Some of us favor Italian, some of us favor Japanese, and some of us will eat anything that's edible. :p What's your favorite kind of food? Post your votes here! Funny how I didn't think of that for my polls on my web site. Oh well. :)

I'll go with Elven Moon on this one. I love all three.
I also have to say Cajun, which, granted, comes out of Louisiana, but you gotta admit, that's almost it's own thing.

I think a tie between American, Chinese and Japanese. I'm in the mood for any of those kinds of foods at just about anytime.

I may have been born in America but I'm all Chinese when it comes to cuisine. There's seriously nothing better than authentic Chinese food. It just kinda sucks that there are so many non-authentic Chinese food places cuz people eat there and think that what they serve is real Chinese. And I don't know where else you can get such a wide variety of dishes. I mean, I prefer the Cantonese style of cooking cuz I was raised on it, but when I was in Shanghai, damn! I miss the food so much. :( And I still haven't tasted the northern or western Chinese cuisine.
Somebody tell me what exactly American food is. I used to wonder as a child (actually, I still do wonder about this) what "American" families ate for dinner every night. And what is meatloaf? It sounds rather unappetizing . . . and heavy.

North American, cuz I like big meat and big portions. Anything European is a close second, though.

Oh, Italian all the way for me, with Japanese in a close second. The only one I really can't stand anymore is Mexican. Not because it's bad, but I lived near the border of Mexico for 11 years and got burned out on the stuff (no pun intended).
I'm not sure what exactly is meant by American food, but when I saw it, I thought of something like a steak, mashed potatoes, cornbread (no sugar... "sugar in cornbread is cake" ;) ), apple pie... come to think of it, wasn't ice cream invented in America? Not sure, I'll have to double-check the story behind that. Or maybe vegetables that grew here that were foreign even to the first European settlers, like corn.
(Note to self: Never post at odd hours in the morning again... brain doesn't function then.... :p )

Hard to decide on just one. I love Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian, as well as afternoon tea. These are favorites because I have them on occasion. Italian, Mexican, American (which does exist, food is often regionalized and America is no different, unique also because it's infused with lots of traditions brought over from immigrants - one big melting pot), and certain Chinese foods I can take on a regular basis.

Cajun food! I KNEW there was one popular category I forgot! Oh well. Too late now.
As for American, I meant places that serve stuff like burgers, sandwiches, chicken strips, steak...you know what I mean? Like, Marie Callendar's, T.G.I. Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Applebee's...I'm trying to think of other more nationally-known restaurants, but my mind's a blank.
Oh yeah, and that includes McD's, Burger King, and all those, too. Well, except Taco Bell. That would be Mexican. :)
Sorry for the confusion. :)
By the way, if any of you Chinese food fanatics ever come to northern California...well, San Jose, specifically :)...my family owns Fung Lum Restaurant (www.funglum.com...or is it funglumrestaurant.com? =X). They also have branches in Hong Kong. They DID have one in Los Angeles (just below Universal Studios), but apparently they weren't doing as well as the one here so as soon as my uncles were of retirement age, they decided to just shut the restaurant down entirely. :(
And what's the deal with Chinese fast food? Like, here there's Mr. Chau's (with an annoying jingle and little cartoon Chinese guy wearing an A's cap. To me that's an insult to the A's. =X) all over California, including one just down the street from my restaurant. And there used to be one called "OK Chinese Food". I'm guessing it wasn't OK. They got a new owner...but it's still a Chinese fast food place.

Mexican all the way, especially chimichangas. And, by the way, I like it hot, hot, hot! ;)
Italian. There's something about pasta... or any sort of noodles really, that I just love. But the pizza thing really got my vote. :)
