Ta da! Its a Green Lantern RPG! This will be a custom character RPG and the characters so far are:
[Condiment King]
Name:Rob Christenson
Location: New York City, USA
Hometown: New York City, USA
Occupation: Freelance Writer
Marital Status: Single
Hair: Black
Eyes: Green
[LM1313]
Tel'ak Ren was an explorer, mercenary and sometimes-thief who went scrounging around the ruins of Oa. He was hoping to find something salvageable, but certainly didn't expect to find an emerald green ring with the sands sifting off of it . . . almost as if it wanted to be found. Putting on the ring, he unexpectedly found himself garbed in the uniform of the long-dead Green Lantern Corps. After meeting up with other ring-bearers, he cautiously joined the new Corps. Granted, he's never been a joiner, but it certainly beats starving, after all, and there's nothing shabby about the powers of the emerald ring! Besides, now he has an advantage if some of his old "friends" come around demanding that he pay off those old debts . . . the ones you have to pay in blood . . .
General description:
Tel'ak is your standard blue-skinned, four-armed alien, if they can be said to be standard. White eyes, no pupils. Four fingers. A practically perfect example of a Romarian . . . not "perfect" in the sense of physical superiority, but a perfect example as an average member of his species. In fact, he is statistically mediocre in almost every way. Still, being an average Romarian still puts him above most species in terms of physical agility and endurance.
Unaspiring, he has not been particularly successful at anything. Has a general air of moral ambiguity, but the fact that the ring revealed itself to him suggests he has unrealized potential and perhaps a deeper set of values than he is willing to admit . . .
[The DarkKnight]
Name: Val-Jamar
Occupation: Space pilot and at one time a part time smuggler.
General Appearance: Humanoid. Fair skinned. Thin build.
Native planet: Duldar
Hair Color: Short black hair. Small braid in back, a customary mark of a space pilot on his home planet.
Eye color: A perfect blue color, common among natives of his planet, though it is not uncommon for Duldarions to have an eye color change as they get older.
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 217 pounds
Age: 24 Earth years.
Relatives: Kalaa, father, deceased. Mara, mother, deceased. Malea, sister.
Ring wielding style: Val-Jamar wields his ring in a very offensive manner. He prefers to stay on the attack than to be defensive. If a young man is seen to have potential, he is trained in the highly skilled weapons of his planet. Especially slaves. As one Val became very adept at using these weapons which require great skill and in the untrained hand pose more of a threat to the wielder than anyone else. In using the ring he usually creates constructs of these weapons.
Bio: Val-Jamar was born on the planet of Duldar to Kalaa and Mara Jamar. His father had at one time been a Pilot for the Fighter Force of his home planet, but after being discharged due to unproven charges of treason he was forced to become a miner. The job of miners was a lowly and looked down upon job but the only one available to some one dishonorably discharged from the Fighter Force. When Val was seven his father was killed in a mining accident. This proved to be one of two events that would shape Val's life. Unable to make any money (in that period of Duldar's culture women were not allowed to work except as slaves) the Jamar's were sold into slavery by planet law. However, Val's sister Malea was not bought with him and his mother and he would not see her for a long time. When Val was fourteen he and his mother attempted an escape but were eventually caught and his mother was shot and killed. This was the second event that shaped his life. By law, he was old enough to live without a guardian so he moved around the planet before moving in with a pilot named Kol Nohor. He tough Val every thing about flying a spacecraft. When he was old enough he joined the Fighter Force determined to succeed where his father had failed. But he too was not too make it. He was discharged due to excessive bursts of anger. When he finally found his sister, still in slavery it was too much for him. He became a space pilot smuggling goods for money. His intended to stop when he got enough money to buy Malea back, bet even after he did it was hard to forget his old life. At the present he is a pilot for Fercom a large industry that ships goods, and develops new spacecraft. He is still haunted by his old "friends" he made in his old smuggling life.

[Emerald Warrior]
Real Name: Jaxen Wilder
Height: 5’12”
Weight: 175 Lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Base of Operations: New York City, New York (2075)
Occupation: Soldier
History:
Jaxen Wilder was your average soldier…for the first year. After that, he became a sort of rogue. On a routine training mission, he saw what he thought was a shooting star. When he got there, what he saw was no shooting star. It was an injured Green Lantern, who was dying. Before he died, he gave the ring to Jaxen to “save the universe”. When he put the ring on, the story of how his predecessor died unfolded before him. A rogue Green Lantern had stolen a powerful new ring and started his own army. This army quickly overwhelmed the Corps and killed more then half of the Lanterns. One of the few surviving left Oa to find help. On his way, he was ambushed and nearly killed. He managed to make his way to Earth and found Jaxen. After receiving the ring, he was called to an isolated planet just outside the reach of the new threat. There, he began training with one of the surviving Lanterns and became the newest member.

OOC: Well, folks here she is. I know she pretty long but it's the first one. I strongly suggest you read my character information firt, it's helpful.
IC: Val-Jamar
What date are we going to use? I'm not going to put one up till we talk about that.
A short cut. That's what is was going to be a short cut. So much for my great ideas. Of course the authorities at Talea 4 aren't exactly the most forgetful folks. And those blasters I smuggled a few years ago didn't exactly go over with them. But you'd figure that after what, two maybe three years they'd forget wouldn't you? And not five minutes after I step foot on the planet they're all over me. So now I'm on the run. Again. Course no one really like Talea 4 so it's not like anyone is going to help them. But that's where the short cut comes in. See, I figured that I would just cut through this extremely unexplored, very uncharted region of space and I could shake. Well it worked but I'm sure that it had something to do with that gigantic, ionic level 7 solar storm that is sweeping through this area. Of course I threw caution to the … stars and did it anyway figuring I could pass through the sector before the solar storm. Of course as usual I was wrong.
"Ionic levels rising, shield reverting to auxiliary power"
That blasted computer thinks it knows everything.
"Yeah tell me something I don't know."
Like that is actually offended by my statements. Shields won't last long. After they go I won't be far behind. A Talea 4 holding cell is looking pretty good about now. None of the monitors are showing much new. Just that the storm is getting closer and worse. I better boost the engines. I boost the power to the main boosters and fire up the ion jets.
"Mass scanners showing a large planetary mass at forty nintograms."
A planet? Well for the sake of the galaxy let's go.
"Revert to manual navigation. Full power to forward speed. Cut auto course navigation and get the coordinates to that planet. We're landing."
I grip the forward controls tight while making a speedy course for that planet. My eyes stray to the scanners. Hmmm, the atmosphere should be breathable by me. And it's thick enough to weather the storm. If I make it in time I ought to be able to survive intact.
"Solar storm intensity increasing by one level."
That's it. This ship isn't going to survive. I reach up and flip a few switches on the main power system control bard boosting all power to the forward thrusters. So what if I burn out the circuits like I said this ship's not going to survive.
In a last burst of speed my faithful ship shoots forward in it's last flight. Not much I can do except keep her from going incredibly off course which is hard to do at this range. In the last moments of my ship's life is falls to through the planet's atmosphere like a burning comet. I'm getting jolted up pretty good.
I gradually ease out of my chair. Smoke is everywhere and most of the circuit board connected to the main power supply are on fire. Well I'm not leaving this planet anytime soon. The hydraulics on the door are broken so a good, solid kick has to do.
I step out slowly onto the planet. The surface is covered as far as I can see in fine, soft, sand. Mountains jut abruptly out of the sand in a haphazard manner like crooked broken teeth. Not to far away I can see a ring of these crooked, broken mountains. Well, I guess that is my best bet to find inhabitants so I better make tracks.
It seems like hours later. It might be. I'm just coming over the edge of the mountains. Here's hoping there is a town or something over here.
Ruins. Nothing but ruins. Down below in a valley there are the ruins of what looks like was once a great building. Now it lies in broken pieces, the dome shaped food cracked and broken. Large gaping holes in places. Parts of it are partially submerged beneath the sands. Well it's my only bet for survival.
Well getting down into the valley isn't as easy as I hoped. It's steep and treacherous. I've about tripped and broken my neck twice. But finally I arrive at the ruins. Don't have to worry about getting in. All I need to do is take my pick of which whole strikes my fancy. I step through a hole, and well, to put it lightly inside isn't exactly what you'd expect to find from a normal set of ruins. It is in fact, quite advanced looking. All sorts of odd-looking computers and technology once used for some forgotten purpose.
Might as well take a look around. Just as I start to walk around I realize that I haven't even seen the weirdest part yet. In about the center of the room is a skeleton. That right a skeleton clothed in tattered black and green garments. Right above his head is what looks like, a green lantern. His hand is outstretched, as if trying to reach it. On the middle finger of his the bony hand is a ring. I take a step forward and things start to get weird.
The lantern looking thing starts to glow. A weird green light starts to fill the whole room. And then the ring starts to glow. And then, it starts to move. It comes of the skeleton's hand and starts to fly around the room. I was just figuring it was time to leave, when the ring starts to hover in front of my face, bathing me the same light that now fills the room and putting me is some kind of paralyzed state.
And just when things couldn't get any weirder a holographic image of a short little blue guys starts to come out of the lantern looking thing. It must be a recorded message of some kind. The blue guy is lying on his side, obviously in pain. Then it talks.
"My name is Ganthet. I am the last of the Guardians of the Universe. Much evil has befallen today but you must learn of that in your own time. My life quickly draws to an end. In front of you is the last of a legacy, but not for long. The ring if it finds you worthy, will reproduce four copies and go into the galaxy seeking wielders. And, uuu, Time grows short. That rings can make more ri, ngs. Uu, the rest you must learn for your self."
That's it? What the heck is even going on here? Well I guess I better wait and find out. That ring that was hovering in front of me is starting to move again, it begins to move around me in circles, gaining speed with very circle and moving more rapidly. Finally it hovers in front of my face again. With a blinding blast of light of beam of this energy shines right into my head. It starts to descend. Without my control my arms moves upward, my middle finger extended. The ring moves onto it.
And then, just as the image had said, four rings were created each out of the ring on my finger. And then, each one soared upward towards the heavens leaving a green comet like tail behind.
As soon as they had left as a green light bathed me and a sleek green and black suit was on me. Woo, I could get to like this. And then, my body control came back to me and a green light encircled me. Then, out of the light a voice, like the voices of millions begins to chant a sacred oath:
In Brightest Day in Blackest Night
No Evil Shall Escape My Sight
Let Those Who Worship Evil's Might
Beware My Power Green Lantern's Light!

