i have deduced that jack is a "munchkin." he took on an army of those 8 legged things and was ready to take out more. he is very much in vain of Drizzt who is pretty much invincible.

(Hand up) Excuse me, but who is Drizzt? Is he some sort of character in an anime? And what exactly is a "Munchkin?" (I don't think that word has anything to do with The Wizard of Oz).

Being one to dip an occasional toe in the anime pool, I'm wondering if any of you know who "Drizzt" is, and what anime is he from? And what is a "Munchkin?"

I'm asking this because someone posted a message on the Cartoon Cartoons message board about Samurai Jack was a "Munchkin," and that he was invincible like "Drizzt."

Anybody got the 4-1-1 on this?

Drizzt Do'Urden is a dark elf ranger from the fantasy books, Forgotten Realms.

He's not an anime character.... not yet at least.

He wields two scimitars and in the past few books is so fast and invincible that he was what us D&D gamers call.... A Munchkin. That's basically a character that breaks all the rules and is unnaturally powerful.

If I were to make a Fighter who was 1st level be able to fight like Ryu who spent years becomign the 44th level fighter that he is... I would've made a Munchkin.

First books were awesome tho. Basically their me and my friends bible when it comes to fantasy.

Icewindale Trilogy:
The Crystal Shard
Streams of Silver
Halfling's Gem

Dark Elf Trilogy:
Homeland
Exile
Sojourn

Excellent reads and worth picking up.

Author wrote himself into a corner after these books were Drizzt just became exponetially more powerful with each book that he was a DBZ character in a world of normal characters that could hardly see him move.

But the latest book the author has heard our cries and things are back to normal. Drizzt is still a bad ass and remains to this day my number one favorite hero of all time, but he's not so insanely powerful anymore.

He's referring to an RPG term for a character who is incredibly, unrealistically powerful, so powerful that he takes all the fun out of it for whoever else is playing because nobody else can accomplish anything worthwhile. Think "Goku."
Drizzt is a character from a series of Dungeons and Dragons novels.

He's not that powerful. Drizzt always had trouble with dragons and demons. I could whip them with 2 sword strikes in Baldur's Gate 2! LOL!

Seriously, Drizzt was never a DBZ type of character. He was an insane Shinobi-like fighter, but he had his limitations. It's not like he could fly and teleport at will.

It's not really your fault, PeppeRaskell1, (since you didn't know that Drizzt isn't an anime character) but your "Who is Drizzt?" thread was off-topic on the Anime Forum, so I went ahead and merged it into this thread.

Now you know... and knowing is half the battle!

For what it's worth, Samurai Jack does get defeated in other episodes. Episode XXII (22), Jack and the Hunters, is the prime example. Ep VI (6), Ikra, is another.
Also, there are other eps where Jack doesn't so much win (or at least doesn't win the fight) as his foe loses. Ep XXX (30), Jack on Zombie Hill, is an instance of this.
There are also some where Jack needs help--either from allies or from supernatural sources. Ep IX (9), the Triseraquins; ep XVII (17), the Scotsman's Wife; ep XVIII (18) the Marauders; and ep XXXI (31), the Minions of Set, are all like this.

However, Jack is able to overcome incredible odds. But that's what makes him so cool.

Well, that's the first time I heard that term for a super-powered character. And I like those Forgotten Realms novels, though I've sadly only got the Icewindale Trilogy concerning Drizzt. Most of my others are from the Harpers series...

Anyway, if Jack never got defeated, what would be the point of the show? And for that matter, why isn't he back home yet?!

Not that I'm dissing Jack in any way. Jack's easily the hottest of the CCFers. Definiately in a class of his own, even if it's not... munchkin.
