Umm... One Piece was never promised to Adult Swim. It wasn't mentioned in the adquisitions. (Party Wagon and the New Thundercats weren't either, but what can you do?)

And, as much as you and Kaiser will hate me for this, ONE PIECE IS GOING TO TOONAMI, LIKE IT OR NOT. CONTENT OR NO CONTENT.

It's the Slayers/UC Gundam Toonami/Adult Swim debate all over again...

You should at least let FUNimation start dubbing the series first. :p
In answer to your next question, they're still "Too busy with Fruits (Basket)".

While I'd like to see it on Adult Swim, the way things are going now makes me think it will go to Toonami.

I'd imagine Funi has begun dubbing it, though I doubt they've completed enough episodes to put it on TV. Maybe in August or September...

I think it should and will go to Toonami. From what I've seen of One Piece, it's no more violent than Yu Yu or Kenshin. And besides, the whole feel of the series is a better fit for Toonami.

Actually, I thought that Party Wagon was promised to AS. Didn't they deem it to be "too adult" to a Cartoon Cartoon?

Considering the fact that the last DVD comes out in less than two months, I should hope that they've been done with dubbing on Fruits Basket for some time now.

Besides, we know for a fact that auditioning for One Piece happened a couple months back (a Funi VA told us as much). I wouldn't be surprised if dubbing was already underway. Of course, as RedBoot pointed out, there won't be enough episodes to air until later this year anyways.

As for One Piece being "promised" for AS, the only reason people (incorrectly) assumed that it would be headed for AS is because at the Comic-Con demonstration of AS Pipeline last year, a One Piece place-holder graphic was used in the "videos" section. Williams Street also mentioned that they were thinking about doing whole episodes on the Pipeline, possibly even subbed. People put 2 and 3 together and got 7, somehow assuming that One Piece would air on AS. *shrug*

I'm sure it was only there because the One Piece manga runs in Shonen Jump, and when they needed graphics for a mock-up version of the website, they just pulled stuff from the pages of Jump.

No, they have another reason to assume One Piece would be on CN, but we can't exactly disclose why. It got a staffer from FUNi in trouble the last time.

Andrew

Hmm...must've missed that. But I was referring to why people thought it would be on Adult Swim specifically, not just Cartoon Network.

I mean, come on, did we really need someone at Funi to tell us it would be airing on CN? That's pretty much a given.

I heard that One Piece is pretty bloody...

Someone gets shot with lots of bullets, then the person who gets shot pulls out each bullet and there is a big bloodspurt with each bullet he pulls out......Wow, that sounded repetitive.

And Rurouni Kenshin isn't?

If they can get away with the violence in YYH and Kenshin on Toonami, I don't see any reason why One Piece won't be coming to Toonami...

Errm.... I knew somebody was going to say that....

*Kicks self*

You do have a point though....

I've heard that some of the graphic...ness is very important to the storyline.
If some of it is cut it'll leave you going "WTF?"

That's just what I've heard, I'd have to see it for myself though.

When has that stopped Toonami before? Genkai's cigarette never stopped YYH from going to Toonami.

Hopefully.

Watch Funi put Blue Gender on Toonami and then make it easily the most editted anime ever on Toonami.

True,CN would put Berserk on Toonami if they really wanted to.

I think One Piece will go to Toonami. Why? Because it's an Shonen Jump title, and my theory is that all Shonen Jump titles (except for Yu-gi-oh) will go on Toonami.

If its marketable where FUNi can sell/push toys, card games, videogames, then One Peice will for sure be coming to Toonami. If Blue Gender had this type of marketablility then you'd see that coming to Toonami as well.

Btw,FUNi plans on broadcasting all of their properties, correct? When CN does acquire Fruits Basket which block does anyone think it'll go to?

