View Full Version : January Review Threads

Matt (Williams) and I have kinda agreed that the review threads system will have to be changed starting in January. So here we offer, to you, the visitors, the many options on how you want it to work.

OPTION ONE - Sunday and Weekday: This would use 2 threads a week. a "REVIEWS - Adult Swim Sunday" and "REVIEWS - Adult Swim Weeknights."

PROS: Short, simple.
CONS: The weeknight thread will have a LOT packed into it. Think of a regular night's thread times 4.

OPTION TWO - Daily: This would have a review thread for each day. Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday, etc. After 3 days, the thread would be unstuck.

PROS: Specific, small, and doesn't contain a lot of posts.
CONS: Will create more threads (5) and requires more commitment to make them work. Some may get tired of reviewing.

OPTION THREE - No Reruns: Similar to the CNX:Toonami board's system, this would only do review threads for individual shows, but only if they're premieres. For example, if Birdman was a new episode on Sunday, we'd see "REVIEWS - Harvey Birdman #?: 'Episode Title'." If it were new Lupin III or any anime series/Futurama and had the weekday showings, we'd say "REVIEWS - Lupin III - Week One." Sunday's premiere threads would be unstuck the next day (if need be) if there's a weekday premiere. (4 review thread stickies would be the quota)

PROS: Specific thread titles. Small amount of posts. Would encourage viewing new material.
CONS: May or may not create a lot of threads, depending on what's premiering.

OPTION FOUR - Weekly ASC and Weekly ASA: Similar to what we have now, only it would overtake the course of the entire week. Much like option one, only different categorization.

PROS and CONS: See Option One.

OPTION FIVE - Screw Review Threads: Dump review threads altogether.

PROS: No worries about reviewing shows.
CONS: Some like to review.

Oh, and we're not calling them "Talkback." We're not succumbing to the rest of TZ by calling it that. :D :D

I think that option three is the most sensible one.

Yes option three.

Option 3. What's the point of reviewing reruns?

Yea, Option 3

I voted 4 because it seems the most similar to our current setup, which I like. I like being able to read about all of the different shows in one thread, and I don't really mind the big threads or if people want to review reruns.

Oh, and we're not calling them "Talkback." We're not succumbing to the rest of TZ by calling it that.

The Adult Swim board: We're different! :p

Well, I think option four is good because I also like the setup we have now, but I think option three makes the most sense.

Although, I'd like to add some suggestions to that option. What if we also have a review thread specifically for all the rerun material? Maybe we could do that on weeks when there aren't a lot of premiers. I don't know if that's a good idea or not (we don't want to many threads) I'm just throwing it out there.

Also, maybe we could group all the new Williams Street shows into one thread, and then all the half hour shows into another. Again, I'm just throwing it out there.

So, anyway, option three. And I think it's good that we're not calling them "talkback" threads. Let's strive to be different. :brendon:

I think number 1 would be best since you can still use the same topic after the first night.

I'm tossed between option 3 and option 4.

I'm going with option four because I like how it is now. The problem I see with option three is that sometimes I catch parts that I missed in an episode I've already seen and I want to discuss it.

I voted for number four; it keeps the anime and the comedy reviews seperate from one another, and doesn't bombard us with threads.

I'm going with option one. I still enjoy reading / discussing reviews of shows that have previously aired on the network. Besides, I feel that it's not fair for those who wish to wright them as well,.. which leaves out option three. I would see option two as more of a headache for those who might want to compose a in-week review. Option four would be my second option however I don't feel like sifting through the already huge ASC discussion thread to search for reviews of probably just one series thus the reason for me to choose option one.

I take it that option five was really a joke however if anyone wishes to choose this option, then by all means speak up below. :)

Option #3. The CNX board has been doing it for a while, and I don't have any problems with it.

I went with option one. That's how I'd handle it over on that other "board" if I was still modding there (well, out of those choices anyway. I'd probably just be lazy and make one thread for the week, but that's kinda crazy.). But, out what's thre, one at least seems to make sense, two and three are just gonna cause a LOT of clutter as far as the review threads go (no offence to the CNX board, but the top of it does look like a mess in my opinion), and while four is similar to one, four just seems to have a bit more of problem with just keeping the days straight, since it's easier to jsut write a monday review in one place, instead of having to hop around on two threads for each half of the review. Five just sucks :p

Option 3. It works for the Toonami board so it should work here.

Out of the listed options, I think Option 3 definitely seems to be the most elegant solution.

However, why not make it more similar to the way things are done over at the Toonami board: have weekly review threads, one for each show? I guess it will to a great extent depend on what the specific schedule is, but personally I think this seems like the best way to do it for anime, and probably for Futurama as well.

I'd go with a modified version 4, with an additional thread for the repeats. There will still be people out there seeing these eps for the first time, so we should have a thread for it. And depending on how frequent the posting is, perhaps do a new one only every 2 weeks or more if it is rather slow.

I like Option Four. I think its important to seperate comedy and anime. Each ASA and ASC review topic gets a good amount of reviews, and combine that with weeknights, and I think it would get too lengthy, and hard to sift through. If that wasn't the case, my second choice would be Option Three.

Masamune2052

I'm with you Sheamon, there are going to be people where Adult Swim is new to them and they will want to talk about the "new" episode they just saw.

People who wanted to talk about old stuff could just start a thread about it, I guess. I agree about sometimes catching things during a rerun that you didn't see the first time. That's part of the reason why I liked option 4.

Number 3. It is the most efficient.

If we need to say somethign about a rerun, we can just start our own thread as needed.

I voted for option 4, mostly because I like one big review thread for each partition of the block as it is now. Option three would be okay, I guess, but nearly everything is new to me at this point and I like having somewhere to place my thoughts without getting in the way by posting an entirely new topic that nobody else cared about.
