THIS IS INSANE!!!!
First there taking out the Spiderman trailer in theaters, for sensitivity for the WTC and now this!!
Cowboy Bebop and Gundam!!
I think they've gone to far, I for one want things to go back to normal. I'm sick of all this Media coverage, I wanted to watch Mad TV last night but instead I am bombarded with the WTC being blown up footage on every channel!
Bad enough that there was no "Unmasked" or new X-men, but this is like censorship!
People watch TV to esape form problems and life but now we can't seem to calm down when these images are all arond us, even outside our doors.
Alright, alright, I could go on with this rant, but I think all of us feel the same way, about this stuff.

Honestly, I hate CB. To me, it reeked of lameness (I'm a big E & C fan :D ) Please don't take offense. I'm not that much of a fan of anime. I only like Tenchi Muyo, DB, DBZ, Outlaw Star,Sailor Moon (So?),Ranma 1/2 and some times pokemon (Not that much though). To me CB was to serious. You know what I mean, right? I am also mostly a big classic animation fan.

"Too serious?" Ah well, whatever floats your boat. It was an innovative anime show that constantly experimented with juxtaposing music with imagery, and I wouldn't say it was THAT serious. The tone changes from episode to episode. Faye Valentine's past managed to be both sad and utterly hilarious at the same time. Edward Wong Hau Pepulu was a throwback to those eccentric characters from the 60s-70s. It is a welcome change from DB and DBZ and other action shows because it had a retro 70s flavour and, in my opinion, integrated it fairly well with the sci-fi setting AND it worked well despite the fact that one episode could be utterly serious and another would be pure comedy.
Heck, one episode even spoofed old blaxploitation movies AND silent cartoon/films from the 40s-50s (for those out there in the know--"Mushroom Samba")
On the other hand, I do like Sailor Moon and sometimes Tenchi, but more like "I know this is bad, but I like it anyway..."

Yeah it stinks that they're taking shows off the air right now like Batman Beyond's Unmasked. But I'm not crying right now or too upset because we are in delta mode which is practically war. I have a feeling these shows will surface again at a later date.

I can understand the removal of Gundam but the removal of CB is a little surprising, I'd rather see them edit it a little or skip a few episodes than totally remove it. I have the DVDs so it really doesn't affect me...except, why are they showing, what I consider to be, somewhat lame and NOT very adult oriented shows as a replacement? Couldn't they at least show something else, maybe rerun Blue Submarine or star showing BTAS instead?
Mushroom Samba was hilarious...Ein, and to a certain extend Edward, are great!

I bought the first DVD, but I wasn't impressed enough to buy another. My little brother has been watching it on Adult Swim though. He's got to like it. But, I doubt he'll be bumbed it's cancellation. He told me he was planniong on picking up the DVD sets anyway. That boy's got $$$. I talked to him last night over the phone. He asked me how much I made an hour. After I told him he paused and said, "Wow, that's pretty bad." I wanted to choke the lil' bastard thorugh the phone! ;)

Cowboy bebop, wether we liked the show or not (I thought it was ok,but not something i`d fume over missing like other shows) was responsible for a lot of the hype and ratings of adult swim. Now what will happen to it? =\

Why did you link it to the terrorist bombings? I don't think it was because of that, was it? Was there something about the Trade Centers in the series I forgot about?

Why else would they cancel is and replace it with that stuff?
Whats odd is, I just got finished watching last week's adult swim (I had to record the Thursday rerun since TiVo made a boo boo last Sunday) and they still ran it, since they were so fast acting with Gundam...how come this didn't get taken down right away? Not to mention, and those who watched the show know this, the 2nd episode of the night (4th in the series) dealed with eco-terrorists!!!

It's too bad it never even got a chance to get moving. While the first 4 episodes were interesting, episode 5 seemed to lock many of my friends permanently, and there were a lot of other interesting visual, aural and character goodies that the show had to offer later on. IMO, it could have been the "Sopranos" of Adult Swim, with the Brak Show and Sealab being the other two "cool" shows.
Of course, not everyone likes The Sopranos, so maybe my comparison is limp.

Who, me? It's honestly just a guess on my part (I hope that came across in the article), but it's an educated one. Cartoon Network doesn't pull shows after two weeks, it's not their style. Especially not after paying for the rights to the series. And while I've just seen the first four episodes, I'm honestly not sure what their worry was... I think they're being overly cautious in light of what happened. But considering how raw everyone is right now, I can understand.

I just don't recall if the upcoming episodes dealt with terrorists or not. I have to check.
For those of you who haven't seen this series before and CN was the only place you had seen it, I wish you'd go and seek out the DVDs. At least rent them, if you can, cuz the series is so awesome when you watch all the episodes together, and the last episode is one of the finest ever.

I have a feeling that Gundam and Cowboy Bebop will be back once more time has passed since the attacks. To put it simply--they've been paid for.

For those interested in the DVDs, Bandai is releasing a box set in november that will have a nice case to put all the DVDs in and I've heard will also include a soundtrack. Its going for about $150 online, pre-order.

That's a fair price, considering each disc separately cost $25.00 as it is, but this way you get the nice case and the soundtrack. If I didn't already have the DVDs and three volumes of the soundtracks, I'd snatch that bad boy up.
