I liked it, but I wasn't awed. What I'm impressed with is that they made a bunch of custom bumpers and they have an intro that relates to the Adult Swim block.

I really like it. It's easy on the eyes, it's creative, and does a great job of giving the block a distinct feel (something the other look did very well, too). I like the colors and the whole visual style, but don't care for the music too much. The music's not irritating, just kinda..."blah." I don't think this is better or worse than the last look. It's just different, and it's very good. I'm quite happy with it.

I had no idea what to expect about the new look. It's ok. Sticks with the whole "swim" thing. The bumpers are clever (some of them) especially the ATHF one; mouth-to-straw resuscitation, lol. :shake: The only thing I didn't like was the music. The music wasn't much.

It's pretty good. I like it, but it doesn't meet my expectations. However, I guess my expectations were set really high. I loved the original look with the old people in the pool, and I was hoping for something else that I would like more than that. This isn't what I had expected at all. The remix of Mambo Gallega with the lifeguard over it was perfect, and the new music is just... there. It's good, but not great. I'm sure it'll grow on me over time.

It was alright, but not as good as it could be. I like it better than the old one, but it looks like the CPR thing will get old, fast.

It definitely has it's strong points (Sealab, ATHF bumpers), but, for me, nothing can compete with the charm and uniqueness of the old people.

I like it. I enjoy how each and every show got a cool little skit and new animations. (Who did them anyway? Especcialy concerning Oblongs, Ripping Friends and Mission Hill) Although it doesn't beat out the old one by a long shot. (As it's still a bit TOO weird) It's great. I like the music too.

The anime will probaly get something else. I can't imagine Spike doing CPR :p But if it is the same. Man, Cowboy Bebop is going to be a bit more on the HILARIOUS Side.

I did NOT like it

The music was a bad replacement, if you had to change it atleast put something more descent. The bumpers were nice but trust me they will be a pain in the arse after a few months with it. Maybe it is just I miss the Old AS alot but still I don't like this new look. Cartoon Network has screwed me again and for the 36th time........It's Personal.

To tell the truth, I had no expectations at all because I rarely thought about. It was good, though.

Eh... I'll make my judgement when I see what happens with Lupin III, Inuyasha, YYH, and Bebop...

It's decent. Easy one the eyes, but not quite as distinctive as the old look. I'm sure I'll grow to like it in time.

The new look is okay. I don't think it leaves as much as an impression as the old one, but its still okay I suppose. I hope the anime segment has something else.

I definitely liked the new look over the old one with the old people in the pool.

And I know where those people went: Grizzlebees.

Well, I like the music it plays for the over 18 warning. And I like the little skits for the comedy shows. But, I don't like it how the action shows don't get specific skits. Instead we just get some samarai guy. I would've liked to see Miroku attempt to give CPR to someone and feel them up at the same time. And I HATE that the openings are being cut from the action shows. I had high hopes for the block after seeing it Sunday night, but after watching Monday night, I'm dissapointed.

I don't expect that the anime shows get as much attention as Cartoon Network's original programming, but geez, it really seems like the action shows are getting the shaft. It just seems that the presentation of the comedy shows is soo much better than the action shows, I mean, why can't they treat the anime shows a with a LITTLE respect. I miss the good old days when Adult Swim first started.

Well. MK12 made this look in July, before Inuyasha and Lupin were even announced.

But think about it. Do you really think the distributors (on behalf of the original creators) will enjoy their characters being misused in that fashion? I'm sure this was a legal no-no for Cartoon Network. Thus, the samurai guy.

Uhhhh...have you seen Japanese commercials? Anime characters frequently appear in commercials. If creators let their characters sell suntan lotion and crap I'd doubt they'd have a problem with these little sketches. Besides, Matt Groening, and that Kricfalusi guy don't have a problem with their characters being in these little sketches so I really doubt the creators of the anime shows would mind, especially if it helped to promote the show. And was Futurama really announced way back in July?

That's because the creator would be PAID for it.

CN worked out these kind of details with FOX ahead of time, but for shows like Yu Yu and Bebop, which were already on the block before a new look was being prepared, it's a different matter altogether.

