I think we should change the look to match the new adult swim

I've been working on a new look for the past few days... I know some may think what we have now is fine but I really need to get rid of the site links at the top.

Currently, I'm at a crossroads. The new look will either resemble the new AS look, or it'll represent the look and feel of the new site(which will launch... oyyyy, soon I hope). Either way, I think it's a good idea to get a new look for this place sooner rather than later.

What do you guys think?

I'm not sure yellow is the best color for a board. especially iin large blocks. and we certainly don't need another black on black theme on Toonzone.

I vote for using the new Adult Swim look myself, simply because it'll likely be more familiar looking to those who enter by other sites rather than the AS fansite.

OK, you asked for it.

Here's my current "draft" of the look, made before the new one came on air. I used a copy of the board from several months back, so don't get any ideas.

Keep in mind that this is a work in progress and I'll have a "poll" later this week or next with my general ideas. (I contracted my friend/design guy to make a bg, color scheme, and logo for the board... I did this myself) I realize that this is incredibly loud and YES, I am in the process of figuring out ways of toning down. Also the main logo is being modded to make it more of a Master Shake joke.

But I'm just showing you the wavelength I'm working on...

I still think it would be perfect if you made the red behind the thread titles a little less bright. Or maybe black or grey or blue.

And I think Meatwad works better there than Shake would. :meatwad:

Too much red. Way, way, way, way, waaaay too much red. Try using blue instead, all that red hurts my eyes. :-\
Try a slight bevel on the background, to give it a slight 3-Dimensional appearance. Try an alternating in/out bevel (one in, next one out, next one in, etc.).

The Meatwad thing is funny as a one time gag and the checkboard pattern is horrible. Don't get me started on the neon orange.....

Never said that I was a good web designer... this is the main reason the new site is taking SO DAMN LONG to do, because I can use dreamweaver... but I don't have an eye for web design as much as my friend does. Said friend is working on a new design as we speak (riiiiiight, said friend?) and I'm going from there. Expect to see an explanation this week.

Anyway, making changes now... you'll see something later.

I really like the look we have going for the message board now. I might change the banner to integrate into the design for the new site, but other than that, I'd really leave everything alone.

Sorry, but your mind tricks barely work on me. :D Anyway, SOMETHING on this board is going to change... at least the title. It's not going to fit anymore, trust me.

Thursday is going to be the day I'll put a poll up... thursday or Friday. That's when my friend is going to get some work done on the site layout, and I'll have 3-4 choices at the ready.

I'm all for a bit of tweaking, but could we maybe keep the water pattern? It's pretty, it's easy on the eyes, and it perfectly gets across "Adult Swim," or at least "swim." :)

I do like the layout for this board, I don't think it needs a big change, maybe something small so everyone's happy.

Matthew Williams, apart from there being too much red, I don't think the checkerboard theme will work. It's a little hard on the eyes. With a little work, it could turn out to be quite good. No offense or anything, I'm trying to be picky, just telling you my opinion!

I'm fine with going for a new look (just not too dark, please). However, please don't make it just an ASC joke (like the Meatwad logo at the top of the sample board). If you want to include characters from the shows, please use a mix of characters so that all AS watchers (whether they prefer ASC, ASA or both) will feel happy and welcome. :)
