And if the aliens are coming I hope they're benevolent so that we can all just become immortal from their technology. You'd never hear me complain about another birthday ever again.

2D rocks! Definatly a severe shortage of 2D goodness out there, especially with the technology they have at their hands now! Imagine the characters from Guilty Gear doing Castlevania/Metroid/Strider-esque action with an RPG backbone. It'd sell like hotcakes!
