In the February 22-28 issue of Tv Guide, there is an article about Cartoon Network's decline and the rise in viewers who watch Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel. The article is long so I will get to the part about Adult Swim. It reads:
" Cartoon Network's only bright spot has been its Adult Swim block of late-night animation. In January, Adult Swim was up to 100,000 viewers over the same period last year with its target 18- to-34 year old audience."
If anyone else has seen this entire article, could they please type it up and post about it in the appropriate thread/forum (would it belong in the General Animation board?)??
Please discuss.

As to the success of AS, not much more to say than

That article is way outdated and incredibly inaccurate.
Adult Swim gets more than 500,000 18-34 year old males alone. What is TV Guide smoking?

So "Low Brow" was chosen as the new Cartoon Cartoon series. Kick-ass.
The ****-load of anime series coming to Toonami should tighten some of that sag some.
Glad Adult Swim was the bright spot, 'cause the last thing we need is someone saying, "Adult Swim is failing!"
That's about all I can say right now. Must...sleep...

Are you just refering to the rating numbers, or anyother news bits (Like the bit about Low Brow becoming a series). It seems to at least cover the month of January, so it can't be that out of date. And as for inaccurate, maybe the T.V guide was off by some amount, but probably only a mistake in counting in the ratings. The rest of the news seems about right. After all, there have been only a few new episodes of Cartoon Network's "staple shows" on recently (Dexter's Laboratory, The PowerPuff Girls, etc) and spending less money on advertising would lead to a decline in viewers. Can you give some other specifics on how this article is inaccurate?

He just mean that there was an increase of 100,000 people over the previous year's time. He didn't actually say how many people watched at that time last year. So it is not inaccurate. It is also not outdated since it is dated February 22, 2003

The Leadoff Spot that is Futurama is the reason AS viewers is increasing last month. :)

Isn't SpongeBob, like, ending soon or something? That'll surely cause some decline in Nickelodeon... after it's been a while and kids realize it's in re-runs, that is... I mean, I think it's pretty obvious that SpongeBob is so much bigger than anything else on Nickelodeon right now.

It seems like he was trying to say that they increased TO 100,000 viewers, not increased BY 100,000 viewers.

Well at least it is halping out a bit but probbly not enough, due to this little quote, and it may still to continue to down fall it self untill it is in last place,
What's to blame for the slip? Internally, some are grousing that parent AOL Time Warner has taken Cartoon Network for granted. "Program and promotion budgets were cut," says a Cartoon Network insider. "Just when Nick and Disney were spending like crazy, we weren't given the resources we need to stay competitive."
Well let's hope that CN still stays alive.

Well, TV Guide sometimes implies on facts that were meant to be for otherwise. Like the example about 100,000 viewers.