Newspapers. My father always said that there was never anything good in 'em except the comics and that cheap version of the tv guide. Wasn't the first time he was right. I toss a newspaper back and forth in my hand, pondering whether to buy it. I guess I caught someone's eye.
"What do you think this is? A library or somethin'?"
Ugh, stupid newsstand owner. It boggles my mind how some retailers feel that yelling at customers will bring new ones in. I slam the newspaper down back on the rack, making it swing a bit and walk off. Meh, his loss. Maybe this suffering blow will force his stand out of business.
I stroll along the sidewalk, doubling the speed of the cars in stand still traffic and hearing enough horns to make my head spin. Ah, New York. Gotta love it.
With the bell at the door officially announcing my walk-in, I take up a stool at Joe's Diner. I've been to this place every day for breakfast since I was 12. Used to go all the time with my dad. He seems to be pushing in my thoughts more than I'd like lately, what with the funeral and all....
"What'll it be, kiddo?"
Breaking my thoughts is Joe himself. He's been calling me kiddo since I was 12 too. If he called me that at 66, I would still allow it. Never gets old.
"Wha....ah...just coffee today, Joe."
"Heheh, seems yous could need it, kiddo."
I let my face fall on the counter and ran my head through my hair. Ignoring a kid that is staring at me to my right, I am lost in my thoughts. Geesh....I never really got to know my mom. She died when I was pretty young. I guess it gave me a false pretense that my dad would always be there.
"C'mon, son. I know that its hard. You just have to buck up. See....I miss her too. Its so hard. But, I know that mom is looking down on us and she wouldn't want us to not going on living. Not to have fun? Right?"
I shake my head, teary eyed.
"Alright..."
Dad pats my head and puts his hand on my shoulder as we head into some diner. Never saw it before. Gah..I miss her. I'm beginning to forget her. Its been only two weeks, how will I eve remember?
Dad guides me to a stool and I sit next to him. He doesn't even have to ask what I want. He orders my favorite, scrambled eggs. Mom used to fix the other kind. The yucky one. I wouldn't mind it about now...
I look down at the counter and let my face fall on it. I run my hand through my hair as my dad looks on, worried.
"Rob! Rob!"
I warily snap out of my daydream and look at Joe. Joe motions to the coffee. I take it.
"Oh.......thanks Joe."
"No problem."
I motion to my wallet. He shushes me.
"Its on da house."
I smile. Reliable Joe. I've never given Joe a dime in ten years. Hard to believe how ten years has gone by so fast...
My name is Rob Christenson, I'm 22, and the only thing I can depend on is free coffee. Yay.....

OoC: OK, great job starting it off, guys. For the purposes of this post, Val-Jamar's replicates of the ring have been sent into space searching for wielders. Note of interest: since this is on another planet, its time isn't synchrnoized with Earth. It says 8 AM, but it's night-time on Tay 1. Got it? Good.
IC: Zan Velin 8:23 AM Earth time
"Velin! Velin, we know where you are! Make it easy on yourself and give up."
I scoff lightly. Give up. Throw away two years of freedom just to be put in the slammer again. Not likely. Not a bit likely.
I run through the dark alleys, clutchin' my hard-earned bread. Well, soon to be hard-earned anyway. It wasn't much work swipin' it, but the runnin' sure makes up for it.
I find myself at a dead-end and curse softly. I hear the scuffle of the catchers' feet, but the echoes of the alleyways distort the direction. They could be anywhere. Only one way to find out.
I concentrate and put a hand to my temple. I hear the whir of my eyes -- the ones I got when I was eight -- and I suddenly see differently. I can see through things. Well, somewhat. I can see outlines and blurred figures. But that's enough. I spot the group of catchers sneakin' behind the building to my left. Robo-eyes come through again.
"Smell ya later," I mutter as I grip the ladder to my right. I stuff the bread into my mouth and climb up, strugglin' not to bite into the morsel. Bread always tastes better after a good run from the catchers.
It's been this way for two, long years. Steal, run, eat. Today I tried to change the routine and ask for food...beg, in other words. But I decided against it. I still had my pride. The law could take everything but my pride.
I run atop the rooftops, confident that I'll lose them this time. Sure enough, I hear the frustrated scream of the lead catcher, Landebark. Guy's been after me for years. In fact, he was the one who caught me, the son of a tlein.
Not today, pally, I think. Not again.
I land softly on a pile of rags. They smell like puke, but I'm grateful that they're there. I've had broken bones and the pain isn't somethin' I want to experience again. It takes a lot to break my bones if I'm healthy. But when they get those freenin' diamonds near me, just about anythin' can bring me down.
We Taitians have an allergy to diamonds. Weakens us, makes us vulnerable to just about anything. That's why the catchers use diamond staffs. Beat-sticks, we call 'em. That's what broke my bones. That's what I'm runnin' away from.
I'm in the clear. My mouth waters as I bring the bread closer to my face. I can smell it, I can almost taste it. My stomach rumbles. Growls, even. I've been waitin' for this moment. I'm gonna get my reward...
I stop. I listen. I hear the light sobbing of a child. Turning around, I use my robo-eyes to see behind the nearby dumpster. A tiny figure, curled up in a little ball. Seems to be a girl. Could be a boy for all I see. Doesn't matter. Point is, it's hungry. And it's young. It needs this more than me.
Part of me tries to stop myself from throwin' the bread over the dumpster. But it fails. It's out of my hands. My stomach screams in protest. I leave before the kid can see who threw the food. No mushy thank yous for me...I've suffered enough.
Suddenly, I see a bright green flash above me. A green streak flies through the night sky and disappears behind a building. Then, I hear a loud crash and the clattering of metal falling to the ground.
"What the freen?" I say out loud. Well, I've got nothin' more to lose. I walk toward the place where the green thing hit...

IC : Downtown Orlando, 09:03 PM
I walk down the streets of my hometown Orlando. Newspapers float across the ground as a small breeze comes by, a child crying in the alleys can be heard. I pass a possible crack deal going down, on the corners of the streets women selling there bodes off for top dollar.
Slowly rain droplets hit the great at such a calm speed. My coat will keep me warm for awhile but I need more heat. I hear a woman screaming in the streets as several men chase after her with weapons. She rans behind the local bar as one of them tackles her down and put his hand on her mouth as the other gather around
"Listen lady, if ya just shut up and let us get the money I promise won't kill ya fast"
I always have to be a good samaratin, don't I? I think to myself as I run to where the woman is
"Leave her alone" I yell at them as I walk closer
"Yo man, mind your own damn business!"
"I said leave her alone, if you know what is good for you"
"Good for me? Good for me?! Men, slice this jerk up"
Ok, 4 guys with weapons against little old me....they should have brought more back-up. The men start to run up at me, I swiftly dodge to the right as one man tries to stab me with a switchblade. I grab his elbow bending it making him scream like a little girl. I grab his hair tossing him into some garbage cans. Another one comes with a stick to me, before he gets close to me I make a leap to the wall jumping off it sending a backkick to his head knocking him out on inpack.
The other two try to come at me at the same time, I am starting to get tired of this. I move both my fists to their guts knocking the air out of them but before I am able to finish them off a green light flies across the sky hiting an old warehouse near the bar. I throw the two men down as I go to investage.
"Good lord...."

OOC: In case any one cares the GL costume I'm using isn't the one from the comis, it's the one that Kyle Rayner wore in the STAS episode "In Brightes Day". IT is all black except for green boots, green bands around my wrists, and the green thing around my shoulders with the GL insignia. And I have a mask that goes over my eyes too. I don't care what costume version eery one else is using.

IC: Val-Jamar
Monday January 21 8:45
So much has happened and I don't even know what it means. I've got some ring that I have no idea what it is on my finger. And I'm clothed in some black and green suit. I've even got a mask over my eyes. And, well things just have to stay weird don't they? Now that lantern looking thing is coming towards me. I wait for a moment, and then in a flash of green light it shoots into the ring. That's right it just all of a sudden disappeared into the ring on my hand.
Confused I walk back out of this ancient wreck. I step back out the hole I came through and look around. How will I ever get off this planet. Well, I never will if I don't at least try. With a deep inhale of air I trudge back up the jagged mountains I came down.
Sweating, thirsty, and tired I drop. I've just reached the other side. A little ways off I can my ship lying like a broken wreck. Well really it is a broken wreck.
Summoning the last of my strength I trek towards my ship. I get there and find what I expected to. Smoking, fiery piece of scrap. A low humming sound catches my. Oh damn it. The auto distress beacon got turned on. Oh damn it. I didn't turn it on because when you're on the run turning a tracker beacon on isn't a real bright idea. It looks like the auto beacon came on while I was busy just trying to land in one piece. Now anyone could tune in and find me. I step out of the ship, depressed would be a good way to put it.
Turning my head I look in all directions. In the distance a bright bluish haze catches my eye. Wait, I know that color. That's the glow of an Ion engine cooling down. But what would a ship advanced enough to have ion engines would be on and uncharted planet?
Wait, I just might know. Well, being a smuggler myself I should know. Smuggling rings have all kinds of uncharted planets, asteroids, moons, and about everything else you can think just for hideouts. They usually meet there about once a month to look over their haul, split loot, and raise hell. Who would have thought that I would land on a planet that is being used by smugglers? I wonder why they never found that lantern, or the ring.
Figuring that I don't have much choice I start to walk towards the light. The worst they can do is kill me. Great. I've got some kooky costume on too. I close my eyes just wishing that is was a bad dream. Can't I get this thing off? I open my eyes ready to go on, only to find the weirdest thing. The costume is gone. That's right. Gone. The ring is still on my finger but I'm dressed in my old clothes again. This might not be so bad after all.
After a while I finally get close enough to hear some stuff. Nothing out of the ordinary, what you'd expect. Cursing, jokes, arguing, yelling, fighting, the usual. They even have some women for entertainment. Don't want to rush into anything. I decide to walk out a little ways, and came back if they aver go to sleep.
After walking out a little ways I start to sit down until a voice freezes me.
"Jamar!
I look up. Oh great. Two enforcers for Hiatea Irkina, a crime lord I smuggled blasters, drugs, and various other items for a couple of years ago. This is just great. The ugly one, well they're both ugly but the really ugly speaks again.
"Well, well, if it is our good buddy Val-Jamar. Who would have thought that we would run into you out here? Or could it be that we locked onto your distress signal and decided to come to your rescue?"
Miserable losers. Their kind are all to common. They find out a price is on someone's head so they get a job on a snuggling cruise knowing that sooner or later they'll run into him. But why would I have a price on my head?
"Uuu Jamar, why did you do it? Master Irkina hired you to smuggle blasters for and what do you do? Out of every shipment you skim a few blasters off the top and resell them. You did the same with the drugs and other items."
That's ludicrous. No way am I stupid enough to steal from Hiatea Irkina. I may have been a smuggler but I wasn't stupid.
"Yes Jamar, you have erred and for that, we will fill you with more hole that a Cretorian Asteroid."
Oh boy.

