This has popped up a few times in other threads, and I'm curious to see the results of a poll. The dub takes a few liberties, some people feel that they add to the story, others feel that they detract.

There's purposely no wishy-washy middle ground in the poll. :p If you dislike some parts but like others, vote for whichever you feel you agree more with and make a post to explain your reasoning.

It's definitely a good dub. Some of the translations of cultural references seem strange at times, but even that seems to fit with the inane style of humor.

The VA's are good, but as mentioned before, the cultural references can be pretty stupid at times... Refering to Shaq in the '70s? Ugh...

People act like continuity is supposed to be preserved in a translation of a comedy. Hell, shouldn't they be speaking Japanese, or French, or Arabic or the respective language of whatever country they're in? Shouldn't Lupin have a French accent? Shouldn't Interpol been able to arrest Lupin every time he leisurely appears in public?

It's an excelent dub.

Its a good dub but I still hold the CoC dub in higher regard through. The pop culture references dont bother me that much, as long as they dont go nuts with them ala like Dragonball Z.

One of the best dubs I've ever heard. The pop-culture references add to the show for me, especially when contrasted with its older look. Gives the show a really neat feel.

Good, but the pop culture refrences go overboard at times. Having only seen Macross subtitled, I've never heard Lupin's VA as Hikaru/Rick, so it feels natrual.

I'll admit that the pop culture references were initially off putting, but they won me over singing "Wind Beneath My Wings." The thing to remember is that this is a brand new dub being marketed to a wide, contemporary audience. Enough people are already put off by the animation that I'd imagine further dating the show would cause mroe people to dismiss it. Plus, I would say that more effort is being put into the Lupin scripts than a lot of dubs, which is certainly a good thing.

Depressed Zenigata singing Wind Beneath My Wings was priceless.

It's a weak dub, but it could certainly be worse.

I agree with JeffTMBG. Futher dating of the show would just alienate people. The pop culture references are funny, it doesn't matter that it breaks continuity.

I can't compare it to the sub, but the dub cast seem to have absolutely nailed the characters. The pop culture references are usually pretty funny, so most of them don't bother me. But, since the show has such a distinct '70's feel, some of the real awkward ones (like Shaq or Regis Philbman) can take away from a scene.

Also, if they kept in Japanese pop culture references from the '70's, nobody would get the jokes. :p

A couple of the pop-culture references are misplaced, but a good deal of the others are flat hilarious ("Eh, Bon Jovi to you too!"). Besides that, the voices are great, they fit the characters wonderfully.

Zenigata singing Wind Beneath My Wings and Jigen constantly cursing makes my day. :)

the dub "friggin" rocks

I was put oof by the pop cultrure refs for a bit, but I've been won over now that I'm expecting them (unlike the first "simpsons" line which caught me off guard)

and hearing Zenigata scream crap a million times never ges old

I think it's a good dub, especially considering what they were given to work with...
