View Full Version : An Idea for a Show for Adult Swim

I just had this great idea for mature animated series that could do great on adult swim.

You know about all those shows and movies that show their idea of what the inside world of a computer and the internet looks like(such as Tron, Reboot, The Matrix, that ne episode of Futurama and so on)? Well why not make a comedic series about it? Where the inside world of the internet looks like a high-tech city, where web sites looks like museums or houses, shopping sites look like stores or malls, message boards are like UN rooms or bars, and chat rooms are like those net-cafes. Websurfers look like their avatars or sigs, and their actions on the net play like a smart and funny sitcome.(and of course spoofing cult-fav shows and movies)

There would be situations that are so true to the net but put into sitcome form, like a guy walks into a message board bar, filled with hard-core LOTR fans, and says he didn't like LOTR in there, few minutes later he comes bloody and bruised, holding cross on his back(to say was crucified in there for his comments). Another situation would be like in chat cafe, a guy goes around screaming "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!!!" till somebody couldn't takes it anymore, beats his ass and kicks him out of the chat cafe.

I would call it "Net-World" and I would have it directed by the creators of "Welcome to Eltingville" and the guys who did "the critic"

Your thoughts on my idea?

I dunno. I think, like Sealab, it'd be funny for one episode, but you'd run out of ideas pretty quickly.

With the many tribulations the internet has to offer? It would have enough for at least 2 seasons.

I don't think so. There should be more to the plot than that. The show just can't be making fun of the internet, because there's only really enough jokes about it to fit maybe 3 episodes.

If you want to get technical.. Its very simular to a series in production..

I just need to get off my ass and finish the Models.. -_-

I mean those little joke like that are side jokes, the plots to the eps would be like internet relationships, the idiot who gets into a cult site, guys hunting down a critic for bash LOTR, a guy who tries everything to get more people to go to his site, a huge virus devistating net-world like a old Godzilla Flick, and so-on.

It could work if it wasn't all about the net. Build some main characters, man! Maybe a few users who get into real-life situations...just on the net!...

It'd need a lot more in the developmental stage

That gets done so much (Jimmy neutron, Futurama, Fairly Odd Parents, etc.) that it's become cliche. It is pretty much a one-trick pony

Yea I was thinking......

Main Character-A average guy with a lame Superhero form who trys everything honest and legal to get more surfers visiting his site.

Side-kick/Best Friend one-A laid-back kind of guy who helps the main character with his problems.

Side-Kick/Best Friend 2-A Pervert with the form of a Wrestler who spends most of his time looking for porno and trying "meet" women in chats, he very very very seldome sucseeds.

Female Friend-A chick with the form of a anime, humaniod/cat babe who's easy going and open minded.

Mr.Know it All-A Nerd who has a half LOTR/half Star Wars character form, who's know what's what and knows almost every kind of pointless info about sci-fi flicks. Also goes around corecting others on their poor info to boost his ego.

Dorky Surfer-A dork who has the form a Mega-man spoof, who's been on the net for years but still makes newbie mistakes and thinks and old crap he finds is hot info(Much like that Yellow haired kid from "Welcome to Eltingville").

The Jerk-A self-sentered ass with a James Bond spoof form. He has tons of money put into his site(that is across the street from the main character) that everybody seems to go to. He even pays other surfers to some things that isn't very legal.

The Hackers-A secret cult of Hacker with differant form of the Grim reaper, that strikes fear into surfers as they creat viruses, destroy websites and just make net-world a not-so-better place.

If any you others got any ideas, tell them out.

Personally, I'd rather see the misadventures of Clark Kent, a non-Superman who puts his powers to use in situations of everyday life, like using heat vision to cut down that annying tree in your neighbors yard, or using super speed to switch ticket stubs with somebody at a crowded deli counter, then blinding the person with heat vision before they know what happened. And then Clark Kent would write articles about how sexy Superman is and using his super forgery powers sign them as Lois Lane. Because that show would own.