Monday, January 21, 9:00 A.M.
Memories. The enemy of my brain. They surround me now. I'm trapped. Geesh, I hope I'm not going crazy. Nah, I'm not. It just gets really lonely as an only child and your parents are gone too.
I tip Joe anyway and walk out, waving to him. As a grab my coat, I walk outside back into the real world, back into all my problems. Suddenly, fate gives me another curve ball.
"What's that?" I mutter, under my breath.
A green flash flys across the sky and lands right in front of me! At the tip of my shoes. Looks like a ring. I look around. Looks like I'm the only observant person here. Nobody else saw it. What the heck? It was right there for all to see. You couldn't miss that if you can't miss a beaming 747.
Scratching my head, I lean over and pick up the green ring and put it on. Suddenly, I change into this whacked out Green costume. Wait a minute! That's Green Lantern! That's a Green Lantern costume! Oh my gosh!
I look around again to see nobody paying attention yet again. I duck in between alleys. All I can do is stand amazed next to a dumpster in a back alley. Oh man, what has happened to me....
"C'mon, bucko. Let's hit that comic shop!" My dad says.
I smile. I loved comics. It was a fantasy world that you could just leap into and never get out of. You didn't have to worry about your actual problems in the world for the fifteen minutes that you had to read it in.
"How about this, kiddo. You wash the dishes tonight and I'll get you two comics. How's that sound?"
My dad waves that five dollar bill in front of my face and I look up and nod.
"Thanks, dad."
"No, problem, kiddo."
We continue walking and pass this man in leather and he has a knife. He notices us.
"Hey! STICK 'EM UP! YOU HEARD ME!"
"Alright. Alright. Just don't do anything to us."
"Hey, man. This all you got? Maybe, you need a little incentive."
The jerk grabs me and I'm bawling now, scared for my life. Lunging for my dad. My dad goes postal. He jerks the guy by the collar.
"You listen and you listen good, son. I'm not afraid to meet my maker today, but believe me YOU WILL and if you harm my son."
"Oh, is that so?"
Then, in a green flash comes my hero. Green Lantern.
"Hehe, where do these jerks come from nowadays?" GL smirks, making a construct of a hammer, pounder the mugger.
He takes my dad's wallet out of his hands and gives it to my dad.
"Sorry about that, friend."
"Thank you. Thank you, Green Lantern."
My dad shakes his hand and I smile.
"And who are you, little guy?"
"Go on, tell him your name, son."
"...R--Rob."
"Rob. Nice to meet you. Want to make that $5 worth a lot more?"
GL signs my five dollars.
"How's that man?"

"Hey, no problem. It was nice to meet you."

I stare at the crashsite of the green streak in the sky. A vibrating green glow shines on and off from what appears to be a ring. It's light amazes my soul....it is so pure, I rake a step close to it then suddenly the ring shifts it's direction to me. It flies up into the air faster then I could blink, the light ceases to flicker and the glow just stays on. I do not move as the ring slowly make's it's way to me, it rests in mid-air infront of my face. I go to touch it and then it stops floating.....it falls into my hand as if a normal ring.
Suddenly I hear a voice coming from it, it is to low for me to make out what it is saying till I relieze what I am holding
"Holy Lord.......This is a Power Ring from Planet Oa"
I say to myself in my mind, I relieze that it has chosen me as it's wearer. I slowly put the ring onto my finger. I can feel the power as it moves closer but then as the ring fits onto my hand my mind goes out of control. Shocks pulse through my body....a voice screasm louder and louder until it almost causes me to become deaf. The massive power of the ring lights up the street, the neighborhood and then the City. I fall to my knees in pain as I hear the voice chanting something...it is almost holy, my brain is partly taken over by this power
"In brighest day
In darkest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power...
GREEN LANTERN'S LIGHT!!"

Oh boy. When two enforcers working for a bounty say they are going to fill with holes, they generally mean it.
The one that has spoken yet speaks into a communicator.
"Touma and Kiula here, we've found Jamar. Send Nuto over here.
I give them a good look over. The one that has been doing all the talking is tall, easily seven feet. He's covered in green, reptilian scales. Two horns protrude from his hairless head. The other one is a short, yellow blob. With four arms and three legs. Otherwise he is pretty featureless. The reptilian keeps his laser rifle trained on me.
I take a quick look around. They picked the perfect spot to ambush me. No rocks or other cover around. I'm backed up against a cliff. There is a ledge a little above me. I'd never get up there before they shot me to pieces. I hope they haven't noticed my blaster. I slowly start to move my hand to the blaster handle.
"IenwqoOW ! ifo !ka!!ooqq ! @fw"
I look at the source of the voice. He must be the one they called over. He's a eight foot hairy ape. Not much else to say about him.
"Nuto! It's about time you got here!"
Both by captors turn their head for a moment to look at the hairy newcomer. That's all the opportunity I need. I reach for my blaster pull out before any of them know what's happened and fire away. One blast hits the green lizard one, knocking him backwards into the hairy one.
The yellow one fires a laser rifle at me. It I duck and twirl around and fire a blast at him. Eggg. It takes his arm off and a gooey yellow goop globs out of the wound. I hate people like him, nothing inside.
Before he can recover and fire another blast I'm on him. I swing back, fully concentrating on a swing when the oddest thing happens. Out of the ring, a green fist appears and smacks into the yellow blob. He falls backwards.
No time to think about what just happened. I swirl around and start firing blaster shots at the green one and the hairy one. The green one's thick but I finally get through. The hairy one stumbles around a little before I finally bring him down. These three aren't the only ones. I better get out of here before their buddies get here.

The alley where the green thing crashed is glowin' brighter than the fifth sun. On Tay 1, glowin' stuff usually means poisonous radiation, but I don't slow down. I credit it to hunger. Hunger makes you work weird.
There it is, lying next to a foul-smelling trash can. It's a ring, glowing bright green. I look at it curiously. I've never been one to wear jewelry, but if it can get me a couple of bucks...
I bend over and pick it up. Suddenly, it starts spinnin' like a top and floats in the air. Then it starts spinnin' round me, forming a green ring 'round my waist. I'm startin' to get freaked out, scared I guess you could say. There aren't many times I can admit to that, but this is one of them.
The ring flies onto my finger. My eyes widen as I hear the boom of many voices chanting in unison:
"In brightest day
"In blackest night
"No evil shall escape my sight!
"Let those who worship evil's might
"Beware my power--
"Green Lantern's LIGHT!"
I feel power surgin' through me as my clothes disappear, replaced by some spiffy green and black threads. There's something like a clink in my head as if this ring is attaching itself to my mind.
Prove yourself, I hear.
Then a totally different sound invades the alley. Landebark and his fellow catcher goons barge in with their beat-sticks and they have me cornered. The diamonds glint menacingly and I feel that mental link weakening, overpowered by my reaction to the gems.
The catchers look so cocky in their purple exo-suits which protect 'em from their own weapons. They think it makes 'em look so powerful. I think it looks fruity.
"So," Landebark growls. "Stealing clothes now, Velin? And I thought you couldn't sink any lower."
"Why don't you shove that beat-stick down your throat, Landebark?" I growl as I feel my muscles go limp from exposure.
The diamond comes swingin' toward me and I barely have enough time to duck. I think I felt the ring pulling me away from danger, but even if it did, I know my link won't last long in the presence of those staffs.
I want to run. I want to get away. My ring finger tingles slightly as if trying to respond to my wishes, but it's hopeless. It's leaving me as my mind clouds. I collapse to the ground just as another beat stick crashes into the circuit-box right behind me.
I hear the sparks fly from the box and I hear flames come to life. I smile as my eyes close. The wiring in this area has been faulty for as long as I can remember. The slightest disturbance could set the whole 'hood ablaze. Especially since the Taitian metal used in electronics, xaxian, is prone to being explosive.
Burned alive...starved to death...same difference, I think, close to blacking out.
BOOM!

In retrospect, it was a really, really dumb idea. Maybe there was a reason why everyone avoided Oa, y'know? Maybe it was haunted or sacred or whatever the Rumor o' the Week was about the dead planet.
But I got to thinking . . . if you wanted to protect something, something powerful or valuable, wouldn't spreading nasty rumors about spirits and flesh-eating crabs be the FIRST item on your agenda?
Well, I found out Oa's secret, all right. It's the most mind-numbingly boring place in the universe.
I should know; I've been stuck here three days. It feels like three weeks. Maybe months. Years would be stretching it a little, but not much.
The strange thing is . . . there's nothing wrong with the ship. Nothing, naught, nada. I've checked that crate over time and time again. Nothing's broken. Not out of fuel. Not even dented. But if you try to start it, it sputters a little, rises maybe two feet off the ground, and then without even a bleep of warning, all the systems die. It's like . . . like something wants to keep me here.
That's ridiculous, of course. Who would want me?
The strangest part is the ring, though. I found it the first day, half-buried in the sand. A green ring.
A pretty blatant copy of a Green Lantern ring, in fact. They sell these things at souvenir booths all over the galaxy. Great for rooking tourists. A couple years ago there was a weird fad on Galantis-4 where people would use them as engagement rings. On Zeratem, youth gangs put 'em on their eyestalks. Kids these days, huh? Weird.
Anyway, I didn't think much of it; I left it there and went to check the anti-grav drive--AGAIN! But when I turned around--there was the green ring, sitting by my toolbox. Okaaaay . . .
It didn't really register at the time; I'd just hit my thumb with the pliers and I was kind of, well, swearing. But later I went to get some rations out of the cargo hold--and there the damn thing was again, sitting on top of the crates this time.
It only got more bizarre from there. The ring was everywhere, even though I never saw it move. Maybe this place really is haunted.
So right now I'm sitting in the shade of my ship, holding the green ring and just . . . looking at it.
I keep telling myself not to be stupid--it's just a cheap trinket made to part the foolish with their cash.
Don't let yourself believe, I keep thinking. You'll only be disappointed.
But part of me wants to believe.
Maybe part of me needs to.
And really, what can it hurt?
Oh, what the hell. I shrug two shoulders and slip the ring onto one of my pale blue fingers . . .

