You just stepped into a big fat pile of New. I hope you're proud of yourself.

And Groovenians debuts, which should be interesting.

Quick Edit by Matt Williams: Groovenians debuted tonight, and we have two comment threads going: this and the one for questions and comments aimed for director Jordan Reichek. We want to keep the Groovenians-specific thread clean of hatred for the special, so keep any posts that basically say "this sucked" out of there. However, if you feel the need to bash, moan, and say how bad it was, feel free to let loose in here.

Just needed to patch this up.

I think I should post Pendlehurst's little "prison guard" speech in the FAQ. :p

Almost looked like they had a new style of animation in that beginning scene. I guess they sharpened it somehow.

Groovians:

Hmm... Something about that generic Cartoon Network logo in the corner bugs me.

I'm not liking what I'm seeing, but it's not too far into the show.

Home Movies-I hate to say this but...Melissa's hot.I mean REAL hot.

As for the episode,it was good. It's no Shore Leave, but what is.Mcgurk was great but kept to only a few scenes.Same for Paula.Pendlehurst got tiring after a while.

BTW,H Jon Benjamin also does Jason's voice!I was amazed when I saw that.

B+

Groovenians-The previews have made this look real dumb, saw the TVG logo, the crappy animation, switched the channel

The only enjoyable thing that has happened so far was the Inu-Yasha commercial. And the 8 Crazy Nights commercial.

Home Movies: Eh...it was alright. The prison guard was so lame. I was contantly thinking of comebacks till i realized that it was a cartoon and that i need a life. McGurk was great. The scared stright thing was great, so veary true. I've always hated those "Scared Stright" specials. Anyways it got a few laughs....p.s. Did anyone noticed the "Jesus" thing? That made "Sweet Jesus" look TV-Y
Final Grade: B

Groovenians: Uhh.....huh......yeah...........computer animation.........cheezy music.....
Final Grade: Uhhh.....
EDIT: I thought the dog "Dolphin" was kinda funny

Sealab 2021: It was good, GLEEP!!! I liked Murphys name for him. He was able to put peoples thought about Gleep into words with one name. The final scene was great............Gleep Gundam (all though it really wasent a Gundam persay)

ATHF: GREAT!!!! The return of our second favirote outter space. The final scene was great. Althought Carl played a small roll it was well played......"I hate you"...I think i smell a Moonites VS Pluto.......German guys Comeing on
Final Grade: A+

Groovenians-WTF were the creator smoking when they made this because it just looks like the visions of a pot-head in 3D. This is hardly considered AS material, I'm mean they don't even use the 3D technolagy to make the boobs jiggle.

Groovenians was pretty crappy, the show had absolutely no depth and doesn't even belong on Adult Swim in the first place. It tried to be a continuious string of cracks on society but just failed miserably all across the board.

Home Movies: I liked some of it and disliked other parts. I'm not really sure what to give it. Ok, since the end sequence was funny I'll give it a B-.

Groovenians: This looks like a show that was rejected from Liquid Television. The animation is ok and the music is almost decent, but everything else is bad. Even shows like The Oblongs, The Ripping Friends, and Baby Blues had stories. But this show?? What story? I'm not liking it at all. I now have a new show to add to the Top 5 worse shows I've seen.

Overall grade: F (this kind of animation would be better for a show based on the Playstation game "Bust A Groove"). Now are you still going to tell me that The Ripping Friends is still the worst show on AS after seeing this??

Wow, did anyone else see the commercial for Saddle Rash? Even the announcer sounded bored.

However, he didn't sound bored when he announced next weeks new Home Movies episode (which looks like it should be called "The Mcgurk Show"). This could be good.

Oh, the guy from Super Duper Sumos wrote it? No wonder why it sucked harder than a Hoover.

I can't believe I stopped watching the 8th volume of Evangelion for this....after the end credits, the "Cartoon Network Studios" logo flashed up, then I saw a commercial for the "My Real Baby" doll. What's up next - Pokemon?

Sorry guys - - I give it an F. Minus.

I just didn't get it. There was nothing really wrong with the show but it's kinda like what Hamtaro was to Toonami. It doesn't belong on Adult Swim. You got that, Chillins ?

I guess the female main character had a hot body but so did Jessica Rabbit.

The Groovenians was garbage I can't believe that crap like this shows up on adult swim.God why does cartoon network throw trash like this and the spumco shorts into adult swim.Don't they realize that the audience likes shows like sealab ,aqua teens and the brak show and other shows with the same humor level as those. We don't want to sit through a poor G rated show that dosen't have one single thing in it worth laughing about also we don't want to sit threw a living hell of those crappy spumco shorts or shows that try to be just stupid with unfunny subject matter.

As much as I hate Ripping Friends' blandness and unfunny-ness. CN just seems ripe with bad shows, first with Oblongs, then with Ripping Friends, now on with Groovenians.

