Anyone notice in the beginning of tonight's Futurama one of the aliens at the concert looks a lot like Tenchi Muyo's Ryoko? *She's got the same hair and the collar of her blue turtleneck is shown because she's at the bottom of the screen* This person's shown twice. Anyone else seen her?

Actually, know that I think about it, I do remember seeing that character type your were referrring to. It did look for Japanese in design then American, but I'm not sure it was Ryoko. Well, at least it's nice to see that Futurama uses some non-American in-jokes sometimes.

I popped in the Futurama DVD and checked the beginning of that ep...I think I saw the person you are referring to. While she resembles Ryoko, I doubt it was intentional.

I doubt it is the same character you are referring to because I have watched the audio commentary for that episode and they didn't mention anything about it. Usually if there are any special in-jokes or other things, they will mention it on the commentary.

They couldn't possibly mention every subtle animation joke. There have to be dozens in every episode.

Well maybe they needed to get something new To have the series get popular and fast, but it is just a thought.

Usually if you see a more detailed person in the crowd, that is a storyboarder drawing himself or a friend, or his girlfriend into the show. LOTS of people draw their girlfriends into crowd shots in many shows.