Well I got away from those bounty hunters but I'm not safe yet. There's a whole camp of rowdy smugglers just around the next cliff. Which is why I'm getting out of here.
I start to run, my whole body just wanting to get out of here when all of a sudden the ring starts to glow. This is too wierd. My arm jerks forward I start to run forward faster than I ever have. Funny thing is my feet are hardly moving. It's almost like the ring is moving me. Silly I know.
I've got to think this over. This is not right. I look down. I'm back in the green and black costume. I guess it came back when the ring started to glow. Well I sit and start to think things over.
Looking back I have heard of this planet. It's an old hideout for smugglers and thieves and just about anybody else that's running from the law. But they say it's haunted. I always just figured that it was a rumour started to keep everybody away but with what I've been through I'm not so sure. I don't know why I didn't realize what planet this was.
There's something else that's been bugging me. This costume and ring seem somehow vaguely familiar in the back of my mind. I think I saw some of these rings for sale once but I'm not sure.
I get up and start to move around. I just wish I could see if....Wait a minute, there's a ship in the distance! I can just see a silver glint in the distance. Has to come from a star ship. And it's not one of the smugglers or it would be with the rest.
Suddenly, it's wierd I can almost feel the power in the air. My ring starts to glow and then a beam shoots out pointing to that ship. It's almost like I'm supposed to be there.

Is it wrong to pretend to be a kid again? Is it wrong to just hide from this world, close your eyes, and dream you are flying.
This is practically what I am doing. After I got the ring, I didn't take any more chances, and flew to the top of some building. Forget which, but noone can see me up here, unless they're a hawkeye. I've been flying around and trying out the ring for the past fifteen minutes.
I make a shovel and fly to the old junkyard. I try my hand at picking up various items. Garbage can. Some doll. Then, the strangest thing happens. I try to pick up a Homer Simpson doll, the one from that old tv show, The Simpsons, and I can't pick it up. I try again. Its no use. I kick at the thing and flustration, covering it with mud, and then try again. I could do it this time. What the............?
"How come I couldn't do it before?" I say aloud.
"This Oan ring has an impurity to yellow."
I turn around.
"Who said that?"
"Your Oan ring."
I stare at the ring. What in the world? The ring can talk???
"How can you talk?"
"Each Oan ring has the normal abilities but each Oan ring has a specific weakness and a specific strength. Your weakness is yellow."
"What is my strength?"
"You can speak to your ring."
"Are you trying to say, there are more GLs?"
"Yes."
"Well, why don't you tell me how many?"
"Said question was not asked."
"A wise guy, huh?"
"This Oan ring is not a human, and is only wise in artificial intelligence, purely informativ---."
"Okay, okay. How many are there?"
"How many of what?"
"GREEN LANTERNS!"
"There are four other Green Lanterns besides you at this time."
"Could you take me to one?"
"At this time?"
"I guess."
All of a sudden, I begin to fly at an unbelievable speed.
"Is it necessary to travel at this speed?"
"If you would like to get there soon."
Before I know it, we are reaching a seemingly uninhabited planet.
"Where are we, ring?"
"We are about to enter into the atmosphere of.........Oa."

I lay on the ground, knocked out for about 6 minutes. My mind is awake and aware but my body is unable to even open my eyes. Aside from the regular one, an extra voice in my head starts to talk in a odd language.
"Argh, why....why can't I move?"
"Your body is in a current state of shock, the affects of the Power Ring of Oa with your Sama heritage has caused some conflict."
"Wha! Who said that?"
"I am the Spirit of the Ring, once the shock wears off our minds will become one in the same. The Green Lantern Corps have fallen, a select number of rings were created as a final effort to help the universe against the evil forces that lurk. You...We must travel to Planet Oa."
"Wait, I am not sure I can do this"
"The decision is no longeryour choice, Suiji. You must do it for it is your destiny."
"But..."
I suddenly awaken from my "nap", my head pounding and my body feels like it just hit an Asteroid. My mind however feels different but not in a bad way. I stand up and look down at my body....what the? My clothes have changed into a Green Lantern outfit. Then what the ring said must be true. "I don't have any time to tryout my new powers, I know enough about how the ring works.....just not sure how to fly..!" Suddenly I float off the ground into the air, my ring points up ino the sky and then shoots me up.
Space embraces me as I fly at great speed to where the ring is taking me. I have not been in space since I came to earth over 80 years ago. The blackness would scare many but not me, I love it. My head starts to hurt alittle as I pass by a red planet, most likely Mars. Then all of my previous thoughts disappear...The Ring and My Mind are the same...

BOOM!
I'm thrown clear from the catchers only to find myself heading into a wall of flames. Suddenly, the ring glows brightly, shielding me from the heat and propellng me away from the fire. I land on the ground and tumble until I'm facin' the disaster site. I can see nothin' but fire.
Landebar and his catchers! The people who live in that building! They'll be burned to a crisp, I realize.
As my mind racees, strugglin' for a decision, my robo-eyes start workin' as if of their own volition. I suddenly realize I can see much better than ever before when using my x-ray power. I see the catchers sprawled in a circle of flames and scattered around are the residents of the building. The ring seems to tug at my finger, tellin' me to do something.
I narrow my eyes. "A'ight, ring, let's see what you can do."
I push with my mind and I see a barrier of green crash into the wall of fire. The flames sail harmlessly into empty air, held up by my power. The barrier absorbs Landebark, his goons, and the civillians and I pull back. As the barrier, pushing the people towards me, returns, the fire roars back as if mad that its prey has escaped.
All those I rescued are unconscious. I watch the fire burn at the building and see that it can still spread. I feel the tug again and it directs me toward the ground. Focusing, I see below the pavement and can see the runnin' waters of an underground river.
"Talk about luck," I say as I am right at the edge of the fire. I fire my ring and it drills into the ground, spewin' rock and granite everywhere. Then, I hit paydirt, or rather paywater, as a geyser of water rises and puts down the flames.
I continue to drill, making more geysers. They surround the fire, cutting its life short. Pretty soon all there is is smoke and mist. I breathe a sigh of relief and lower my below eye level. Starin' down at my ring, I say, "Why do I think sellin' you would be a bad idea?"
The tug again. It pulls toward the sky. "What?" I ask. "You can fly too?"
I hear the whine of sirens. A disaster squad is headin' my way. And I don't wanna answer any questions. "Sure, why not? Let's fly." I jump into the air and I feel the ring lift me higher than I've ever been. I'm soarin' above the rooftops and I'm lovin' every minute of this.
I laugh. "I could get used to this!" Spying down, magnifying with my eyes a bit, I see a street vendor asleep at his cart. In fact, it's the same street vendor I stole the loaf of bread from. No sense leaving things undone, I think. I aim with my ring and send a kind of rope to grab another piece of bread. It rises into the air and into my hand.
"Sweet!" I take a huge bite and sigh in pleasure. It does taste better after such an effort.
It is time, I heard.
"Wha?--Hey!" The pull is much stronger now and it changes the direction of my flight. I'm goin' straight up, into the atmosphere. "What is this? This wasn't part of the deal! I DIDN'T EVEN SIGN ANYTHIN'"
The ring protects me as I blow past the ozone layer at an incredibly speed. I find myself in space, blastin' by planets and stars and nebulas and all that stuff I'd only seen on a vid-screen.
"Whoa...." I snap out of my amazement. "Hey! At least have the decency of telling me where we're going!"
A word is tossed into my mind, but I can't quite grasp it. "Lana? Skoe? Ayo?"
Oa, the word blares in my mind.
"Alright, you didn't have to scream."
I stay silent the rest of the trip. Hey, it beats starvin' to death.

I can feel power, as if the power of another has been awakened. My ring starts to glow and then a straight beam of light shoots from the ring, pointing at the ship in the distance. I feel a mental tug, as if I should go there.
"No!
I throw my hands up and drop to my knees. I must know! What is this strange power! I have to know! Suddenly, I feel a mental command come into my mind.
Go
What? The citadel. Flight. For a moment I think of flight wishing I had my ship. And then, a green aroura surrounds me and I rise into the air. I think of going forward and then I shoot forward. It's just like flying a ship, only I don't have to press any buttons. In my mind, I increase my speed rapidly shooting forward to where I remember the citadel was.
In short time I arrive over the citadel, I descend to the ground. I race through one the gaping holes back into the center of the room. Something has happened to the skeleton. It's starting to glow green. Then, with a blast of light the bones disintegrate and disappear in a flash of light.
"I will know!"
I think of that green lantern thing, and with a mental command the lantern flies out of the ring.
"Tell me! I have to know! What it this?"
The lantern starts to glow. The hologram of a blue alien comes back out. It starts to talk again. "You are inquisitive Val-Jamar."
It knows my name?"
"Yes indeed. The ring has sent information that has altered the hologram to know your name. I have little time, but the ring is broadcasting information so that this message will be as long as you wish. It is not for me to tell you all that there is to know, there is another for that. The Green Lantern Corps once roamed the galaxy, and today it has been reborn. Five members now exist today. But you must all know the legacy that you have been given. Call them to you. Some are on their way as I speak, but you must call the to you. Call them to you Val-Jamar. It is not my place to tell you anymore."
Call them to me? I raise my ring hand into the air concentrating. I thing, bending all my will into one command. Call them to you. I command my ring to summon all the other rings here. And if they have wielders, they will come also.
"Come! Come! Come! Come to this spot! Answers will be revealed, come to me!

By the time the planet enters my line of vision, I've started getting hungry again. Bread can only satisfy you for so long. I notice that I'm heading right toward the atmosphere and I ask, "Is this it?"
No response, but as I get closer without deviating my course I'm certain that it is. Oa. Whatever that meant.
As I enter the atmosphere. I notice how run-down this planet looks. Deserted and drab. Even Tay 1 looked better than this dump. I begin to feel gypped.
Then my eyes start whirrin' and I zoom in on the horizon, without even realizing it. There, high above the dead wilderness is a giant tower-thing. The Citadel I'm told. Or at least I think I'm told.
I fly straight toward it and as I get closer I notice there is someone already there, waitin'. Before I decide what to make of this, the ring's auto-pilot suddenly stops and I have to consciously keep myself in the air. Since the possibility of a friendly person with food is more invitin' than the haunted trees below, I fly into the citadel.
"Hey, guy! You wouldn't believe what I've just been through. Would you happen to have--" I stop. I focus on one of his fingers which has, of all things, a ring exactly like mine on it. "Whoa, freenin' weird, man," I mutter.
The guy snaps out of the stupor he'd acquired when his eyes fell on me. He starts gushin' out his own story. Now I thought my expereince was weird, but this guy's was positively abnormal. Then he begins to tell me about a hologram of a small blue "entity." That's when I decide that this guy's cracked.
I let him finish his story. Slightly out of breath from his long speech, he asks softly. "So, what do you think? Should we stay and wait?"
I look out the citadel and see the gloomy darkness once again. I really hope it's night time on this planet. I decide to wait and see if it gets any lighter before leavin' this guy to his fantasies. And hey, who knows? It's possible he accidentally sent some kind of beacon to these rings during his psychotic episode and more help would arrive soon.
Because no matter how much I go through, I refuse to believe in little blue guys bestowin' destinies on random people. Some things are just best left unsaid and un-thought-of.

