I was wondering if anyone else finds this funny...
I am a huge Inuyasha fan and I KNOW Inu Yasha is part dog demon and all, but does his ears remind anyone else of a cat? They remind me of the ears off the characters of Digi Charat. The very first episode of Inu Yasha, (before I knew he was a dog demon) I remember Kagome felt Inu Yasha's ears and she said something about him having dog ears. I wanted to say, "stupid, those are cat ears if I ever saw them!"
::raises hand::
Yeah, I thought so too when I first saw the promos, but after she said that it was kind of obvious they weren't.

I have gotten so maniaclly mad over people that say it's cat ears, and a VERY GOOD example is Starch. When he made that thread about "cat" that's what he was referring to. He says that dogs have floppy ears, but I pointed out that some dogs have pointy ears like German Shepards and Welsh Corgis (Ein).

Well, I think it's only natural to assume that they're cat ears at first glance. I mean, the way they're animated they really could be either, and anime has a long tradition of cat people but not too many examples of dog people.

I also thought that hey were cat ears. The reason dogs are not used in anime is because in Japan they don't have huge yards for dogs to run around in. So cats are more popular because of that fact. Cats and small dogs, that is.

Dont forget Great Danes.... POint ears...
Any ears can be pointy as long as they are cropped and such. Although G.S, and G.D. and various other breeds have a natural affinity to it

Yeah, I thought they were cat ears at first too. I cant really tell the difference between the cat ears and the dogs ears.

I also know Inuyasha is supposed to be part dog demon, but I like to call him Kitty Boy. I think he's cute. ^_^

When I first saw those ears I just thought "What the hell is that on his head?!?" Why is he wearing ears like that on this head.

Yeah, I know some breeds have pointy ears, but all of my dogs have droopy ones, as do all of my friends' dogs. So it's only natural that the first thing that comes to mind when I think of dogs ears is that they are droopy...

I've watched josie and the pussycats and the ears he has on his head look just like the hats that those girls wear :D

Well, I first thought that Inuyasha was a girl because of those "cat ears". I don't remember any male anime character with cat ears before.
So you're not the only one, Serenitymoon.

After spending 5 months working in a pet store, I can tell you that most dog ears that stick up like that are due to a pair of scissors. That's right. People constantly mutilate their animals to get them to look "propper." You think Inu Yasha had his ears clipped?

Ok people, stop forcing what they actually are down our throats. The idea here is what the ears LOOK like. We all know what Inuyasha means, but they LOOK like cat ears. Doesn't mean they are. No need to argue about something so trivial.

I later learned that those were dog ears, but before then, I thought they were cat ears. That's why I put quotation marks over cat ears.
Ah well, it's no big deal.

I remember when I first saw him I already knew (I had read it elsewhere) that Inu-Yasha was a dog, so the idea that he could be a cat never occured to me. ....Which is strange. It should've because they look very much like cat ears. When Sesshoumaru transforms, he even has floppy dog ears himself. So did their father. Why would one brother have 'em but not the other? I have a feeling Rumiko Takahashi tried drawing Inu-Yasha with floppy ears and it was just visually detracting in some manner. :p