And yes, I do think distributors will mind if their characters are being shown giving CPR to other characters. I think they would take offense to people being used out of character. Anime distributors aren't as open minded as FOX is. Maybe DiC wouldn't care if characters from their shows were played around with, but not Pioneer and Bandai.

Overall, I think the "new" Adult Swim is great. The look is very unique and quite funny, and while I miss the original theme music, there isn't really anything wrong with the new one.

I'm a little disappointed that they cut the openings on Adult Swim Action, but then what else would you expect? You can't expect Cartoon Network to lose advertising time (that'll in turn give us more anime) just to please the hardcore anime fans.

The other thing that bugs me a bit is that, while CN is still seperating Adult Swim Comedy from Adult Swim Action, the bumpers they use for ASA are a little out of place. On Adult Swim Comedy, you have the hilarious "safety signs" theme, and Adult Swim Action uses that sleek retro theme with yellow and orange colors. However, the bumper ending each advertising segment of ASA uses the "safety signs" theme (albeit with a ninja) that doesn't appear anywhere else during any other Adult Swim Action promos or bumpers. Not a major thing - just kinda' bugged me at first, taking a little consistency away from ASA.

So, aside from cutting the openings to the ASA shows, I have no complaints about the look, line-up, or schedule of the new Adult Swim, and I'm incredibly glad to do away with the old, very cheap and inconsistent ASA look, as well as gain a fresher ASC look. Plus, we're finally done with any and all Toonami fillers!!

Edit:
And the new openings for InuYasha and Lupin the 3rd are great - it's been a very long time since we actually got decent, creative montage openings for the anime - what with Toonami's openings absolutley sucking lately, and all.

I'm probably the only person here who thought the bumpers with the old people swimming was getting tired. So when I finally watched the new and improved Adult Swim, did I get that? No. Instead, I got a change. The music was better than the old one (the old one was kinda dull) and I liked how they did it by inserting the characters from the shows into a first-aid style book. I like the schedule, except for the Sunday one. I think it should be the same as the weekday one (or at least have it so that way it's action first, then comedy to contrast the weekday schedule).

But all in all, I loved the new look.

Keep it coming! :D

The new look is good, but it isn't what I expected. Not that I had anything great in mind, I like what they did instead! The whole "swim idea" stayed and that was really what I wanted. So, I think I can enjoy this for the new AS weekdays!

I love the new look, the old people got on my nerves since day one!

the samurai dude breaking his face on the block before Inuyasha cracked me up! but then again, i was in a good mood after Lupin

I don't remeber the music at all, at least the old people music (mambo whatsis?) was memorable, oh well. funny, interesting and "in theme" promos are good.

didn't watch Inuyasha but did they finally get rid of the whiny "you tried to kill me didn't you!?" op. GOD that was irritating

RIP : ASA openings

The new look was okay. I admit that I'll miss the old people swimming, but at least CN is trying to stay true to the "adult swim" theme. I was definately suprised that the beginning bumper showed Jim of Mission Hill being given the hymlic maneuver. Wasn't anyone else suprised?

My only real complaint (which other people have already stated) is that the bumpers for the ASA shows do not fit in with the bumpers for the ASC shows. For the ASC shows, we see those show's characters performing first aid. While the ASA have some samuri guy or gal performing martial arts. I suppose if they are going to use a random samuri fighters, it would be nice if they had him/her performing first aid in order to fit in with the other bumpers.

I like them, definitely better than the old people (have I mentioned before that I despised the old people bumpers? I did? Well, I'm saying so again.)

But then I was also hoping beyond hope to get some sort of host or hosts for the block ala' Cartoon Planet. Even though I thought the New Years bash was kinda poorly done, I still would have liked having hosts.

um...ew? I hope you were joking because......

I didn't mean it like that. Maybe you think that way but not everyone else :p . I just meant that the old people swimming was a familiar and pleasant image. Whenever I saw those promos, it got me all set to sit down and watch AS. I'm sure after awhile, I'll probably feel the same way about the new promos.