I finally arrival at Oa, I slowly float to the ground of the what used to be a great and beautiful planet. I came here once around 70 years ago during some conflict between Sama and Oa. It is amazing how in such a short time something so pure can be destroied. Any and every alien being this side of the Milky Way knew about what happened to Oa but no one knew what exactly happened.
I start to float across the planet trying to find the one who summoned the rings. I can sense two Rings of Oa in use around my area but can't find out where they are directly. I see a great temple-like statue in the distance, could it be?

I kick at the ground. I go over and stand on a nearby perch, to take in a view of the landscape. In the far distance, I see movement. Two people together, and another out strolling.
"Ring, take me to the two together."
I begin to fly at hyperspeed again, and reach the two within about, oh say, two seconds. Needless to say, they are pretty stunned. Of what I can take in from the first couple of minutes, Val-Jamar's an ok guy, while Zan Velin needs a bit of an attitude adjustment, in my opinion, but hey, I'm just saying.

I shield my eyes and take a closer look, the figure drawing closer. Within minutes he is right over me. The figure is in a costume similar to mine, humanoid in appearance. He looks at me.
He, unlike myself doesn't seem to eager to talk. I rapidly spill my guts, omitting the reason for my shortcut. Somehow I get the feeling that he doesn't believe me. Can't blame. I don't know if I believe myself.
After I end he takes a loot at me, "So, you got anything to munch on?"
Food. All this and he's thinking about food?
"No," I answer him. "I had a full supply of rations in my ship but they were destroyed with the ship.
He seems pretty put out. We stand around, not talking a whole lot. I feel it again. A ring draws near. I feel two rings this time, not too far apart.
As the feeling draws near I look, I see a figure in flight rapidly approaching. He slows upon approach. I feel power from another spot as well. Another wielder approaches.

I've always taken what I need, but it's needless to say that that's not an option at the moment. I've been hearing sparse hoots and whistles of widlife. Something's alive down there. Maybe it's edible.
Jamar calls me over to the window and points at the approaching figure. He's flyin' and glowin' green just like I did when I flew. So the guy did send a distress signal of sorts.
The guy flies in and we're all lookin' at each other bewildered. The newcomer is kind of on the plain side, no special features that I can see, other than the ring and his flashy suit. He doesn't look like he's suffered through hunger or extreme physical pain.
He introduces himself as Rob Christenson. Strange name if I ever heard one. Val-Jamar offers his hand as he gives his name. I keep my arms crossed and respond with a terse. "Velin. Zan Velin." Christenson gives me a strange look.
"I see you've got Green Lantern rings too," he says cautiously. Obviously he's trying to break the ice.
Ain't gonna get buddy-buddy with me, pally.
But part of me wants to ask just what a Green Lantern is. I'd never heard of one but I then decide that I don't want to. I just want some food, some light, and then I'd get out of here. It obviously means something to Jamar who begins to respond. I glance out the window.
"Hey, look," I say.
We see ANOTHER figure speeding toward us. Are there no end to these characters?
The latest addition to the party is named Suji Yamato and it's obvious he's a goody-goody. 'Course I'm not goinna call him that to his face, since he has considerable muscle. He introduces himself with a long and boring speech. Not just a big goody-goody, but a long-winded politician of some sort. Greeeeat.
I count the cracks in the wall as Yamato rambles. He talks about destiny and how excited he is to be a member of the new Green Lantern force and yadah and yadah and yadah. He's only interrupted by Jamar who excitedly supplements his story. I'm startin' to think that all outworlders are crazed out of their gourds.
Suddenly, Christenson mutters something into his ring and pauses. When he comes back to reality, we're all starin' at him as if he had grown another head or somethin'. As well we should At least I had the decency to keep my mouth shut instead of playin' with my ring as if it were my new disembodied friend.
"How'd you do that?" Jamar asks.
Personally, I would have asked why .
Christenson hesitates then begins his own long life story. Or at least it seems like a life story. He grabs my interest for a bit when he mentions that his ring is apparently useless against the color yellow. I keep from snickerin' at first and then I realize I shouldn't have found it funny in the first place. Who's to say my ring doesn't go haywire against bananas either?
It won't, I hear. Or I think I hear, the voice was so soft. Maybe I shouldn't be callin' Christenson and the rest cracked until I make sure I'm not a couple beans short of a can either. Is my ring a disembodied entity, born from the willpower of little blue guys? Is all this malarky true?
"Velin!" Christenson yells.
I look up, startled. I've been lost in my own thoughts. "What?"
"What about your ring? Does it have any weaknesses?"
I glare. "I don't see why I should tell you." Then I swear inwardly. I should've said "no, none at all." But of course that's not true.
"How about you should tell us because you're outnumbered three to one?" Yamato growls.
Jerks.
"Diamonds," I say reluctantly. "I can't do jack against diamonds."
"And does your ring talk to you? Or do you have a bond like Yamato?"
I stay silent and look at my ring finger. It seems to glow slightly and in the back of my mind I hear...I hear...
Nothin'. I don't hear nothin'.
"Well?" Rob inquires.
"No. Neither. It's just a dumb ring that can shoot stuff and fly."
I separate myself from the group and wait in the corner. The rest stand in their own group, awkwardly. Guess I ruined the party. I dont' care anymore. I just want to go home...wherever home is.
And I'm still hungry...

Dude, what is up with this guy. Zan Velin. The bully. The kid in the back of the class throwing spitwads. Please remind me why he was chosen to be one of the Green Lanterns. The Green Lanterns I knew were not like him, that's for sure. This makes absolutely no sense, whatsoever.
I continue to talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the Corps, etc. to the rest of the team, while Zan seperates himself from the group. A rebel. Gah....what a loser. Didn't respect them now, don't respect them then.
He continues to mutter the class, and that's it, I'm done with putting up with this!
"Hey, you have something to share with the class?" I say, mockingly. Hey, I know it was corny.
"What in the galaxy is a class?"
I begin to respond, but my GL ring begins to glow a bit brighter at my thoughts to create something, my response perhaps. Zan gives me a bewildered look and then my eyes go wide and bright green. Next thing I know, I'm in a very dark place. I look around in shock. Then, I begin to move slowly step by step, those same steps echoing in the silence. I see a stool in the distance and a small figure on the stool. No wait, its a man. I get closer than I ever thought I would. This guy looks pretty weak. Looks like he's been in a war. He looks at me. Heh, he remindes me kind of of Yoda except his blue and the whole pointy ears thing. Ah, the irony of this moment.
"The........the end." The man struggles to speak out, every word a labor.
I shake my head.
"What?" I say in disbelief.
"It......it....is over. You....you...must....tell.....them."
Suddenly, I start having these visions. A man attacking a planet. Some other blue guys being destroyed. This one Green Lantern getting destroyed. Wait a minute, is he making a ring? Suddenly, I snap out of it.
The little guy topples over and falls. I rush over and feel for a pulse. Old high school health class comin' in handy.
"Oh man, oh man, oh man. Are you alright?"
My words are no use. He is gone.
Suddenly, I'm zapped back into reality. I hear Val murmur something, asking if I'm ok, perhaps. But its hopeless, I'm out cold. I hear the distant sound of a collapse, and then......black.

What is up with this guy Velin? I mean, I've met Gungarain warlords that were friendlier that him. And I'm not going to try and say that I'm a really great guy, I'm a smuggler I'll admit it. But it's this guy's whole attitude.
"Christenson?"
I look at Yamato who is talking to Rob Christenson. He looks really out of it. He's surrounded but this green aurora thing and looks really, I mean really out of it.
I bend down. "Are you okay man?"
No answer. That's just great. I was kinda wondering what the heck my ring did special. And to tell you the truth, I was hoping that I didn't have a yellow deal. That's just weird. I turn to this Yamato guy.
"So, what exactly is this Green Lantern Corp?"
"You don't know?"
I sense a feeling of indignation, almost irritation.
"Well slaves on Duldar don't get all the latest news."
He ignores the comment and clues me in.
"For centuries the Green Lantern Corp patrolled the galaxy. Each wielder had a small ring that responded to his mental commands. Until they were destroyed by one of their own. A man named Hal Jordan destroyed them all. The last ring was given to one named Kyle Rayner. But about ten years ago he disappeared and all trace of the once great Oa vanished."
"What happened?"
"No one knows."
This is real great. I just wish that Zan Velin would get off his-
"I believe that Christenson is coming around."
It looks like he is. At that moment a thought nags at me. I saw FOUR rings sent out. There are only three other wielders here. And I felt such power so close. I wonder if there is another?

"Hey, Christenson, are you alright?"
Finally, a sentence coming in. From Sujii, or whatever his name is.
"Yeah, I....I guess."
"What happened?" Val asked.
I rub my hand against my forehead and prop myself up against the building for a back rest.
"I saw......saw some blue guy. He told me to tell someone, I'm guessing you guys, about......about...something. He....didn't say."
I shake my head, dumbfounded.
"What do we do now?" Suiji asks again.
Val thinks a second.
"You said there were five Lanterns right?"
"............Yeah."
"Then, let's find the last Lantern. Then, decide."
Zan Velin finally breaks out of his long silence.
"Are you kiddin' me? Why in the galaxy would I want to on some wild goose chase to get another green trooper?"
"Well....I just thought that....if we were to work as a group...." Val begins.
"Yeah, well, you thought. Maybe, I dun wanna be in this group of yours."
"Dude, lay off." I step in.

I heat up. I've had it with these starry-eyed goodnicks and I'm tired of waiting for somethin' to get me off this rock. I clench my fist, ready to deck this guy...
Christenson suddenly turns his head to the window. "Someone's coming."
We all look outside. A shadowy figure does seem to be approaching. Yamato leans out and furrows his eyebrows. "Not someone....something...."
I blink and, without thinkin', use my eyes to zoom in on the figure. It comes into focus as a winged, reptillian creature with a razor-sharp beak. "Oh, freen!"
"What?" Val-Jamar inquires, alarmed.
"Get your ring ready. That thing ain't pretty." I raise my own device and aim at the animal. I fire and hit it right in the chest. It lets out an ear-piercin' screech. It hovers, shocked, for a while, then starts advancin'...faster.
"What'd you do that for?" Rob screams.
"Listen, it's not like I made him any less cuddly," I say. "You try to do better!"
Christenson's eyes narrow and he aims at the creature. I expect a green blast to come out, but instead I see a green, glowin' net fly out and trap the creature in mid-air. It screeches again and begins to fall. It screeches all the way down, until it hits the ground with a thud.
Rob smirks.
I scowl. "Okay, so what do you want? A birdcatcher medal?"
Before he can retaliate, we hear the defeaning sound of many screeches idenitcal to the one of the dead creature. My jaw drops as I watch these ugly birds arise from the otherwise still foilage and advance on us, hungrily.
"Well, look on the bright side" Yamato says. "Maybe they're edible."

