Previously, the title of "Stupid Question of the Year" went to the customer who asked me, "Is this half off with the 25% sale?" but a new challenger has entred the ring with the question: "When I rented my movies, they told me they were due Friday by noon. Does noon mean noon?"

Hmmm...that's pretty dumb, but I got a dumb one today, too, which is the stupidest one I've heard all year so far.
I was working behind the till at Shell (the gas station) and this customer from outside comes in. I didn't see where from, exactly, (my back was turned), and when I automatically asked her if she'd gotten any gas just now, she responded, "I don't know." How could you not know? Turns out she didn't.
There was also someone trying to pay at our pumps, and it wasn't being friendly with her credit card. There is a selection on the pump where you choose whether you're using a credit or a debit card. She runs inside in a huff and demands of me, "Hey! Your pump is busted, it won't read my card. Is this credit card, so do I hit 'credit' or 'debit'?" I think the answer is obvious. Anyhow, after I explained it to her, she drove off because she didn't want to "put up with this <bleep>." Geez, some people.
