Well since I can't see them eitheir I'll say that you should just go with which ever one you think that fits you or you like the best.

I dunno.....the Second one has spunk and flare, it screams "I'M HERE LOOK AT MY POST" and "X MARKS THE SPOT BABY".

I can kind of grasp what your saying, but the first "X" seems kind of forbidding, like, "theres an X here, so you cant look at my picture" but the second one does have a spunk to it...

you know what might be a cool avatar? if your avatar actually looked like a picture that was unable to load (aka The X Picture). that's what id do.

if not that, then the second X. it totally rules over the first X.
