Would anyone tell me why people would think Lupin is a Bebop ripoff should the situation happen?

Probably because he's a suit-wearing goofball who can be a badass when he has ta be.

The thing is, Spike was inspired by Lupin. I mean, aside from the obvious fact that Lupin came before Bebop (then again, some people are kinda blind *looks at those "Char is a rip-off of Zechs!" people*), I think the creators have publically said that they got inspiration for Spike from Lupin.

Conflicts betwwn Anime shows and there people, very interesting, but why the arguement, I see nothing wrong with that?

Ah the Bebop/Lupin comparison. I knew of Lupin before Bebop, but never made the comparison. Then I saw a Lupin movie after Bebop. Basically, Spke is based on Lupin, Jet is baed on Jigen, and Faye is based on Fujiko. Ed is Ed. Actually, when I saw the movie premeire in NYC, I've heard Ed's based on Yoko Kanno. Oh and Ein is based on the character designer's Welsh corgie. Another thing I saw at the con was the intro to Lupin. A scene in this has Fujiko machine gunning down a door, a scene emulated when we first see Faye. Plus Faye is kinda a third wheel to Jet and Spike's operation, though a little bit less separate than Fujiko. Plus let us look at Jet and Jigen's beard. I rest my case, you honor. Back off, back off!

A side note, while talking about cosplay, my freinds and I came up with a funny idea. A cool changable costume would be Lupin, Spike, and Nabashin (from Excel Saga). You'd need 3 wigs and like a second jacket for Spike, but they're all close enough. Both Spike and Nabashin are inspired by Lupin.
