who here likes the tick? i do. in my opinion that's the greatest cartoon ever made. it was ingenious. i've seen the pilot for the real people and it's really funny. but it's not as good as the cartoon was. man, i love that show.

I think quite alot of folks like the Tick. I'm not all that excited about the live action production, but I'll probably check it out just to see how they pull off the costumes, if for nothing else.

Nice Crow quote, btw. Another of my favorite characters.

the costume for the tick is pretty good and arthur's is nice but that's about the only good thing about the costumes. ok, american maid is called like, well, it's some other name but i forgot it, but she's like captain america which doesn't match at all. she looks like an extremely patriotic american ninja.
die fladermaus is like this mexican guy which if i remember correctly is pretty acurrate. his costume sucks mucho amounts of badness. and he's like a frikkinn pimp. him and "american maid" start makin out like every 5 minutes which is pretty funny. they had sort of a "thing" for each other in the cartoon.
other than that the show looks pretty good. i can't wait till it starts airing.

:D

I don't like the sounds of some of this show. Die Fladermaus behaves like a Mexican pimp who continually makes out with American Maid (or whoever she is)? Ugh. I'll stick with the cartoon.

The Tick was a great show, although I wouldn't call it the best cartoon ever made, but it is up there. The cartoon repeats in Canada on TELETOON and I catch it as much as possible. Great show. Hilarious and ingenious!

Shway avatar, Batmite.

The Tick, like Batman Beyond, was another one of those shows that, although it had a Saturday morning time slot, was not really made for kids. Alot of the humor went over their heads.

Since when has Die Fladermaus been Hispanic?

mucho gracias. my friend (joker) found it for me.
maybe he was german or something, i don't know, i can't remember. but ya know what would be cool, if they had sewer urchin on sometime. but they'd prbably screw him up and make him korean or something.

I too am a fan of the Tick! One of the best cartoons ever, in my opinion.

Personally, i'm curious about the TV show, but I'm a bit leary too. I'll give it a shot when it comes out.
For those that don't know they had to change Die Fleidermaus and American Maid because of copyright conflicts with the old cartoon. Ben doesn't own the rights to those characters, but he wanted to keep them anyway, so he had to change them in small yet significant ways (names, costumes, behavior) to keep them on the show.

Saban, those evil folks, own the copyrights to the supporting cast of THE TICK. Edlund was able to keep rights to THE TICK and AURTHUR, but none of the others. It was the only way to get his show made.

For those of you wondering about the Hispanic Die Fladermaus, his name is.... Bat Manuel. Works for me!

And yeah, those gits at Saban hack me off too. Because of them, we'll never be able to bear witness to the triumphant return of Speak! I miss the avenging capybara of justice.

Probably ones of the best things about The Tick. I hope they show that ep tonite on Teletoon...

"Die Fledermaus" is German for "Bat" (literally translated, "the flying mouse"). There's a Straussian opera by that name, and a synopsis of it can be read here: http://www.metopera.org/synopses/dieflede.html .
I love this concluding line, from another site: "The next morning...following all manner of misunderstandings, everything is explained, and all the blame is put on...champagne." What I wouldn't give for a little drunken smiley here... :p

On the Actor's strike. I hear it'll air late summer, early fall.

From what I've seen on the net, live action Tick is missing up the eyes/nose section of his cowl. While this does indeed make him look stupid, I liked that cowl - in fact I liked the way he always had it on concealing his face...... I want the full cowl! Hmm...perhaps I'm getting too purist in my old age....

I don't know. The first time I saw that new headpiece on the live action guy, I hated it. Like you, I thought it was just terrible. But, for some reason, its started to grow on me, and I really don't mind it anymore.

Because of Clayface's example of his opinion of Tick's live action mask changing, I'm gonna wait til I see it in action before I form mine, just to be sure.

Still, I can understand why people don't like it, as we flashback to The Tick's first episode.....

"No costume, friend. I am, simply, The Tick!"

True. It was just a small niggle, but from what I've heard it's all pretty faithful to the cartoon. Wait and see, won't I? :p

the tick is a very good cartoon is very good but to say its the best is stretching it. their are just to many old school cartoons like the jetsons and the flintstones and scooby to say its the very best but i would have to agree it was a very good cartoon.:p

Hmmm. Anyone noticing a trend with with Mxy here? In just about every post I've been following, everytime someone says some show is great, or one of the best, Mxy has to pop his head in and say it isn't. I think Mxy is becoming a bit to much like his namesake! ;)

James Harvey

...then we may have some problems. :)

Clayface

Nahhhh. I doubt Mxy is trying to cause any problems - I just thought it was sort of funny.

Hehehehe. Does that mean you've got your very own Arkham to throw 'em in if they do go "nutso"? :D

LOL! Arkham: The place for banned Crazies. Hmmm...that does have a nice ring to it. Actually, we have an Arkham section planned for WF sometime in the near future.
