Hello there. Been awhile, hasn't it?
You've probably all noticed by now that the site has "exploded", so to speak. A lot of you have been thinking of what this exactly means, why I did it, and what's coming next. Guess it's time to come clean.
"Adult Swim: The Fan Site", as you knew it, is gone. Kaboom. Exploded. But I haven't given up on it-- it's being redesigned and rebuilt from scratch. Dragged kicking and screaming into a comprehensive Regis and Kelly-style makeover, if you will. When it comes out, the site's going to be in much, much better condition than it was before. You have my guarantee.
But why explode it? Why not keep it going with regular updates? To be honest, I tried that. I took on the site with this big new redesign squarely in mind; but when I got the job the original site remained dormant for several weeks. I was going to resurrect it, return regular updates to the site, and try and maintain it on a basic level while the new site was being developed.
But then that pesky thing called "life" hadda step in.
A birth of a nephew added a sense of urgency to the family. Then, not long after that, our news section underwent a major behind-the-scenes revamp-- and I took a position as assistant head of reporters. News became the primary concern for me here at TZ-- the site became a secondary focus. When THAT settled down, school ramped up with a variety of projects, including one that left me emotionally and physically taxed to my limits. Add a recent spate of 20-hour work weeks on top of a very full load of school, and you have an incredibly burnt out Hulkie. To be honest, I was around at TZ and on the Internet fairly often, and I have posted-- but it was on a sporadic basis, and I've been distracted and tired for most of this time.
Now, thankfully, school's over for the semester and I can devote some focus to the revamp of the site once again. I'm going to be checking in a lot more over the next few weeks, hopefully making a little headway on the site.
When should you expect to see the new site? TENTATIVELY... and I am going to stress that as much as I possibly can-- I'm shooting to get part of it up on January 12th to coincide with the launch of AS Weekdays. It is not going to be a full launch by any means... the plan's a bit too complex to get it all done in a month-- but expect to see something on January 12th. Hopefully.
Yes, I apologize for the sad state of the site over the past few weeks, and missing the really big news was frankly inexcusable on my part. But believe me, I know it's in a hole and I'm trying to do all that I can to get it out of the sinkhole. It's going to take time and effort, but it's going to be pulled out. I hope you guys understand now.
Laters.