Ok, I'm not any tree hugger and I'm sure no environmentalist or whatever, but good lord, where do these people get off? I mean, they are defenseless birds, or um...whatever they are.
I switch back to using nets again to catch the birds. The swarm is finally ceasing. I look over and Yamato is cracking their blasted skulls. Woah, he freaks me out. He sorta looks like Yoda except younger, even though he's supposed to be like a billion or something.
Val and Zan are starting to go at it now. I have to admit that I'm on Val's side here. Zan is just a jerk.
The swarm dies down and we decide to go back to the building, and have a little chit chat. I think it over, and decide to tell them about myself a little more in-depthly, lack of parents moreof. Yamato and Zan are coinciding with their supportive comments and logic. Yamato says that most people don't have living parents at his home planet. Still trying to figure that out.
But then, Zan says something....something I wouldn't mutter in front of my grandmother of all people.
I just sit there, dazed at this little curse of his. Bringing back all the childhood memories of teases, all the pain of losing them, everything. This might not be very heroic, but I entertain the thought.
I just simply focus my ring at Zan, and instantly a diamond cage appears around him.

"Listen, this is enough. We were chosen to be protectors, we cannot protect anything if we fight against each other like this. I am warning you Zelin, you are this close to the point where I won't be able to control my actions."

I sit in a throne listening to a nerdy looking being as he goes on announcing tax rate increases and other boring nonsense. Every minute he talks just makes me angrier and angrier. I raise my fist and pointed a black ring at him where a black ray pours forth surrounding the being. The beam raises the nerdy being in the air, instilling fright and helplessness as he waves his legs in the air as if trying to find ground to stand on.
“Enough! I don’t care about your taxes and collections.” I said and drop him from 10 feet off the ground.
“I just heard of a resistance in the planet Gera. What have you done about this?”
The nerdy being kneels before the throne before he speaks, “I have already sent Capt. Kali and his men to it, master."
“Capt. Kali come forward.” I order.
An impressive uniformed man comes forth and kneels before the throne.
“Master, the resistance have the people of Gera helping them and they have dug underground mazes where they wait to ambush us. We just need more time and more men and we will stop them.” He pleads.
“Do you guarantee me that you won’t fail again?” I inquire.
“Yes master, I won’t fail again.” He just manags to say as I again point my ring to him.
His body disintegrates as he screams from the pain. The others look in surprise as one of them disappears forever.
“I guess he will not fail me again. Lt. Argo, I promote you to Capt. and I want you to eliminate the resistance at planet Gera. I hope you won’t fail me.”
Another man comes forth and kneels saying, “I won’t fail you master.”
I rise from my throne and left by an automatic door in my left. I enter my chambers and sit in front of a computer station there. I bring up a stellar map as I check calculations after calculations. This is too important to give to others.
Time goes by as I check each calculation. Suddenly a swirling vortex appears besides me. I’m not surprised because I’ve seen it before. A face appears in it and begins to talk.
“We have sensed the power of a Green Lantern.” He says.
“That’s impossible they are all dead including the guardians and all the rings are destroyed.”
“We are never wrong. There must be a ring that survived. Go, find the wielder and destroy him and the ring. The Green Lanterns are dead and will stay dead.”
The vortex disappears to nothingness leaving me alone. So the Green Lanterns live. When will they learn they can’t win against the DARK LANTERN?

"We are the Fraeka galaxy peacekeeping unit. You have been sited on unchartered planet, Oa. Leave the planet immediately."
We all look at each other; I smile. Then, we begin to attack, ripping through their shields....trying hard not to.....kill them?
I see advanced circurity and wiring inside their bodies, as I rip one apart.
"They are........robots?" I say.
"Apparently they are," Yamato retorts, "Show no mercy."
We take it to another level, and tired and exhaused, they are finally wiped out. The ground became filled with giant, metallic bodies.
As we all stop to catch our breath, I see something in the distance. At first, I think its more peacekeeping units, but as they come into focus, I see them. They are in an all green uniform with a shield, and a black GL emblem on their right shoulders. They approach us.
"We have come in the name of the lord and master. He has decreed that you must be destroyed. Do not struggle."
"C'mon, *breaths*, guys. We can do...." I say panting.
But it is too late, they zap me with a beam that has to be seaming with electricity. After a few convulsions, I drop like a fly to the ground. In a slight glimspe, I see that Yamato, Jamar, and Velin have done also. Then, everything goes black.

Where do these guys come off trying to say they're a "peace keeping" unit. They're probaly a smugglers army built to get rid of guys like us. Oh well so what if they is thirty of them, we should be able to take them. We charge through the middle of them ripping their shields apart. As Christenson rips through one circuitry and wiring falls out.
"They're.......robots?" He mutters.
"Apperently so,"Yamato reports, "Show no mercy."
Just what I've been waiting for. I create a chain scythe and rip through the middle of them sending robot parts everywhere. I look over at Velin who's firing laser blasts all over the place.
"I think that is the last of them." Yamato reports.
"Oh gret more bozos coming."
We all look at who Velin is pointing at. Green Uniforms with a shield, and a black...lantern symbol on their shoulder?
"We have come in the name of the lord and master. He has decreed that you must be destroyed. Do not struggle."
Panting Christenson mutters something. At the same time they fire a black beam seething with electricitry at him. He shakes with convulsions for a second before dropping to the ground.
Velin and Yamato soar into the air and start firing blasts. As he rises upwards Yamato turns to me. "Wathc Christenson. We'll take care of these guys."
Whatever he says. I create lean down beside Christenson and create a force bubble. I look at these Black Lantern guys. One of them is holding some kind of sensor towards Velin.
"Weakness identified." A few seconds later one of them points a black ring at Velin and a diamond cage shoots at him. He drops to the ground screaming. Yamato gets the same treatment and in a few seconds wood spears at shooting all over the place at him.
I hold my ring to my forehead. I concetrate for a moment, sending a using the ring to send a telephathic message.
Yamato?
You're a telepath?
No, I'm using the ring. With your mental bond with the ring can your control it even at great distances?
Yes.
Send your ring as far as you can. I'll create a dummy one to fit over you finger. They won't know the difference.
This better work.
A great way to end things. I leave a force bubble around Rob and fly off. Out of the corner of my eye I see Yamato ascend to the ground. I create a dummy ring around his finger. To distract these guys while he sends the ring away I dive right at them. In a few seconds a beam like the one that hit Rob envelops me. As I drop to the ground I see the same happen to Yamato. Now all I can hope is that he can regain consciousness later and control his ring.

“Yes master”
The assistant made a quick bow and exited the room quickly. I will destroy all the legacy of the guardians and I will rule.
“Is the pulsar on schedule?” I ask him
It takes a few seconds for the assistant to rummage through the bunch of papers in his hands to look for the data he needed, “Yes master. We predicted the event to occur in one weeks time.”
“Have you found a way to collapse a star turning it to a black hole?”
“Yes master, we have developed a type of bomb that we could put in the center of a star that will generate a massive gravitational field that can collapse the star on itself. We call it the imploder.”
“How much time do you need to make such device?”
“We would need five days to make a prototype for testing master.”
“You have three days to make the prototype and ready for testing.”
“But master,”
I rise from my throne and point the ring to the pitiful creature. A black ray comes forth from the ring and forms a claw that grips the assistant’s neck.
“I said three days.” And I lift him from the ground by his neck.

Slowly I pry my eye lids open, disconnected images appearing before me. I shake my head trying to make sense of where I am. Agonizing slow my vision returns and I regain me senses. But one question instantly comes to mind. Where am I?
"Jamar? You awake?"
I turn my head towards the voice. At last I figure out that I'm in a space craft of some kind. Me and the rest of the Green Lanterns are chained to the wall. I turn to the one who posed me the question, Yamato.
"I've felt worse. Course I been better too."
Rob, seeing that we're all awake tales his turn at a question. "Does anyone know where we are?"
Velin of course gives a polite reply. "Don't look at me you guys are supposed to know it all."
"Shut up Velin." I had to say that. Yamato gives me one of those "now isn't the time" looks. I lean over a bit to whispering Yamato's ear. "Do you still have you ring?"
"Of course. I have it following this vessel at about four hundred meters."
"Have it send an image of this ship to my mind. I should be able to recognize it and tell where we are going."
"If you say so. Close your eyes."
I obey and close my eyes. Within seconds an image of the exterior of the vessel appears in my mind. It's black. We're moving through space rapidly. We've obviously left Oa far behind. The engines are incredible. I don't think I've ever seen anything like them. And the weapon turrets would make a Fleet Cruiser jealous. I've seen enough. I break off the image.
Opening my eyes I come back to the dirty world of the prison hold we're in. I shake my head trying to focus my thoughts. I'm still rather light headed from the shock blast they hit me with.
"Well?"
I look at the three faces looking at me. Well, I have to tell them something. "I've never seen anything like it. The engines are more powerful than anything I've ever seen. It has a hyper drive engine like I nothing imaginable. It is painted black with a strange symbol I'm not sure how to describe it looked like, a black lantern like the ones the guards that captured us had."
Rob looks thoughtful. After a moment or two he speaks. "Well guys I don't now anything for sure but…"
At that moment the ship abruptly lurks back sending us all flat against that walls. Velin of course has a remark all ready to go.
"Well Jamar you're the expert space pilot what was that."
I feel like saying something not so nice but Yamato is giving me that look again. "I think we're going to hyper drive. Which isn't good."
"And why not?" Velin mocks.
Ignoring him I turn back to Yamato. "When we go to hyper drive the sudden jump forward will be so abrupt and fast your mind won't be able to keep the ring following."
"Is there any way to keep it following? Without that ring.."
"There is one way. When we jump to hyper drive the engines will create a small vacuum that will suck in all the small space debris and other small items within a few feet. The vacuum will remain until the hyper drive is cut off."
"So you're saying that if I draw the ring in close enough it will be caught in the vacuum?"
Before I can reply the ship lurches forward then I can feel a familiar vibration. "Hurry, we're about to kick over."
He nods and closes his eyes. Within a few seconds there's a sudden lurch and the ship flies forward. We all feel a sudden sensation of movement then none at all as the ship successfully settles in to hyper drive. I give Yamato a questioning look. He merely nods. Might as well settle in we could be in for a long journey. I wonder where we're going?

