi-frickin-larious. :D It's totally OOC when you think of it, c'mon!
-Roboto. Nice to see him again after, what... 5-some episodes absent?
However, here's what I didn't like about the episode.
-Roboto. Someone at He-Man.org said that Roboto's problem was tacked on, and looking back at the episode, I'm inclined to belive it. However, one of my friends said: "At least Mekaneck now has someone he can whine with." XD
-The De-Stink Beast-Man Plot. Ummm, whaaa? Then again, I'm pretty sure in the old series they would have come up with something like this too.
-No Sy-Klone or Moss-Man. Ehhh, they would have been good to have around, but probably would have defeated the purpose of the episode.
-The Ending. This being here depends upon my mood. Actually, I didn't get the armor cleaning, but hey. =/
It's definatley not a top favorite, nor is it an instant classic (of as funny as Turnabout), but it's really good for a 'pick me up'.
6.5/10 (7 depending on my mood) or 3/5.
Viewers take heart, if this weeks episode was too lowbrow for your tastes, next week from what I hear, is going to be very interesting, with a rather... shocking revelation and something that the old-show fans will get.

Amen to that. And in such a stoic tone of voice too. XD It's always funny when someone says something like that and is dead serious about it.

This episode was great.
Mer Man got more than one line of dialogue.
We find out that Beast Man does smell so all those times when Evil Lyn is clowning on him about being smelly she isn't lying.
Stinkor was awesome.
The masters and villians that apperared in this episode was good and served their purpose.
The only thing I didn't like was Roboto's whinning.
Other then that it was great. This episode was funnier than Turnabout.
Can't wait for a Stinkor figure.

Hmmm... I wonder if he'll still smell of patulochi (?) oil again? XD

Clever way to bring in Stinkor, with a lab accident. It would be real trouble if Stinkor was one of an entire race, like Clawful and Whiplash are. I'm just wondering how they're going to keep him around at Snake Mountain and still be able to breath.
Mossman would have been logical here, in fact I think the mini-comic that came with the 80's Stinkor was basically the two of them fighting. Cyklone could have whisked the gas away, but then so could He-Man. He did in the Mekaneck epsiode, anyway.
Speaking of Mekaneck, Stinkor's armor was originally a repaint of his. I like the way that they changed it, it is now unique yet still reminicent of the original.
Boy, looking over the 80's toy list at he-man.org, almost all the characters are accounted for now.

I likedthe episode overall, but therew were a few things that bugged me:
had never seen Roboto before, so I'm not with a pre-disposed opinion of him, but he's so friggin bulky looking. I kinda did get where he was coming form in this one tho, except the whole "it's Beast man, I'LL GO GET HIM!!!" bit was...odd. he remided me of Next Gen's Data.
-most of the "stink" related dialogue was HORRIBLE! especially Stratos', my opinion of him has faltered greatly. Trap jaw's "his odor is pretty offensive" (not exact) was hilarious tho.
-the stampeding herd: I really didn't get a good feel for how huge they were until they approached the castle. they should have made it cleared before the stampede that these things are dino-proportioned not cow proportioned.
I really could have done without the Fart at the end. a visual emission of gas would have been sufficient.
but I did like the ep. especially when odiphus introduced himself to Skeletor "I'm Odiphus and I have the power to STINK!" I'm sure that's probably what the pitch for the original figure must have gone like.
Prince Adam sleeps in the barn on the hay overnight (remeber, it was just dawn at the time) he's the prince for crying out loud, doens't her have his onw room, or at least a comfy matress?

Remember, Prince Adam is lazy and doesn't like to be bothered with things (until He-Man is needed). He often takes naps in the hay. He was napping in the hay when his 16th birthday party was going on too and Teela had to go find him :D

I understand that, but it was, like, what, 6 am or somehting (whenever dawn is on Eternia) I seriously doubt he was "napping" at dawn. that's more like sleeping to me

I thought the proportions were pretty clear when they showed the farmer beside the creatures that these thing were pretty large.

I'm sure that Adam just accidentally fell asleep there. He probably just prefers the hay in the barn than his own room because he feels that it's more comfortable.
