View Full Version : Would Starship Troopers RC Be Adult Swim Friendly?

It's not fully adult and could air easily on Toonami, but I heard the reason this awesome show got punked so bad was because of its ties to it's elder theatrical brother and they didn't want to seem like they were promoting a rated 'R' movie to kids.

This show deserves the spotlight and to be finished.

Picked up the DVD with commentary and they seem to still be interested in fishing the series which has already been written and recorded. They even only had three more episodes to go!

So... think CN would be game to give credit where it's due for yet another highly neglected brilliant series?

I'm sure it's a great show and all, but come on. That's rated what, Y7? I think CN's gotten enough bad word of mouth from the Ripping Friends to pick up any more kids shows, even great ones. If it goes anywhere on CN its going to Toonami.

You mean the Roughnecks (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0190198) show? Hell yeah! If CN picked it up, maybe they'd let them make those last three episodes.

Hmm. Maybe not Adult Swim though. Toonami or SVES. It was kid-friendly enough that is wouldn't need to be on AS.

Well, the Starship Troopers movie was terrible, but I've never seen the show. Wasn't the show on Fox Kids? I think Ripping Friends proved that Fox Kids shows "don't translate well" onto ADULT Swim.

The Roughnecks show brilliant? Wow, people sure like to throw around that word now. Its decent for a kids show based on a movie but AS could do without these throwaway TVY shows.

I'm shocked and appalled how little you guys know about this show. I throw around the word brilliant alot, yeah, but this show was pretty outstanding and deserves serious props.

It's definately not a throw away show or even close to being compared to frelling Ripping Friends. Comes closer to Beast Wars and Gargoyles than anything else in terms of quality.

Those who thought the movie was terrible are woefully mistaken and completely didn't understand the flick. For what it was trying to be it was brilliant.

The show aired in mad early morning times on Sci-Fi..... not Fox Kids.

I know the show was kid friendly, but definatley and easily accessible to the adult audience. My first pick is for the show to air on Toonami, but like I said before, word was networks were leary about airing the show toward tweens cuz of it's connection to the R-rated movie. So give it its due and air it on Adult Swim then.

Show it and people would come. Especially considering the times. It feels good to see fictional military in action and kicking butt.

Where I live it aired on "Fox Kids!" every afternoon for about 18 months. It's intended for children, that is where the Ripping Friends comparison comes from. It's called ADULT SWIM.

I swear I remember this show from Kids WB...oh well. It was a pretty good show but I really don't think quite adult swim material. For anyone who saw the movie, this was alot better than that steaming pile.

I saw a few eps of it, and thought it was nice...wouldn't mind seeing more of it.

However, it's not AS material...as long as Toonami is still two hours, I think the best place for Roughnecks would be SVES.

I remember this show. I think I saw it on once at like 5 or 6 in the morning, but I don't remember what channel. I was not impressed. For starters it's 100% CGI. Which I hate. But aside from that, it wasn't really good. Maybe it was the lack of caffeine or the early time, but I did not like the show at all. Mostly for the same reasons I didn't like Max Steel. Unimpressive action and unfunny jokes. The starship troopers movie was cool in a B-movies-can-be-fun kind of way. I shudder to think that my precious toonami could be soiled with this show, I think I would go full out homicidal if it appeared on adult swim. If it gets aired at all it should be back on that 6 am slot, so primetime time slots can be given to more worthy shows.

Nothing personal, JC, I just don't like it.

No offense taken and I think it was the early morning that affected ya. I remember feeling the same way about Beast Wars first time I saw it early in the morning.
