My g/f and I have been waiting for nearly a yr now to see the next eps of YYH that CN said they were going to air in Nov. Well we are still waiting, and no place in my area has the dvds to rent past vol 4. When is CN suppose to air them? While we are at it, how about Big O2? Or those 5000 other shows they said they would be airing, and have yet too. lol

The new episodes started this Wednesday, so you won't be too far behind if you decide to watch the new episodes now. YYH now airs at 6PM ET.

Oh great. I knew it was on Toonami, but I figured they were going to air the new eps on AS since that is where it started. Hmmmm, how badly edited are they compared to the AS ones?

Pretty badly. They're not afraid of cutting out major plot points (Genkai's cigarette).

A major plot point of that episodes, yes. Toonami took it out completley and came up with some lame excuse for Yusuke to beat him. Thank god that I didnt care for YYH or I would be really, really pissed off about the block hopping.

Oh brother. It's not "pretty badly". How anyone could have expected the cigarettes to show up is beyond me. Has there ever been an anime on Toonami where cigarettes ALWAYS showed up, 100% of the time? Rarely are ANY exceptions made. And usually the exceptions are just edits WS forgot (purposely) to make.
There are different tiers of edits for Toonami. There's tier 1, the most editted tier, for shows like Outlaw Star, Pilot Candidate, Sailor Moon, and 8TH MS Team, where the most senseless of things are taken out of seemingly harmless episodes. There's tier 2, the average-editted tier, for shows like Dragon Ball Z, Zoids Zero, Gundam 0083, and etc, where shows are allowed to keep their storyline fully intact, but will definitely sacrifice adult content, and may change plot points from time to time to avoid sensitive issues (killing, for one). Then there's tier 3, the least-editted tier, for shows which not only keep their storyline intact, but sometimes allow adult content.
I would place Rurouni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakusho both between tiers 2 and 3. They keep the storyline full intact, and sometimes allow risque material, but at the same time may alter a couple of plot points if they're too much for kids to handle (suicide, ultra-gore). Yeah, some of these edits are stupid, but UNAVOIDABLE.
We'll see when the Dark Tournament comes to find out if it's REALLY editted "pretty badly".

Editted badly or not, YuYu just doesn't seem the same anymore. Swearing and gore and stuff didn't get me to like the show in the first place but it added to the overall appeal and package. I still like it just not nearly as much as before..new episodes or not. http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

No hang ups here. I'm really starting to get into YYH now. :)
Could someone explain what was done with the cigarette?

In the Genkai tournament, Yuske had to fight his opponent in the dark(all the first round matches were like that.) Before the fight started Genkai threw a cigarette at Yuske because he called her grandma (or something like that, I dont remeber off the top of my head.) Yuske's opponent had a special mask that let him see spirit engery. When the guy attacked him, Yuske couldn't see him. When he finally got close Yuske grabbed his arm and slipped a cigarrette under his belt (which was still lit). Then when the guy attacked Yuske again, Yuske saw the lit cigarrete and used his spirit gun attack to beat him. Toonami took out the whole thing with the cigarette and made it look like he randomly hit his opponent.

I didn't notice that before... I'm fine with YYH on Toonami. I didn't care much for Yusuke's foul mouth anyway.

Yeah, it's lost quite a bit... but despite a few "Oh, come on!" instances, they've really done a great job. Pretty much every reference to killing and demons has been left in, and even a tad of alcohol use, and the scene with the transvestites in the bar (with altered dialogue that really didn't change a whole lot). But by far the most impressive thing they've left in is BYAKKO'S DECAPITATION! They cut out the later shot where he spewed blood within the ice, after he was apparently dead... but it was quite a shock.
As for the new episodes, all I know is I'm immensely enjoying them, so there's not too much to complain about.

Thanks for the info. I caught today's ep, and I really couldn't get into it at all. For one thing, I watched the first 21 eps when the first aired, and have not watched them ever since, so I don't even remember what really was going on. I only liked Genkai's Tournament, and the Saint Beast's arcs, but they weren't anything great (although I was glad they didn't take 30 eps to complete each arc ***DBZ***

His foul mouth is part of his appeal and personality.

Yeah, that's what makes Yusuke so appealing as a main character. And it's the main character who drives the show. So when the appeal is taken out of the main character... :deedee:

He's still a punk so I don't care. I don't like to hear swearing all that much. He's still got the attitude, but I'll agree that Toonami took off the edge.