After quite a while in the spaceship, everyone becomes anxious. After awhile a brief escape plan is comprised by Jamar and Yamato. Zelin chimes in every once in a while, while I just sit in space. The plan. I must put it into action sooner than I expected.
After a brief wait, in which a guard came to check on us, we overheard that our sector would have to be less guarded due to shortages in personnel and there was apparently some sort of disturbance on the other side of the wing we were in.
Yamato and Jamar get up and Zelin takes his place. They had all explained my position in their tactic to escape, but I wasn't really paying much attention to it. After all, in the end, it would all be for naught.
Yamato commands his ring from who knows where to break these chains and we are all free. Then the three jump over the railing and begin to attack the guards. Jamar creates some sort of nerve gas. Shoot, they seem to be overtaking them. I thought that perhaps I wouldn't have to do this.
The last guard is sedated and Yamato begins to work on the ship's coordinates. Jamar comes over to me.
"GREAT! We did it! Hey, maybe this Corps thing will work out after all, huh?" Jamar exclaims. I only nod.
Yamato grins and turns to me, "Well, where to? Where are we going first?"
"We aren't going anywhere, friend."
After that statement, I blast Yamato, knocking the old agile man down. Jamar doesn't even know what to think. I sadly whip the smile off his face with a crushing blow. Zelin charges at me and I battle with Zelin for a bit. I command my ring to fire diamonds. The green diamonds take effect and Zelin is thriving on the floor screaming now.
The operative is done.

I awaken from my unnatural slumber. Slowly my eyes open to the screams of the remaining diamonds formed by Christenson to take hold of Velin. Jamar is simply out. Christenson no where in sight. My ring's power is very low. I use whatever is left of my energy to fire a small box to cover the diamonds blocking them from Velin. I move the box several meters away so that it won't affect him.
I watch as Velin breathes deeply and sweats like a Juknox in Cantoiin. I slowly bring myself up to me hands and knees
"Ja...Jamar, wake up."
I crawl over to Jamar and start to shake him. I slap him to try and wake him up but it has no affect. Christenson did a number on him. I turn my attention to a now alert and very angry Velin. A green arua glows around his body as he brings himself to his feet.
"Wh...ere did he..it go."
"Calm down, Velin."
"What are you talking about?! The man just tried to kill us, Yamato. He turned on us!"
"Something is wrong here, very wrong. He isn't an evil man, Velin. If he were, the ring would never have chosen him to wield it's power in the first place. Remember that, the ring chooses who is it's wielder."
"So what are you saying, what he did was right?"
"....I don't know yet, but I am sure as hell gonna find out."

Well, thank God, its done.
"Ring, render me invisible to the others." I say.
"Your request is done." The ring squawks back.
I walk over to the main controls and navigate the ship back towards Earth. I look out of the navigation, and stare off into the atmosphere. Time and space stretches out and front of me.
I hear some muttering after awhile, but I dismiss it. My mistake. After awhile, Velin stands up and begins to recklessly kick things out of anger. Yamato tries to calm him down, while Jamar is STILL out. I smile at the job I did on him.
Yamato starts going on and on about something being strange. He eyes the place for awhile and then drills me with a blast from his power ring. While it knocked me off my feet, one thing was evident: these people didn't have power.
I take my leave from the meaningless charade of the invisibility, and begin to tap into my power. I block shots from Velin and Yamato, and put my hands at the bottom of the floor and gradually move up, creating a seemingly unendless wave of green heat. I then push out, knocking Yamato, Velin, and even the unconsious Jamar off their feet and to the very back of the ship corridor. Even I am amazed!
"You fools! The rings always come down to will, and your collective wills are nowhere equal to mine."
I send wave after wave of this green heat energy at them, burning them. Reveling in my power!
"You see, I have tapped into the true power of the ring. The true central battery. My body is merely a conduit of this energy now."
I walk towards them.
"My father wanted to be somebody. He wanted to change things. Due to human error, injustice, and pure incompetance, he did not succeed. But where he failed, I will reach TRIUMPH."
I place a bomb on the control system. Setting the clock at one minute until D time to be sporting.
"You all have one minute. This device is inside the system's control system itself. Simply destroying the device isn't going to cut it. Good luck. As for me, its about time I started on my true master plan. Pleasant seeing you all. When you see me again, you'll have all felt the impact."
And with that I take flight and leave them to their impending doom.
Life is good.

Slowly sight returns to my eyes as they crack open. But sight does not bring comfort. The feeling of being awake only brings the sensation of heat and pain. I force my eyes open but the burning instantly forces me to close them. I create a pair of goggles and force my eyes open again. Almost as soon as I do so I see Christenson flying off. The heatwaves abate as he does so.
"So, Yamato," Velin spits out sarcasticly. "What were you saying about Christenson not being an evil man?"
Sternly Velin looks at both of us. "We have one minute. I suggest we do not waste it bickering."
Finally I see the bomb. A BOMB?! What the hell is everyone standing around fore? I create a chain scythe and start to bring it down on the bomb but a shield stops me. I look up at Yamato, the creator of the shield.
"You were out when he set it. Destroying the bomb won't help. It's in the system itself."
"So why don't we get the hell out of here?"
Now it's my turn to speak. "I don't know if there's time Velin. We don't have much of it. If it's in the system itself then crashing the ships computers or shutting the whole system down might stop it."
At least I hope.

"Listen, unless one of you is an expert computer hacker and hasn't let on, TOUCHIN' that system could blow us all to pieces seconds before it's supposed to!" I say.
"Well what do you propose then?" asks Jamar, annoyed.
"RUN!" I bolt through the door. "Follow me if you're smart enough!"
As I sprint, I whisper into the ring I recently acquired. "Guide me to an escape shuttle if you're so powerful."
It glows and I feel myself pulled through the maze of corridors. I can practically HEAR the ticking of the bomb in my mind. I can also hear Jamar and Yamato following.
Suddenly, I screech to a stop. I'm in front of a door which has strange writing that I hope means "escape shuttle." I blast it, it opens, and I call back, "Here! LET'S GO!"
I jump in and sit down, staring at the controls. "Gah, how do you make this thing go!?!"
Jamar and Yamato sit in the remaining chairs. The former glances at the control panel and presses a button.
"You fool!" I scream. "You don't know what that does!"
The door behind us slams shut and we're suddenly thrown backward as the shuttle blasts away at an amazing speed. We manage to see the ship collapse upon itself but soon we are too far away to see the debris.
I gasp for breath and look at Val. "How'd you guess?"
Jamar shrugs. "Standard controls. I'm a pilot, as you've pointed out."
I look at the controls. "Okay, pilot, how about makin' sense of what this computer says?"
Val can't figure out, but Yamato glances at it and says, "We're heading toward a practically lifeless system. There's only one inhabited planet in it."
"What do they call it?" Jamar asks.
"Simply...Earth."

Rain.
Regardless of human actions or interference, rain is a constant. Something that you can always count on in a very independant world. Some take refuge from it. Afraid that it might ruin their plans or their possessions. Others, revel in it, just another outlet of their partying. But everyone needs it. And it never lets you down.
I was always an angry kid. So full or rage. So full of hate. If it was ever truly channeled that rage well, it could produce something GOOD. But in the mist of the emotion that goes with the hate, the mind can never really conceive that emotion. The true emotions that it takes to hate someone with all your fiber and all your being, why the feeling is so strong that a person can not randomly conceive it. It must be FORCED upon them.
I truly hate the fiber of being a Green Lantern. I despise that I ever used their base Oan rings to create my true order. I was merely a pawn of the Guardians, as were all Green Lanterns. A pawn in their corrupt little game of ordering the universe.
The Guardians may be dead, but I will at last get my final revenge on the last Oan pawns in existance, finally wiping them out. FINALLY ending this long drug out charade. This constant war has reached past its final act. Its final battle. This should have been done long ago.
Luckily, these Green Lanterns not only exude incompetance, but the one, Velin, is controlled with his anger. So alike him and me. Unfortunately, he will never realize that. Yamato is wise in his ways and his years, but I can feel his energies. I can read his thoughts. His faith in others will truly be his downfall. Jamar is the innocent one. Innocents have to fall in every military strategy possible to concieve, there is no way around it. All three of them symbolize my hatred.
This final battle will regretably be....too easy. Thank the heavens that my weak life essence was still trapped on that barren planet of Oa, or I might not have been able to control his body. Now, I feel my control of him is slipping, I must take action. I must find a fitting plain for our true armaggedon.
To Earth.

I stare at this sea green jewel floating through space. Wierd, I've never seen a solar system before with only one inhabited planet. I look back at the controls and slow down our descent. If we hit the atmosphere to hard we'll bounce off like a sling shot.
I think Velin is a little irrated that I've taken the controls but I'm the only one that knows anything about flying a space craft. Though I've never seen anything like this. She handles well though, I might start to like her if I had a little time with her.
"So," Velin drawls, "does anyone have any idea just WHAT THE HELL CHRISTENSON IS UP TOO?"
I look up from the controls for a minute. "Beats me. Hey, can these things read minds?"
Yamato is staring though the window at the planet we approach. Without looking at us he replies. "Only great experience and a strong will can accomplish such a feat."
Wait a minute, I remember once on Corelis 4 we had to disable some tracking becons, I wonder..."
"Ring, track the loaction of Rob Christenson and take us there."
Slowly at first, then rapidly a green force bubble surrounds the ship and we begin to move rapidly through the atmosphere. Where I have no idea. While we are moving I take the time to look throug the weapons armory, Appears fairly basic, Servo Kenetic lasers, Disperser cannons, etc. Oh well, all we really need are the rings. "We're about to land," calls Yamato. "Strap in!"
But I've seen somethin' in the locker that held the weapons. My eyes widen. "FOOD!" I leap onto the provisions like the hungry animal I am and begin stuffing my mouth. The stuff tastes like creature feed, but I'm grateful that it's edible.
Jamar scowls. "Don't gobble it all, glutton. We don't know if the food on this planet is edible. Those provisions are for all of us."
I manage a muffled "screw you" through a mouthful of provisions and continue feeding.
Suddenly, I feel a jolt and I'm thrown backwards. Out of surprise, I drop the bag right before I hit my head on the hatch. I swear loudly as the other two chuckle.
"I told you to strap in," said Yamato.
"Laugh it up, remember I still got this...thing-amabob." I raise the weapon half-heartedly.
They laugh harder and wave their own smugly. "Anyway, we're here," says Jamar. "Let's go find Christenson." He looks at his ring and I see anger flash in his eyes.
"Wait," says Suiji. "It's not a good idea to scare the natives with our...machinery." He places his ring to his blaster-thing and it disappears, as if sucked into it.
Val Jamar grins. "Good idea," he says and does the same. I follow, reluctantly. I know I'd feel more secure if I had something by my side that made it clear that messing with me would be a bad idea.
We walk out and look around. Everywhere I see there's trash and broken junk. This planet looks as filthy as Tay 1. But at least the sky is brighter and less of a...ugly, yellowish tint. That doesn't stop me from commenting, "What a dump."
"Actually," says Yamato. "That's probably exactly what it is. We've landed in some sort of waste disposal facility."
"Lucky us," I growl. "That's a fine indicator of what's to come."
"It is pretty lucky, come to think," says Val. "No witnesses. Let's just hope no one notices the big shuttle." His ring glows. "This way, follow me."
After a few minutes of walking, I see signs of life. Lots of 'em. Hundreds of people walking through the city, intent on whatever their business is. Not one of them dresses alike. Some look so strange that I wonder if they are of the same species. No wonder we're not attracting too much attention. As I look at the buildings, I see symbols that I don't recognize.
"Hey, old man," I whisper at Yamato. "Do these people speak common?"
Yamato, apparently unphased at being called "old man" responds, "No, apparently not. Hey, Jamar, do you think the rings can translate for us?"
Val pauses. "Worth a shot," he says. And he whispers something to his ring. Yamato concentrates.
I look down on my own ring. "Dictionary, too, huh?"
When I look up, I can read everything. Some words are still foreign, but at least I get the general gist of things. Suddenly, I catch a whiff of something in the air. I look in the direction of the smell and see a small stand with a fat man giving some type of meat to a customer. The sign above him reads "Hot Dogs."
I grin. The dog is an excellent delicacy on Tay 1. "Hey," I tell the others. "Hold on, I'm gonna get us some grub!"
I walk up to the stand. "Give me three dogs," I order.
The fat man looks at me, as if he were better than me. I notice his moustache is dirty. "Seven-fifty, Mr. Tights," he finally says.
Of course. Everyone wants money. But I didn't survive on Tay 1 by paying for food.
I smirk and point my ring below the stand. Without breaking eye contact I shoot a beam and set the bottom of it on fire.
"Hey, pally, I think your dogs are burnin'," I say.
The man looks down and screams. He screams obscenities that even my ring can't translate. While he's occupied, I swipe the hot dogs on the counter and run back to the other Lanterns.
"One for each," I say produly, and hand them the dogs in buns.
Yamato shakes his head. Jamar tries to hide a grin by stuffing the food into his mouth. "Come on, Christenson's this way..."
The sky has suddenly become darker. I look up, alarmed. "What happened? Has Rob found us?"
"Nah," says Yamato. "Looks like rain."
I raise my eyebrow. "What the hell is rain?"

