Could you possibly clarify what you view as an adult topic? To me, that can range from being any kinda of mature topic, to possibly sexual or violent topics.

Well, I would assume that normal decorum applies.

No personal insults (outside of PMs) No Harsh Cursewords. No gratuitous descriptions of human anatomy... I.E. PG-13

Since you are not an Adult (18 or older) I can not give you the URL to the Appropriate Message Board.

I reccomend you look at any of the prior Romance threads here (which were not locked) to get a feel for what's allowed here.

As for Violins, I would think that as Music It would be found in the entertainment board. :D

LOL why do you wonder? If the topic comes up and its inapproiate, you'll know. The people on this board are like friends, not lovers or enemies. Keep the talk serious but nothing explicit please. As for "adult topics", don't say anything you wouldn't want your grandparents to read ;)

No, seriously, we have 13-year-olds viewing this site. I should think that adult topics would be avoided at all costs.

I think you can rely on your common sense to more or less tell you what's appropriate, and what isn't. If you think there might be a possiblity something isn't that appropriate, chances are it's not. If you're not sure, you can always feel free to PM a mod about it or something. But yes, we do have 13 year olds around here, so think about what might be appropriate for them to read and talk about.

Barb's right, let common sense play into this and see where it takes you. I'd like to think that the boards are a fairly liberal place where, as long as you are making an educated point or asking a question, anything under an R-rated bracket can be included. If you are ever unsure, ask a mod in a PM; if you do cross a line, however, you will be warned and those posts will be edited or deleted.

Just so ya know. :)

Ok i'm 14, but I hear wose at school than what I hear on these posts! no offense but these posts are intended for well, basically all ages ( that are old enough to under stand the topics). But one more question how old do you have to be to join toonzone? :)

we discussed this at another forum and decided that it depends HOW you are discussing something. sex for example is a natural thing and needed for the survival of species, however, when you discuss it in a crude manner it is innapropriate... cusing is also a thing of discussion... if these forums are PG-13 than they should be able to contain language from a PG-13 movie... but it seems to me that no fowl language is allowed here, which is fine by me...

Good point. But we've all seen too many forums around the net (no names mentioned, of course ;)) that allow such language and they become dens of stupidity. Usually it's due to the maturity level of the posters there, and honestly, it's not a very fun place to be. We watch the language around here because we'd like to have intelligent conversations on the board, not just rants and flame wars back and forth between posters. And honestly, everything seems to run smoothely here, thanks to all us mods and all the members that are a pleasure to be around.

:D

I'm not a mod, but I've been a lurker for about one year. One of the things I've noticed this board is that people generally don't discuss recreational drugs or alcohol. I've never seen anyone banned for talking about these things, but they do seem to violate the general attitude of the board and agitate most posters.

There have been many discussions about alcohol, but most of them deal with the consequences and drinking age. Drugs like marijuana have been discussed, but as a topic, not as a valid thing to do on Tuesday night.

I have this horrible habit of not being very clear when I type (which is why I tend to lurk) so I'll try to expand on my statements.
For example: A batman drinking game is inappropriate, as would be a detailed description of your own drunken debauchery last Friday night.
However, most people don't react when someone says something along the lines of " All I want to do when I get home is crack open a beer and watch comedy central until my corneas implode."
I've never seen a discussion about marijuana on this board that didn't focus on the political side of it.
Tobacco has been discussed, though several posts pointed out how stupid smoking is, but I doubt that a thread entitled "What's your favorite brand of cigarettes?" would be tolerated.

I think the main point is that gratuity of any kind is not tolerated. Please keep in mind that I am NOT a mod and that I'm simply pointing out what I have observed.

If you want a trashy board, "Go somewhere else!" is what I say!

Not... quite.

This is just my opinion, mind you... and the rules page isn't working for me for some reason, but I don't believe there's an explicit rule against talking about drugs.

Drinking games are often described in jest and tongue-in-cheek, and it'd probably be all right to post it in the DC animated board. And heck, the wholesome and underaged can always do them with root beer. ;)

I think a description of a wild night of drinking would be the same as any account of personal events- there better be funny/thought-provoking stories so that it's worth the while of other people to read it. Otherwise there's no point. I'm pretty sure I've done it on one occasion before. Heck, John Crichton's posted photos of him at his friend's bachelor party.

I don't really see a problem with "What's your favorite brand of cigarettes?" that would require it being shut down immediately. Would a lot of posters, probably the majority, probably attack the subject and shout "Smoking is bad!"? Probably. Freedom of speech is a two-way street. If it erupted into a flame war, then it might be shut down, but that's true for almost any subject.

Basically, I think it'd be allowed, but the poster'd have to be aware that he's setting himself up for a lot of debate and heat. Same goes for favorite alcoholic drinks (I think we've already had a couple of "Do you like beer?" threads anyway). I'm not too sure about illegal drugs, like weed though, in terms of a discussion that wasn't objective and about the moral/legal issue. During said objective discussions, many posters have admitted to using it, and it's not like we're going to be like "Gasp! We're finding out where you live and calling the police!"

In terms of sex... it's an all-ages board, so better to ask sex advice and post your porn links on another board.

Well Tim, I may have to say that I usually don't like threads that have to do stuff that is eaither War or adult like, gets annoying very quickly and otherwise down right boring, and if I was a mod here, I would suggest this topic to get locked up so there would be no flame wars or arguements on it.

So Salvor, for your Batman drinking game (water and jus d'orange, right? RIIIIGHT?) what was the secret word? "Ol' chum" or "Holy"? :D

It is probably better to stay away from questionable topics, as people would be likely to attack some of them. As long as "adult" topics are kept away, there should be no problem for such reasons.