I could understand editting cigarettes out of the heroes of series that's on a kids block (encourages smoking and stuff.) But think about the bad guys? Most younger kids dislike villains (maybe a few exceptions but still), so why don't they keep the cigarettes on the bad guys? I mean if most kids see the villain smoking, they'll probably be thinking, hey that's not cool.... That or I'm just not thinking. :deedee:
As for Yu Yu Hakusho on Toonami, I didn't mind the Yuske's Death and Resurrection Arc through The Saint Beasts (well except in the Genkai Tournament, I still don't like how they cut that cigarette plot point). I am not liking the Rescue Yukina Arc on Toonami at all. Before you say "Buy The DVDs!" I'll tell you, I am a proud owner of the DVDs. If you're a Yu Yu Hakusho fan, I highly reccomend those fans to buy the Rescue Yukina uncut DVD. It is a laugh riot, and it has a very good storyline to it. How they changed it around on Toonami is a laugh riot, because there was so many edits!!! I'm not saying they could have got away with that stuff, but it makes you think that this show is on the wrong block (way to go Funimation!) If it were on Adult Swim still, I'm sure The Deadly Triad would have many edits still, but it would have kept the same storyline and it woudldn't have got out of hand like it did on Toonami. Oh well, hopefully the Dark Tournament Box Set won't take TOO long to release. :(

"Yu Yu Hakusho isn't adult enough, put it on Toonami! It doesn't belong to be put on a block for 'adult' animation. It's ruining the name of Adult Swim! Take it off now!"
"Yu Yu Hakusho needs to get off Toonami! Put it back on Adult Swim, that's where it belongs!!!"
Gee, what a fickle group of fans we have on this board...
I didn't notice that before... I'm fine with YYH on Toonami. I didn't care much for Yusuke's foul mouth anyway.
So saying "hell" and "damn" is Yusuke having a foul mouth? When I think "foul mouth," I think of people swearing like Eminem, not people saying "You bastard!!!" Sheesh...

Nope, wrong. YYH on Toonami has turned out GREAT. YYH has gotten away with a lot on Toonami and has turned out a lot better than I think any of us could have hoped. Words like "kill," "die," and "demon," previously taboo on Toonami, are left in YYH. Comments about Yusuke's "tramp mother, Byakko's decapitated head, and a wall covered in demon blood are all left in. The edits around the first fight on Friday's episode (against the Demon Triad or whatever they're called) was pulled off convincingly, and I had no idea that she was really a he. They're doing a lot better job than any other kids' network would be doing (could you imagine the hack job this show would go through on Kids' WB! or the Fox Box!?) and I applaud both FUNimation and Toonami for being gutsy with this series and really trying to push the envelope as far as what's allowed in TV-Y7 shows.
So they cut out a cigarette in ONE insignificant fight. Big friggin' deal. What would you have rather them do? Have her throw a "glowing stick of Spirit Energy" or something equally as implausible? Some people are going to b*tch no matter how much a show is able to get away with.

I'd rather they leave it in, thus retaining the one thing that made that fight particularly interesting. But apparently they're not allowed to. So I'd rather they left it on Adult Swim in the first place, which is what I've been saying the whole time, but apparently many others were ticked off by it... so I guess they've finally gotten their wish. Bravo!

It seems to me that you had some rather unrealistic expectations and, when they weren't met, you decided that putting YYH on Toonami was a bad move. The show is not adult enough for Adult Swim, even uncut. There's no reason it shoudn't on Toonami. NONE.

There is one reason.
YuYu uncut is farrrrrrrrr more mature then DBZ uncut. So what happens when the lil DBZ fans get themselves or their parents to buy the uncut videos and the parents see and hear the real YuYu? CN and Funi could get quite abit of complaints! And maybe in the most extreme case the show could be kicked off CN altogether! http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

You mean like this: EoE (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/shop/category/vid/dvd/KID12TON04109.01.html)? YYH would be an little more tamer in this case as I've heard. ;)

YYH is gonna be fine on toonami for a while. Just wait till you see the eps later in the Dark Tournament Saga. They'll be hacked to deaht if they even air. As for the sensui saga. I guess they might just cut whole epsiodes making it seem weird with holes in the story and all. But if they put it on they WILL have to cut full eps in the sensui saga (which starts at ep 68 or so)

No, I ALWAYS said that moving it to Toonami was a bad idea, since back when I first heard the rumor. And there are several reasons it shouldn't be on Toonami, which have all been beaten to death (whoops -- Toonami!). I knew they wouldn't keep the cigarette thing intact, which was why I hated the idea in the first place, and the way it was handled (which was necessary, since they went and moved it to Toonami) really took away the whole point of that fight. Of course, I still know what really happened, but it's just kinda sad to see. The show is handled very well on Toonami considering the circumstances, but... it would still be handled better on Adult Swim.

I wish it was just left on AS in the first place as well. Alternate shows would be cool if they could do that. Say like YYH and Ruroni Kenshin on AS's 1Am-2AM (technically midnight where i live) spot Monday and Tuesday, Lupin and Cowboy Bebop (and if they really needed to, keep Reign in the mix. Put let any one of these shows air once during the week.) I guess that's a wee bit unrealistic though, i guess...
But like a previous post once reccommended, CN should have pulled for SVES to have a TV-PG part of the block (most likely the later part, Kenshin, Yu Yu, .hack//sign, Gundam 0080, and GI Joe can be in that part.) What's done is done though, oh well.
