Are there any web pages that go in-depth about how this freaky thing came to be?
I think you know what it is. It shows a perfectly normal kitchen-type room, when all of a sudden the screen flashes, there's a scream, and this terrifying thing pops up. What's the deal with all this?

its...a joke. the idea is that you start looking indepth at the picture, looking for something wrong that is in fact not there, and then you're scared by a scream and a scary face. the better part comes from showing all your friends over AIM or E-mail. not much more to it than that.

That's a great joke. Got some friends really good this past Halloween with this set up

Okay, this has been around on the internet for awhile, but I thought maybe some of you might not have seen it yet.
See below - takes a while. Turn volume on as there is narration.
Apparently the owners of this house had been seeing images and hearing voices for quite a while. They did some research and found that a lady once lived in the house who lost her husband during the civil war. Legend says that she used to sit at the table and look across the fields in anticipation of her loved one returning home. He never came. So, they say she still waits. They caught this photo of what they claim to be her.
This one is wild and a little spooky once you find the ghost in the picture. It took me a while to find it, but when you do, it just stands out. Like one of those optical illusions.
To save you some time, concentrate around the table. Best not to focus too much on one spot. Look around the table and toward the window. If you don't see it at first, don't give up. It takes some people a minute or two to see it.

on a little side note, the guy who originally created this thing has stopped his site. it was originally created at www.jaybill.com , but now it exists through people who stole the animation from that site.

Since we're basically talking about an e-mail forward I think this will be happier on the Cafe.
This thing scared the crap out of me when I got it and I didn't want to go to bed afterwards :o (it was already late). I hate it.
