Big O 2 producer Chieo Ohashi sat down for an interview in Newtype #3 to talk a little about Big O 2. Here is that interview for those who haven't seen it yet.Takashi Watanabe(TW): Are any of the details in the second series different from the first?
Chieo Ohashi(CO): I listened to the feedback I got when it aired as part of the Toonami block on Cartoon Network in America. The Americans will probably like certain parts of the new series. Both Cartoon Network and Bandai Visual financed it.
TW: The new series will pick up right where the first series left off, at Episode 14, right?
CO: The series was planned to be a total of 26 episodes. But in the middle of production, we had to cut it short at 13 episodes. That's why the first series ended like it did. It was three years before we were able to continue it.
TW: Were any parts of the second series made specifically with the American market in mind?
CO: All the Americans wanted was action[laughs]! I did give some consideration to that, but I didn't make any big changes.
TW: It must've been a fun series to make.
CO: Yes, it was. I'm glad I was able to get the staff that worked on the first series back together again. We had our ups and downs, but I think it turned out great, so please look forward to it!
