Here's something I just noticed from Kyle Pope's edit list for the "Hard Puncher" episode:
2) Shot of Bounty Hunter's shotgun being pressed against Vash's temple
in the restaurant cut.
3) Shot of old man's pistol being pressed against Vash's forehead cut.
Wake up CN! This isn't freakin Toonami! It's a show that airs after midnight on an adult block! Kids have school the next day, they wouldn't be up this late!
I don't want to start a big comotion over this, just something that I wanted to point out as it may plague future anime that airs on AS.

Well there was somthing that was not cut out and that was the person with a bullet hole near his chest, and Cowboy Bebop usually edits that, so I'm seeing a swicheroo going on here.

I have a message to whoever edits the shows that air on Adult Swim...
STOP BUTCHERING THE SHOWS!
I understand that Cartoon Network can't play "****" or show nudity. But even though this is a cartoon channel who's major demographic is children, the things you edit out AT MIDNIGHT on a SHOW FOR ADULTS are absurd! How come you can have a show riddled with gunplay, but you can't show people sticking guns to other peoples' heads? How come you can play a Cowboy Bebop themed around hallucinogenic mushrooms, and you have a whole menagerie of shows (i.e.: The Brak Show, SG:C2C, Sealab 2021, and ATHF) that seemed to be inspired by some sort of narcotic, yet you censor out a marijuana leaf on Jet's T-shirt? It's absurd! I understand some edits are necessary, and overall it's a good job, but some edits are completely gratuitous!
I've been saying that since "Bizzaro" proved that the Cartoon Network didn't give a crap about what aired on WS shows. It's annoying to see anime edited this way.

There was never any marijuana leaf on Jet's T-shirt.

What was it then? Canadian? :p

In "Cowboy Funk", Jet dressed as a hippie at a masquerade party, and there was a marijuana leaf on his shirt. Williams Street edited it into a peace sign.

Nevermind, I was thinking of a different episode.

True, but I think its all in the context,Beat.
Besides,Kids don't give a rats hairy ass about WS shows,HomeMovies or Futurama so the BS&P can turn a blind eye to their content but anime is a different matter because CN knows if they air any type of anime on any block that kids will automatcially flock to it so they have to edit it "just in case".Regardless of their "all-age" status.
That's my logical take on it.

I know plenty of kids who love all the comedy shows just as much, if not more, than the ASA shows. :brendon:

Their are kids who stay up to watch these shows even with the waring. So to cover their ass I guess CN decied to edit.

Don't you think you're being a bit over dramatic? I'll agree that those are weird edits, but it hardly "butchers" the show. It's an annoyance, yes, and hopefully one that won't be an issue in the future. But I hardly think that any artistic integrity is being destroyed by cutting out a shot of a gun to the head.
It's not just you, either. People throw out the word "butchering" as soon as any edits are made to anything.

The weird thing about the edit on Jet's marijuana shirt is, in another CB episode (I think it's "Bohemian Rhapsody"), you see people actually SMOKING marijuana!! Yes -- doobies, my friend! So you can show people actually smoking it, but you can't show people pretending to advocate it as a joke.
If it was indeed "Bohemian Rhapsody," that's also the episode where they left in the almighty G-D word... It's as if they just figured, "Ehh, let's not edit this episode."

If the soccer moms started to complain, CN could just tell them "The programs are are intended for ages 18 and up ONLY, the warnings are there for a reason."
CN's asses are automatically covered as long as the show airs after 11pm.

You'd think so.Even though CN has the legal right to do so,they don't have the balls to act on it.Fear of losing face with the parents,I assume.
Matt could better explain this.
...Doesn't WS only edit Bandai shows and Kenshin? I would expect that the company that released Trigun (Pioneer I believe) is the one who's editing it.

As LFV said about the editing in Trigun...
i guess that stuff happens when Williams Street edits your show
In other words, yes.WS does edit all Pioneer shows as well.

Well I assume the company that translated Trigun is doing some of the editing, there has t be a Cartoon Network studio that edits a little out for television air.

When WS edits a show, they edit too much and actually hurt the chances of AS becoming more mature.
Lupin, IY, and Reign were not edited by WS and therefore actually expanded the boundaries of mature content to the levels of what TNT would show late at night.
WS's editing of Trigun is a step backward.
WS now suddenly seems to be editing every anime show that airs on CN (including Funimation's shows). It seems pretty likely that they got in trouble with the BS&P.

If WS is really sticking with this "No guns to the head" garbage one of the coolest scenes from the final episode of Trigun will probably be edited out.....In the final battle between Vash and Knives, they have there guns pointed at each others eye, after the whole John Woo bullet changing thing :points to his avatar:....WS will really piss me off if they edit more unnecessary stuff out, this is Adult Swim, I am sure ADULTS can handle the fact that some guns get pointed towards peoples faces.

Damn, in the last episode (and Diablo) there are ALOT of guns to people's face.
Are they just going to drop Diablo? (one of the most important episodes) Make it 10 Minutes long? or leave it? because the violence is uniform in it's nature

Lets hope they actually have some sense and leave the "guns to face" scenes in. The final scene with Legato would also have to be done away with completley...Most of the scene involves Vash with his gun planted on Legato's head
