I really enjoyed seasons one and two, but I've gotta say, I've been a bit disappointed about this season. Not nearly enough stuff has happened. Where's the insight into mob life that we got last year? Last year it was Tony offing someone in witness protection, this year it's Christmas at the meat shop.
C'mon, guys.
I suspect that this season is just setting up next season. But that's not a good enough excuse for me. I was just about to cancel HBO when the first season of Sopranos started, but that made me keep it. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it for me to keep it anymore.

Keep it, man! Everything is bulding up to the season finale. I've been enjoying this season moreso than last season, but nothing can top season one. The controversy around this show, I think, is ridiculous. I say keep HBO one more year until the end of the Sopranos, which I heard ends after season four.

I wish I could comment on this all, btu I can't - I don't have HBO. :(
I own the first season DVD box set, and currently waiting on the second season set.

I do have HBO, but I've never watched the show. I'm a little sorry I don't--from what I've heard it's very Shakespearean, what with the family drama, the betrayal, the murder, and the carnal shenanigans.
Rush Limbaugh, a hero of mine, has spoken very highly of the show (despite detractors' complaints)...though yesterday he confessed to being disenchanted with the politicizing of it. It seems a female character whose husband has a broad on the side (like every other guy on the show, I've heard), likens herself to Hillary Clinton, and in under two minutes goes from calling her an idiot for staying with Bill despite his ten million trysts to calling ol' Hill a role model for women in America.
I'm all for social conciousness, but a sitcom/drama doesn't need to pander and make pop culture references in every other line. When the writers show they've gotten that lazy that's about when a series starts swirling down the porcelain....

It's still okay, from what I've seen, but it seems to have fallen into that 'shock for shock's sake' mode that so many popular shows fall into when their heads get too big. The first season was good because the shocks came naturally, not in a contrived manner. They were well-integrated into the plots, and logical. Some of this season's seem too calculated.

I'm not a Rush fan, but I noticed that too. Like, Ok, What's the point here? It was like they wanted to plug Hillary, but didn't want to offend to many conservatives so they maligned her at first, then brought it around to a compliment. And if you're gonna plug someone try to be a little more subtle about it.

I disagree. I don't think they were trying to plug Hilary at all. The purpose of the scene was toremind the audience that Carmela's considering leaving Tony. They're just building up to next episode. And people discuss current events. I don't see it as being contrived at all.
Also, I think this season has been pretty good. Could've been better, but I really don't have too much to complain about.

What I'm worried about is that they're building up to next season . And we'll have endured what IMO is a less than stellar season, just so they don't have to work as hard making both seasons awesome.