At the very least I was really bored and unimpressed with Ripping Friends, but this this Groovenians just ...i think it just offended my visual and hearing senses... :(

while i agree that groovenians doesn't necessarily belong in AS, the judgements seem rather harsh.

this is a light comedy with a surreal vision that would never be shown anywhere else (save for nick). i think it's a great move for CN to back an artist's vison and showcase it.

again, i don't think AS is the best place for the debut... however, i think bashing it because of it's rating is a bit much. if this has its debut on CCF would the response be different? and if so, why?

as far as jesus-zilla & "Sweet Jesus!" goes, the tape is a parody and the word bubble is using jesus as an exclaimation - which someone at the network wasn't comfortable with.

Actually, the new voice actor for Brak's mom was credited in the last episode, but all you heard from her was a yell at the end, so you couldn't really tell.

I have a feeling that this is a permanant change. I wonder why Marsha couldn't do the job.

Groovenians: I only saw the last part of it, so I didn't hate it as much as the other people on this board seem to. I dunno, it did seem to remind me of this PS2 dancing game (the one that has that Nelly song in it? Can't remember the game's name). Anyway, for some reason the greedy normal guy reminded me of the boogy man in Nightmare Before Christmas.

Sealab 2021: Great episode! Did anyone else notice the Master Shake air fresheners on that lady's cart at the beginning of the episode? This episode had a lot of great one-liners that I'm sure we'll all be quoting for weeks to come. The strange things that stuck out was 1) Notice they blurred out the middle finger bit? Kinda makes you wonder if CN really WILL let FUNimation re-edit that one episode of Yu Yu Hakusho...2) Notice that Stormy said "Holy Bejesus!" tonight? Yet we can't see "Sweet Jesus?!?" I really wish that Cartoon Network would give this show a bigger budget, though--that fight against the Gundam Gleep thing was just atrocious-looking.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Another great episode. I was laughing so hard when I saw the Major/Mister Shake replicant. And you know what else I noticed? It seems that, as of this season, THAT ANNOYING NARRATOR IS GONE!!!!!!! This is the second episode in a row where he hasn't come in and ruined the show, and I'll be so happy if this is a permanent change.

The Brak Show: Wow, an episode of the Brak Show where we don't see Brak for the last five minutes? Cool! Unfortunately, Dad wasn't enough to pull this show out of the rut it's been in lately, and I'm afraid that I'm going to start skipping this show altogether. And I don't think I need to mention the Mom thing.

JTurner954

CactusJack1999, do you like The Ripping Friends??

Brak Show: Maybe the show will have fun with the voice change of the mother. The episode was at the same level as tonight's ATHF. I hope Weird Al makes another album. It's been 3 years already. Overall grade: C

Home Movies - Funny as heck. It's time to pay the price .

Groovians - Was ok, but why on ASC? I hope that 10:30 slot isn't going be a habitual place to air just anything in an attempt to protect the Cartoon cartoon slots or Kids WB rejects...

Sealab - Also funny as heck.

ATHF - Funny as hell, my personal favorite.

Why am I not being so descriptive? Frankly, because I don't feel like it.

Later.

Maybe it's just my dirty mind, but based off the characters' reaction and the Gloop going to a heart shape afterwards I don't think that was a middle finger...if you catch my drift.

Review Time!

Home Movies: This was hillarious. That one teacher was a real butthead and it was so funny because it reminds me so much of teachers at my school. Jesus-zilla? Okay that's kinda funny but those CN censors are gonna have alot of explaining to do regarding Rejected. The best thing to do is play Rejected sometime in January or whenever open (maybe in place of Ripping Friends).
Anyway... Grade: A

The Groovenians: Guess what? I'm now one of the different ones... I didn't hate it. The only reasons I could see this being an Adult Swim show is the same reason the game Space Channel 5 is rated Teen (these two are alot alike!) They have sexually suggestive appearances, Glinda or whatever her name is with the short skirt and the RuPaul played character with her third boob a la Total Recall. It wasn't really funny but I kind of had the same feeling watching this as I do with Courage the Cowardly Dog, visual fest and pretty artistic. I like Courage much better, but if Groovenians was played at a better time, it could be an okay show.
Grade: B

Sealab 2021: This show was great! The gleeps kept me laughing!
Grade: A

ATHF: I didn't like the first episode with those mooninite wanna-bes too much, but this one was hillarious. The immitation-shake was also great. Plus the return of Carl!
Grade: A

The Brak Show: While Brak isn't ruined, it will be weird watching it now, but I'll probably adjust now that Brak's mom is British. I thought that was going to be a joke or something. More Dad, Zorak, and Thundercleese. It sounds like they were trying to fill some people's demands (well for most part). So far, a great night.
Grade: A

SGC2C: Gonna make this short. Great episode, seen it before.
Grade: A

Switched to Gary and Mike at this point... see ya later.

