Well, I have 1000 hits and I realized that it doesnt matter at all whatsoever
Ive had a lot of fun and enjoyable times posting here at ToonZone but I dont understand why people want to race to "get the most posts" How is this supposed to be an accomplishment?! I know its on the FAQ board, but can anyone explain to me why people want to get a higher post counts?
Thank you for your time :)

That is what I'm wondering, but I know a few people like SpikeJet and Colin know more about it then me.

I don't think people are racing to get posts. I think its more like celebrating an anniversary. Its not a race, its just a random time to celebrate your time here.

Various reasons... It could be seen as 'power', as having a higher post count makes you better in one aspect than others with lesser counts. Also, having an obscenely high post count or posts per day could be a distinction and make you feel special because of it. Or they might just like to make a '1000 posts' thread. ;)

I wanted to ask this question for a while, and this was a good excuse to do it

It's not at all a problem like it used to be. I don't really know why people do. Maybe it makes them seem more like a "regular" poster, and that, in turn, makes them look smarter or better? Bragging rights? Ego-boost, because you make a thread where everybody congratulates you? I don't know.
The problem with it before was that it would quickly become a trend, as more users hop on the bandwagon, and it's not long before you get "200 posts!" "50 posts!" It really makes the board ugly and drains it quickly of colorful discussions like what's on the board now. On top of that, it makes posters more prone to thoughtless, pointless posts to quickly speed up their post count, and making subjects like... oh, I don't know.. "Poll: What do your toes smell like?"
There was a variation with it a while ago, when people put up a bunch of "Get to know me!" threads, and have other posters ask them questions about them. It was fine at first, but soon had the same problem as the post-count thread. The cafe is like that a lot, actually. Often, it never has any real problems... it's just that some sort of thing would become overabundant (Bashing women, politics, silly topics, etc) and then get really annoying. There's a lot of grey areas, but that's okay. It keeps us on our toes. ;)

You do? I hope its not past its sell by date by the time I get there then ... this is making me feel really inadequate ... I've only just clocked up a 100 :D j/k
I've come across this problem on my own boards and others I've posted at in the past, the worse case scenarios seem to be the ones where the admin has set 'levels' ie rookie, cadet, ensign, etc etc going right up to supreme galactic ruler or whatever , this seems to really press some peoples buttons and they'll do anything to bump themselves up a rank.
Coincidentally is there a postal limit say, similar to say the mile-o-meter (?) on a car dashboard? Can you 'clock' the system and go right round again or is it limitless? Silly question I know but the image of someone competitively posting like its going out of fashion and then finding they've suddenly been reduced right back round to 1 again makes me smile.

And Rune I'm one of them, and I'm sorry if I had to do that and all, and I appologise for it, I also have somthing here that Postcounts do not matter in any way here and that is a fact, so I do not know why people constantly do this because it is just senseless and all, so let's just have fun.

I don't really care about post counts. Yeah I know I made that thread a while back when I hit 1000 posts but I didn't mean anything by it. I think some people just think a higher post counts makes them better or something. I don't know.
