What's the worst lie you've ever told in your life?

I told everyone that I was attending college for 3 years when I wasn't (I'd dropped out to get a real job in the IT field so I wasn't just being a bum while living with them).
Just before I moved out of their house I told them (partly because it was time to tell them and partly because they were expecting to attend my graduation a month from then)

When I was a kid, I shoplifted a couple toys from a local store. My parents saw them and asked where I got them. I told them " I found them in the street."

I don't think I've lied in years... Not that I talk that much to do so.

Worst lie....that would have to be when I was at an amusement park and I wanted to ride the go-karts but you had to be 12 and I was 10, almost 11. If you were underage, you needed an adult to ride with you. Well, my mom didn't want to buy my dad another ticket to take me for a ride, so she told me to say I was 12. I got on the ride all right, but somehow they found out I was 10 (I ended up telling them because I felt guilty!) and they kicked me off the ride :( ! After that, I rarely ever lie.
I don't know if that counts, since my mom told me to do it!

I never lie. But I would probably make a little white lie once every few years. Yes, that how rare it should be considered.

I had to lie a lot in a family issue, it was very hard as I'm not a good liar, I think I am, but in fact, I'm really bad and it's something I don't enjoy, but I felt I needed to protect one of my family. It caused me a great deal of stress. Be honest, it's far better.

Hehehehe - why do you think I picked a villian as my screen name? ;)
Nah, seriously though, that was the first and last time I ever stole anything. To this day I still can't remember why I did it in the first place, and once my parents asked me where I got the toys, I got so nervous that they were "on to me" that I never even thought about it again.

Well let's see. The worst one I've ever told was about a year or two ago when I was going outside and was really made. Well I jammed my toe on my dad's car's tire and that just set me off. I hip checked the side of the car and left a 1 foot wide 4 inch deep dent in his car.
When he asked who the heck put the dent there, I just shrugged it off like I didn't know who it was. Took him forever to get the thing popped back out.

I was in the water and I was floating (but I was really pretending to drown) So the lifeguard dove into the water to save me. She got to me and asked me if I was alright and I said I was blowing bubbles!!! :D

I paid $200 for an animation cel from 'The Secret of NIMH'... then told my parents that someone had given it to me as a Christmas gift. If they found out how much I'd paid for a picture of a mouse they would have freaked.....

I pretended to like a girl once in high school because she liked me and I didn't want to just blow her off, even though I had absolutely no feelings for her whatsoever. I've lied about many things. Most of the time it's to accomplish something good, but I have my little white lies, too.

I'm not tellin! :p ...well actually there was a girl liked for a long time and we were having a lock in (yeah this was like in middle school) asking who everybody liked and she asked me and I said some other chick's name...I don't know why and I regret it to this day. It may not have been a horrible lie but it killed a chance for a good relationship with a girl I felt something for....something I'm kinda missing at the moment

I did that once.
Honestly, I lie at least once a day. About minor things, like not wanting to hurt people's feelings, or gently prodding someone with an excuse. Sometimes it's worse. I've lied so much I don't even know which one is the worst.
And that's not a lie. I'm going to Hell, for sure... :harley:

Heh, I'm pretty much the same way... except probably more than once a day. I only lie so people's feelings don't get hurt or people don't get in trouble or something. Just my views. I don't lie for egotistical reasons, just survival.
I actually can't exactly place what is the worst lie I ever told, but its probably the time the police busted me at school on some posession charges and I fought them all the way through court. Had the charges dropped and everything. The only thing I ended up having to do was was go to a 10-day substance abuse course (which I only attended six days, heh), and a 10-day suspension from school.
Originally I would have had a $250 fine, 28 hours of community service, a 30 page essay on what I did was wrong, charges on my record until I'm 18 and expulsion from school.
So basically I lied to the police, lied to my parents, I lied to my lawyer, lied to state prosecution, lied to the judge and generally lied under oath. They all believed me, and I got away pretty much free. But that was years ago... so whatever. I'm not proud of it, but there is no way I regret it in the least. I'd do it again, given the circumstances.
And VinceA, that was quite the lie. I know you're probably not proud of it, but man... that would be a very hard lie to keep up. The fact that you pulled it off until graduation for three whole years is amazing. I've told millions of big lies, but none have lasted that long that took constant keeping up with.
