Hey all. Anyway, I just started watching Lupin the 3rd of CN a little while ago (didnt want to at first. the animation kinda of reminded me of Inspector Gadget) and I'm enjoying it alot but I'm wondering: How many series/movies with Lupin are there? I know he was in "The Castle of Cogliostro" and the series CN is showing now is "the second season" but what about Lupin's 1st season? Was it any different then this one whatsoever?

There were three Lupin tv series. The first one starts off a little darker than the current one, but it sort of evolves over its 23 episode run. It isn't as funny as the second series. Zenigata is a bit more competant and doesn't seem to be the comic foil he became. Personally, I prefer the second series, but a lot of fans feel differently. There is also a third series, which I have not had the chance to watch. I expect it to be more of the same, but the actual artwork and character designs are quite a bit different.
As for the movies, there were 5 theatricals, 2 or 3 direct to videos, and something in the range of 15 made for TV movies that have been airing annually. Most of these have been liscenesed and will appear eventually. The ones that are currently available are Castle of Cagliostro, Dragon of Doom, Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure, and Legend of the Twilight Gemini. Mystery of Mamo is out of print, but you may be able to find it on Ebay. The first OAV is being rereleased on DVD soon, with Legend of the Gold of Babylon likely to follow.

If I'm correct, the one being aired currently is the original series from 1971... but I'm not entirely certain.
I've been tooling around trying to find an episode guide listing for any of the tv Lupin the Third series, but have yet to find a comprehensive listing.

Just remember:
Lupin in green jacket = First Series
Lupin in red jacket = Second Series
Lupin in pink jacket = Third Series

Not really. There are at least two episodes in the first season that are adapted from Manga stories. Those include the magician story, and the story where Lupin is thrown in jail. The anime throws Jigen and Fujiko in both of these stories, though, making for quite a few differences. There are probably more anime episodes adapted from the manga, but I haven't seen all of the first series or anything past the first manga volume.

He was in like the fifth(?) story in volume 1. He wasn't really introduced, he was just there. For some reason, Tokyopop went with the spelling "Gigen." Of course, Tokyopop sucks, so that's not too surprising.

Thank you so much!
Actually, part of my problem was that I had seen a couple episode guides, but the titles of the episodes didn't match what I'm seeing on AS. It appears that the original US titles differ from the titles AS is using. Example: Original US title for episode 204 (season 2, episode 4) is: I Can Hear Nessie's Song, while AS is airing that same episode under the title 50 Ways to Leave Your 50 Foot Lover.
