first of all, he's a cute little bugger.

after seeing the second episode, what so special about the dog, Ein? the episode stated that there were experiments done to dog which made the dog very important. was the high bounty on Hakeem because he is a dangerous man or because he took the dog?

Ein is a data dog, and that means he's very smart; to my understanding the bounty was put on Hakim because he had Ein and the people who enhanced Ein wanted him back, very badly.

The dog is, indeed, a special dog. You learn a little more about him in the later episodes, but basically, those experiments made him very important to certain technologies. He's a "data dog" that can interact with computers at lightning speeds.

Weird, yes, but they don't make too big a deal about his origins after this. From now on, he's just another member of the crew.

If you're looking for specifics, simply put, there aren't any. The creators of Bebop purposefully left Ein's origins and his abilities and differences from a regular dog vague and mysterious. However, we do know that he can use a computer and can understand human speech. Beyond that, he's a cutie and a fun guy to have around.

I don't remember where I saw this, but I was under the impression that Ein was twice as intelligent as an ordinary dog. So still not that smart, but smart enough to do things like anticipate the net gun in Stray Dog Strut. But it's not really explained in the series.

He's 732958723095723 times more intelligent than an ordinary dog. Just watch the episode Brain Scratch and you'll see.

Or, as they'd probably say in the episode Mushroom Samba, he's a fungi to hang around. :D

Okay, okay, it wasn't really all that funny... but anyways, Ein is a dog, he can use a computer, understand human speech, and all that other stuff everyone said.

Basically a dog with the intelligence of a super hacker but the character and personality (depends on the breed) of a regular lovable Welsh Corgi.

Yes, in Brain Scratch Ein definitely proves his usefulness.

Probably over summer. It is currently scheduled for theatrical release in March, IIRC.

No! No one is smarter than Ed! Ed is the best!...okay, maybe that's a little too far, but still...at least give the girl some credit.

Don't worry, if she doesn't get credit from us, she'll give it to herself. :)

I never knew this about Ein. Still only have the first 3 DVDs~ Thanks for the info!

The fifth DVD, if you end up picking it up, has Ein (along with Ed) on the cover, and has a full Ein profile on the back.

It's all the Ein info you ever wanted and then some....well, not really.