Toonami, where it's horrifying cuteness might better induce hypoglycemia in unsuspecting DBZ fanboys. Mwa ha ha. :p

one piece is far more marketable on toonami so ya i know it will

i mean dragonball z has heads getting blown off and other sick twisted stuff and that's still on toonami (heavly edited) so i'm betting it'll go there too. All they have to do is edit out some blood and stabbing, language isn't too bad though instead of grog they'll be drinking root beer.

another reason i think it'll go to toonami is the fact a gameboy advance game is coming statewide as well as a gamecube game (on nintendo's website), but then again an inu-yasha game is coming out as well.

so who really knows I JUST WANT THE DAMN DVDS! (the caps lock was stuck)

Really? I knew the GC fighting game was coming, but I hadn't heard about a GBA game coming over...I saw screens of a GBA One Piece RPG, is that the one coming over?

ya you walk around as luffy after you and the crew get shipwrecked and then when you find your crewmates you battle together as you go through duegons. Its kinda fun to play, but then again nintendo has been known to say games are coming out to the u.s. and then taken it back.

Yu-Gi-Oh! would go on Toonami if CN didn't have anything better to put on it instead, but I think they've figured out that it and Pokemon don't fit Toonami very well so that's one reason why the dominate SVES.

I suspect most anything from Shonen-Jump will come to Toonami. One Piece I am certain will. It's got a lot of potential for being a big ratings grabber and Funi knows for a fact that they get better ratings on Toonami than on AS. I also suspect that if it's picked up by Bandai or Funi then Naruto will come to Toonami as well possibly Sand Land and Shaman King (maybe not Shaman King... it's about a Shaman afterall... that's either AS or Late Night SVES material, but I could be wrong).

I wish FUNi would pull a Pioneer and release subtitled Yu-Gi-Oh DVD's. They could get 4Kids to make a uncut dub for the first Yu-Gi-Oh series(Game of Darkness, not Duel Monsters). They could make an uncut dub and subtitled version for DVD, and a T.V. version for KidsWB, something which ADV is doing with Zodiac Knights(Saint Seiya).

remember cartoon network biggest time block is still designed for children. Only late night is for adults. So 25 percent should go towards adult programming.

So while we all hope for new adult swim stuff, cartoon networks priority is still based on its target audience, childern from 5-14. So they'll look to them before they look to us.

kinda a good reason one piece is coming to toonami. (though hopefully it'll get uncut dvds)

if you want a uncut yu-gi-oh just read the comic, its uncut though if you really need it darker white-out some words and add some curse words.

Everything Funi releases has uncut DVDs (other than the 4Kids stuff), so I don't see One Piece being any different.

As for Naruto and Shaman King, they'd both fit Toonami well. And IIRC, Sandland was never animated. I could be wrong, though.

I thought it was... Oh well.

I heard that 4kids wont let Funi release Yu-Gi-Oh! uncut. It's a shame, but it's likely too dark and parents would complain even though it say UNCUT on the box... Oh well it's not the end of the world. I wonder if Funi is ever going to release episodes of the new TMNT seeing as all 4kids properities are being released by Funi other than Pokemon (which is put out by Pioneer).

Pokemon is put out by Viz Video and Distrubuted by Pioneer... At least that's what it shows on my video box from one of the tapes in the first season.

No, the original Yugioh! was never dark. It had dark themes involved, but most of the time, it's light hearted. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why 4Kids didn't want to show the first season (besides the belief that there's no mechandising potential).

Yugioh Duel Monsters was also never dark. Like it's predecessor, it had dark themes involved, but in actuality, anything that's based on a card game can never be dark. Never.

As to why 4Kids didn't want to release it uncut, my theory is that 4Kids would rather target the little brats than the older audience.

That's too bad, since it's the older audience that are actively playing the game more than the kids.

And let One Piece go to Toonami instead. Adult Swim is set. Toonami needs more new shows.

Nothing dark from a card game eh?

There is Magic the Gathering...

Agreed Yu-Gi-Oh! wasn't as dark as MANY animes, but it was darker than the US dub is. The Japanese manga was anyway.

JetMaster5

Magic the Gathering was not dark, and it was never dark. It may have been intended to BE dark, but it was never dark. Why? Because it's a game. Games are fun. They're never dark.