Yellow whitish streaks of light flash across the sky accompanied by loud booms. If I knew any better I'd swear there was a battle going on somewhere. On Duldar, V-1 plasma bombs produce similiar light streaks only blue and green. And the boomig sounds, well that could be about any kind of bomb, weapon, or something else exploding.
Velin interupts my thoughts. "Hey I don't want my dog getting all wet lets find some shelter."
"Good idea" Yamato muses. "Follow me."
I don't see a problem with that considering he's the only one that knows anything about this planet. Strange clothes he's wearing now, though it is similiar to what everyone else is wearing.
Finally Yamato brings us into an all and down some stairs into an old abondoned building. Inside we huddle up in a corner and quietly start to eat. I've never seen food like this before, but it's pretty good.
"Hey who are you?"
I look up to the source of the voice. A humanoid figure is standing there but he's obviously not human. All human's that I've seen just have on color of hair but this person has blue, pink, purple, white, and black streaks of hair. He also has tons of round metal rings adoring his face.
"What planet are you from?" I ask simply.
"Duh."
He says.
"Duh? I don't think I'm familiar with that planet. Is it far from here?"
"What kind of wierdo are you?"
I'm starting to get a little confused.
"He's a teenager" Yamato whispers in my ear.
"Are they from the planet Duh?"
Yamato obviously sighs and rolls his eys. "No, they are from this planet. They are young humans between the ages of 13 and 19. They do wierd things to their body like pierce it and dye their hair to be...different."
"Oh...." I say simply. This planet is really confusing but I guess Duldar wouldn't make much sense to outsiders.
After staring at us for a few minutes the "teenager" walks off. Finally I ask something.
"Yamato, wasn't Christenson's weakness yellow?"
"Yes as a matter of fact it was. You might have something there."
"Yeah," Velin mutters, "we can go get some bannanas and beat him with em'."
"I was thinking along different lines....."
I suck my rifle out of my ring and turn it over to inspect the servo power generator. I create a pry wrench to pry off the outer casing.
"You know," I say thinking out loud, "I might be able to adjust the servo frequency and power level so it fires in yellow bursts instead of red.

By the ever growing crowds and noises, I know that they must be near. I simply hover over the unsuspecting city of New York City. Disguises are useless for this battle. I believe that the trio has no idea what I'm doing. They think this is for something futile like world domination. This is for something so much more important. Revenge. Pure revenge. Over my vast number of years, even I would know that attempts at goals are vague and inconsistent. It is as black and white as the day and night. You either fail or you succeed. In this instance, even the smallest amount of revenge can be considered a victory.
They begin to appear as slow specks in the crowd. Nothing more. Nothing less. They walk out of unison, not disciplined as a cohesive unit. I can see it before I even see their eyes that they do not act that way either.
Slower and slower is their walk. My mind begins to wander as to what they are doing. The time for waiting is over. We must begin now.
As I fly towards the three, their heads turn upwards as does hundreds gathered below. I begin to hear the shrieks and screams of the misinformed, the disillusioned, and the ignorant. You'd think that after only 10 Earth years of a Green Lantern being absent on their planet, they'd remember. Just like Earthlings. Undisciplined. Their minds are so erratic, that can't remember what food that they intook that dawn. Their lives lack order. They would never understand that on my perfect orderly planet of Korugar.
My memories of my untimely banishment from that pathetic Corps by the inname Guardians brings up new fire in my eyes as I get closer. I am ready.

6:06pm
“How do I get myself into these situations?” I think to myself as I face off against three heavily armed men, my ring low on power.
It all started when I was asleep in my bed back on earth, when the Guardians contacted me. “Green Lantern of Sector 2847, you are needed on Oa immediately,” said the floating image of one of the Guardians. I sleepily nodded my head and got out of bed. After freshing up and getting dressed, I picked up my battery to recharge my ring. “In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape My Sight, Let Those Who Worship Evil’s Might, Beware My Power……..Green Lantern’s Light!” My costume appeared on me (the non-standard one of my own design), and with that, I was ready for whatever came at me.
When I got to Oa, I walked into the Great Hall and the Guardians were waiting for me. “I’m here, what’s the emergency?” I asked, still a little sleepy.
The eldest, Galidus, stepped forward. “We called you here because of a great disaster that may come if you don’t hurry.” He went on to tell me that a small band of terrorists were planning on destroying the universe. The Guardians didn’t tell me how they were gonna do it just that I had to hurry.
So I quickly took off and headed towards my destination: Crichton. No sooner had I arrived in orbit, I was under attack by orbital platforms. “The Guardians didn’t say anything bout this much artillery,” I thought, as I dodged blast after blast. By creating a giant rocket launcher, I took out the platforms and made my way to the surface. I was told that it was a small group with big ambitions, but what I found was not small. I counted at least 40 men before I was struck down by an energy blast. Thankfully, I had my shield up but it still hurt like hell! I hit the ground hard but quickly got back to my feet and was greeted by 10 heavily armed men, armed with various weapons of varying intensity. They fired at me in unison, as if they knew what the others were gonna do. I created a shield and deflected their blasts, returning fire with my own weapon. They weren’t expecting me to be able to keep my own. After I took out the first wave of fighters, more came and took their place. After 2 straight hours of this, I was beginning to run low on power.
“Give up, Lantern. You’re out numbered,” one of the men says, his gun aimed at my head.
“Like hell!” I say as I use everything I have to ram them at full speed. After I knock them down and get my bearings, I find their base. I have to find the weapon, I think to myself as I make my way inside their makeshift base. Inside, it is so dark I have to use what power I have left to aid me in my search. Creating a flashlight, I walk down a flight of stairs until I reach the bottom. What I see was nothing but shocking. In the center of the room, is a giant Temporal Device! They were gonna use it to do something big. I know I have to destroy it, and fast. I am just about to blast it with a ring created blaster when I am shot from behind. I look at where I am shot. Thankfully I have my shield up and no real damage was done, unfortunately the shot itself quickly causes me to collapse.
When I awake after what seems like forever, I find myself surrounded. As I sit up, I take a quick look around and I see who shot me. It was Krexler, a smuggler and small time crook. The profile on this guy says that he was an ex Thanagarian police officer, who decided to use his power to make some quick cash. My predecessor, Galen Thal, was the man responsible for arresting him. Of course, Krexler had friends and was quickly released. The Corps has been after him for years. He walks over to me and places his hand below my chin, lifting up my head so I can see him better.
“So…you’re the one the Corps decided to send after me,” he says, smirking and reeking of Algredian ale.
“What do you want?” I ask, glaring at him. He throws my head down into the ground, causing me to break a tooth. “What I want…” He starts to say as he walks towards the machine, “To become ruler of all time.”
I can’t help but to laugh as I slowly get back to my feet. “You really think the Corps is gonna allow that?” I say, looking around to see how many men he has left standing. “10….damn,” I think, sighing. At full strength, I can take them without breaking a sweat but with my power down to practically nothing, it could be a challenge.
He starts to laugh as he flips a switch, causing the machine to hum to life. “By the time anymore arrive, it will be to late.” He pushes a button and slowly, a temporal vortex appears.
“Damn….no choice, gotta risk it”, I think as I spring into action, knocking out the first guard with a punch to the jaw and taking his weapon.
“Stop him!” Krexler shouts, checking the instrument panel and making sure the vortex was safe to enter.
They all rush at me, armed with knives and guns. I take out the closet with a single shot but have the gun knocked out of my hand by another. Before I can react, the one who knocked the gun away punches me in the face, sending me crashing to the ground. I didn’t let that stop me and I quickly take him out with a leg sweep. I jump up and start punching wildly at the others, knocking them down, just trying to get to Krexler. While I am doing this, Krexler prepares to jump through the vortex. I have to move fast. Without thinking it through, I break my way through the remaining guards and rush Krexler with the last of my power, sending us both flying through the vortex. Unsure of what was to come, I shout as the world slowly fades from view, to be replaced by bright colors and swirling movements. I feel as though I am going to puke. When I think I can’t take anymore, my little trip is over. I come barreling out the other end and slam smack dab into the concrete. Just before I succumb to my injuries, I think to myself “Where am I?” Then darkness takes me.

Note: Since LM1313 still has not been back to TZ he has been removed from this RPG. His character, Tel'ak Ren, may be used by all RPGers to continue the plot.

Since it's been 5 months since the last actual post and I've heard that not many people want to continue, this RPG is officially closed.
