I read in my free issue of GMR something about Lupin III for GameCube coming to the US. Am I wrong? There were also screenshots.

It wouldn't surprise me if it did...lots of anime games seem to be coming out in the US nowadays...

I remember hearing about the GC Lupin, but I don't remember much about it...too bad it's not the PS2 Lupin, which is a lot like a Metal Gear Solid game...maybe they'll bring that one over too...

That would be great if a Lupin the 3rd game would be released here. I will believe it when I read something on Nintendo's website, or read it in Nintendo Power, I do think it's a strong chance this Lupin game will be released in the United States.

I hope this doesn't go off topic, but Nintendo did confirm that a
Mobile Suit Gundam game will be released on the Gamecube soon,
as well the Gamecube version of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai is scheduled for release on August 27th according to the future game release list on Nintendo's Website.

Otherwise keep the anime based games coming

...the full title is 'Lupin III: Umi ni Kieta Hihou', and unless my sources are incorrect, it's only been announced for release in Japan and even then, the release date is TBA. Still, it's possible that it'll be released stateside... much more likely then, say, the newly released Naruto game for the GameCube.

Unless the game has the same voice actors and wit of the show, I'm not really interested. I'd rather not purchase a shoddy product just because it's associated with a franchise I like.

On the Voice actor thing: Three things that could happen:

1. They use the voice actors from either the pioneer or funimation dubs which would be the best
2. They leave all spoken dialgue in the original Japanese if there is any, and use subtitles which would be O.K.
3. they hire some VA's who sound nothing like the VA's from the Lupin dubs, this would be the worst

Hmm, I guess I'll rent it if it gets decent reviews...

I wish Sega's Lupin light game would get a stateside release. Now THAT sounds cool.

My lovely Roo-Pawn is being held back in the states once again. :(

I wouldn't get discouraged about this game being held up forever...I've noticed that Lupin has gotten quite a fanbase in the US of A. With this type of fanbase, a stateside release of the PS2 or Gamecube game (or possibly both) is inevitable.

I thought I would type the article in for you.

GMR page 28:

In other news, a bird on a wire landed on our shoulder this morning and told us that Bandai's GameCube title Chibi Robo (chibi means small) will arrive in the United States later this year, and Banpresto's Lupin the 3rd PS2 game is also en route.

I've got the Lupin III: Leagacy of Magician game for PS2, and it is just about as close to Metal Gear solid as you can get while avoiding a lawsuit.

Good puzzles, suprisingly accurate 3 d representations of the characters, and good controls.

Plus, I get to dress like Zenigata.

EDIT: I highly doubt the upcoming GC Lupin III game will make it here. It is a digital novel, something that has about a snowballs chance in hell of being translated for the US.

uh, the article you just typed up says the 3rd PS2 game will be coming out, not GAMECUBE. I don't know if this is just atypo on your part when typing up the article or u misread it the first time

You may want to edit the thread title to read "Lupin the third PS2 game coming to the states".

I don't follow. Are you saying Chibi Robo is a GameCube game? Cause that isn't what it says in the magazine.

In Every post you've said that

Bandai's GameCube title Chibi Robo will arrive in the United States later this year

and
Banpresto's Lupin the 3rd PS2 game is also en route.

Reading is Fundemental.

Bandai's PS2 title, "Lupin the Third: Legacy of the Magic King" is most likely coming to the States, courtesy of Bandai. We'll probably see something about it at E3.
The current release date is late September (either the 24th or the 30th; there are conflicting dates).
Animerica Magazine gave it a very unfavorable review, totalling 1 out of 4 (5?) stars.

The GameCube game, if we're lucky (and the PS2 game has any semblance of success in the States) will hopefully follow.
The GCN game is NOT a "digital novel," as another user stated earlier. The game is better described as a choose-your-own-adventure anime, with animation work done by Studio Telecom, animators of the "Castle of Cagliostro" film, featuring identical character designs. A "digital novel," from my understanding, is mostly just text with accompanying background images and audio (and of course, options for which direction to go).
I'm personally more excited about the Lupin GameCube game ("Lost Treasure From the Sea") than the PS2 game. But maybe that's partially because I have a GameCube...?

yeah, when I saw the review (before I read it), I was extremely excited but the magazine said it wasnt too good at all. But the picture of lupin on the review in the computer animation looks awesome and I would buy it just because Im a fan of the franchise even if its not too good of a game.
