Invader Zim is a NickToon. I believe it comes on at 8:00 PM Central, and revolves around a Martian that is stuck in elementary school after failing to capture Earth.

Gee, it sounds like I've been insulted. But, don't fret. Invader Zim is a safe show just like THE ANGRY BEAVERS! You don't need drugs. It isn't like THE RUGRATS, in which you DO need DRUGS in order to LIKE the show.
And, you're gonna ask me why I'm poking fun @ the Rugrats. Well, it's the least I can do after it's creator Arlene Klasky poked fun @ The Angry Beavers...

Here's the short story...

Over at Nickelodeon, Arlene Klasky (rugrats) and Mitch Schauler (angry beavers) were huge rivals, similar to Chuck Jones and Bob Clampett. In my opinion, Arlene was Chuck and Mitch was Bob. In 1997 when TAB debuted on Nick it became popular because the rating for what audience was expanded. Instead of being "just for kids", TAB was more derived for teens and adults. Arlene apparently got jealous of Mitch because the Rugrats were soon about to be called "yesterday's diapers'' (no pun intended). Arlene didn't want her show to be thrown off the shelf, she wanted to be the most popular of the Nick- staffers. In 1998 Arlene DEMAND Herb Scannell to do a Rugrats movie, but she never told Herb WHY she wanted a movie. Mitch was unawear of the movie, and so were TAB / Rugrats fans. If you guys noticed the Rugrats movie was released unexpected, which Arlene inteded it on. Rugrats returned to their peak, but TAB was still the second most popular. This is where the rivalry of TAB and Rugrats began. Arlene wanted to make sure TAB wouldn't win ground. On Interviews Arlene threw out derision at TAB and even made an insult to MITCH! And this interview was even broadcasted NATIONWIDE!!! TAB fans finding out that TAB was a "stupid, over-bearing" show and found out the "truth" about TAB, stopped watching the serise and started focusing on Rugrats. TAB websites shut down and Rugrats websites started popping up. Arlene obviously not satisfied, looked over some TAB episodes and complained to Herb that some scenes were deemed to "violent" for kids AND teens. TV Executives edited several scenes (sloppily if you ask me), and banned a couple of episodes. To make double-sure Rugrats would stay @ their peak, Arlene did a second Rugrats movie, and added a Japanese character (who if you ask me looks stereotypical). Also, on some of the other Klasky shows, references to TAB and Mitch were kinda cruel. On Rocket Power Otto Rocket is making a list of gay-ish people. The TAB voices Nick Bakay and Rich Horvitz were on the list and so was Mitch!

Mitch, who had no clue what was going on, wanted to make a TAB movie. But stupid him, went to Arlene for guidelines. Arlene told him there wasn't enough money for a TAB movie. Yet, this didn't stop the 2nd Rugrats movie to getting released. And, it's rumored Arlene is working on another Rugrats movie, and the TAB studio collapsed. So, you see. This is why TAB fans like to poke fun @ the rugrats and insult Arlene Klasky, who by the TAB fans is considered, "The biggest S.O.B. on the face of the earth."

I am a big fan of the show too, Brandon! but never knew this story...and he fact that those idiots over at Rugrats did that to TAB was terrible. KlaskyCsuspo are churning out half-witted shows right now (WHO watches As Told By Ginger? WHO?) and destroying a clever show that wasn't just for some children is ALWAYS terrible. Why do the good shows get cancelled...

Violent, peh. I'm sure the skeleton shown in the early post office eppy (Tommy on tyhe rail to junk mail pit) is not too scary also? Geez....Klasky's lost my repsect...

I for one never cared about the KlaskyCsuspo cartoons. They strike me as dull, as well as ugly. I liked Rugrats, but stopped watching after a while. It sort of lost it's charm, I guess.

On the other hand, I always liked the visual style of TAB, and thought it was funny...

Well, Jack, there's about 20 TAB episodes that haven't aired in America yet. So it isn't off the aire "all the way." Man, why does UK get all the good stuff? I hear they get the Censored 11 cartoons!

....the U.S. censors seem to think anything that pertains or imitates violence, not just the actual thing, is good enough to get something banned. Sigh...

That was an interesting story. TAB I always found was very funny, Rugrats was okay for a while, I like maybe a FEW episodes (mainly the Ice Cream Mountain one), but ever since they added more characters, the show sucks. TAB for ever, Arlene Klasky is an *****hole!

--if I'm wrong, but Ms. Klasky publicly insulted and slandered her rival at every opportunity, using the media as a weapon. Now that's very unprofessional, and by all rights should've gotten her censured and/or terminated, not rewarded with two movies and a renewed contract. One of the first things I was told as a journalist was that we weren't allowed to write pieces that criticized fellow staffers...obviously TV execs aren't held to as stringent ethics as newspaper folk!
I'll admit I didn't understand a couple of Angry Beavers episodes--"Stinky Toe" and the ep with Norb's ear infection left me scratching my head--but on the whole I enjoyed it, and found Nick Bakay's overemphasizing vocals a hoot.

Wow. I had no IDEA all of that happened - so THAT's what happened to Norb and Dag!! :( Poor guys...

I guess that also explains the proliferation of cartoons like Rocket Power ... Yeech. I could forgive the ugliness of those cartoons (and the waste of computer effects on them in some cases) if the stories were good - but they rarely are.

Nobody I know watches As Told By Ginger - and after what I've read, I'm not planning to start watching it either.

(Oh yeah, and I got a kick out of the way the Beavers pronounced things too. sigh...makes me miss the show even more now... )

I would not worry, guys-like all empires, the Klasky-Csuspo one is eventually going to fall eventually. The question is, like most empires, is it gonna be a slow, painful fall?

One of my usual brilliant thoughts, but have the fans/makers of TAB tried to get the show back on the air? If anyone starts a petiton, I'll sign it!

Actually, the only eppy I never got was Norb's ear infection as well-and they had brung in Stump's family to boot. Oh, well...it still had its moments.

The reason you din't understand "Stump's Family Reunion" where Norb has an ear infection was because a scene was cut ot. Norb having a bottle of beer dumped on his head was cut out. That's why Norb acts so screwy in that episode.

No, the show was cancelled after three seasons. The movie "The Great Parent Mystery" was the last episode.

Catdog cancelled...great, another worthwhile show goes away. Why was it cancelled? Poor ratings or more Klasky bashing? This had great char personalities...loved it when Cat and Dog's played against each other.

Oh, and for the record, I LOVED "The Great Parent Mystery". Nice to see The Greasers get a comeuppance! The reasons the parents could not find Catdog was clever as well...