Home Movies- this was a great episode. That Mr. Pendleton reminded me exactly of the detention guy at my old high school. I also liked how the episode was kind of like a clip show episode except it was not stale material it was all new stuff so that was also cool. I think this might now be my favorite episode.
A+

Grooverians- ...
D--

Sealab- another great episode. The gleeps were entertaining but I noticed this episode didnt end in the total destruction of sealab but I guess that is what happens when Howlig Mad Murphy's madness is taken care of properly.
A

ATHF- I liked this one about as much as the first stupid invaders epiosde. which was pretty good. I liked the whole video phone conversation. The only part better was how the replecant was smarter then the two that spawned him... great stuff
A

Brak Show- what the hell happened to mom... my biggest problem with this episode is the fact that BRAK was in the credits longer then in the eposode. weird Al sort of saved this episode but not really...
D+ or C-

SGC2C- I watched this one while finishing up modern physics work that didnt really get done but I saw enough to see that it wasnt the best epiosde but by far not the worst.
B-

Home Movies - Wow, this was the best episode we've had in months, best one since that one where Jason and Brendan got fat. The movies part (was this an actual clip show, or were they new? I've only started watching this season) was nothing special, but I liked the prison segment. Having all those psychotic criminals talk to them was hilarious :D
Grade: B+

Groovenicrap - The absolute worst show to ever air on Adult Swim. Yes, even worse than Pilot Candidate. Boring as hell, and definately not something that should be on a 'mature' block of programming.
Grade: F

The Ripping Friends: Second best show of the night. Ripping Friends vs. a guy that rips gas. LOL. Good release (no pun intended) after the smart kind of comedy Home Movies does.

This once again proves that the animation matches the material (that's why this show is good and Groovenians isn't). Very funny episode. Not the best episode, but still pretty funny. When you guys learn that this show is spoofing superheros in general (and how ridiculous it could be), you'll actually know why this show is good. Overall grade: B

They have forever screwed up The Brak Show.

Isn't the Brak show suppost to be screwed up?

Anyway, the BSnP is probably just using the entire "Sweet Jesus" because they don't want it shown at all but they said they would let it air, then had second thoughts, and thought up a new reason to block it from airing.

I'm guessing "bejeezus" is technically its own word. As I've said before, I really have seen stuff like "for Christ's sake" edited out on other, more adult-oriented cable networks, so I guess it really isn't just an excuse.

The Brak Show: I loved it! From the looks of these first two episodes of the season, I really think the show is taking off. It's much more consistently funny, with less of those awkward moments. I think the funniest part was probably the "mango juice" line, at the end of Dad's song, because it came out of nowhere.
Yes, it's kinda hard to adjust with Brak's mom having the British accent, but... it's not like she was ever really important. It's the other characters who say most of the funny stuff, so I don't think her delivery/accent will affect the show much, if at all.

Space Ghost: Coast to Coast
Seen it before, very good. Did anyone else notice that Bob and David weren't really together? Look really closely -- the lighting is slightly different and it looks weird when they overlap. I have no idea why this was done. They really seemed to be interacting...

About the Sweet Jesus thing...

Remember, this is Kellner we're dealing with now, not the BS&P. He might be pissed off about Sweet Jesus, but I'm guessing he doesn't like Rejected because of everything, meaning the blood and violence, as well as Sweet Jesus and the general attitude of the short.

hahaha... Sealab was priceless...

I'm suprised nobody's talked about how when they are walking down the hall with the flameguns that the woman says she needs ammo and the Wolfenstein ammo symbol appears above her head. That right there was priceless.

Also, the "Gundam Murphy" was no Gundam, that is a direct rip of Fortress Maximus from Transformers. That right there was the best moment ever in Sealab for me... absolutely perfect.

One of my favorite episodes so far, but not quite up there with Der Dieb.

Time To Pay The Price - So THAT was the revelation from Brendon's movies? That they ALL end the same way? Wha? I thought it'd be something like how he hates Paula or something. I don't know. Anyway, it was nice not seeing Walter and Perry for a week, although the bank robber made up for them VERY nicely. But, when was going on school propery on a weekend trespassing? Maybe it's cause I went to Catholic school with "playgrounds" that didn't have any gates on them or something that I never noticed it. Oh well. A

The Groovenians - Well...that was...wow... I'll admit I missed a bit of it after the commerical getting something to drink, but, from waht I did see...I don't know WHAT I think of it. It just felt like it was the first half hour of something that NEEDED to be an hour long. I didn't HATE it though, it jsut left me ... unfullfilled. Maybe I was just expecting something different, this jsut didn't really seem to have much of anything to it. Oh well. :\ C+

Sealab 2021

Hail Squishface - Whoa, what happened here? It was like, last week didnt' even really happen or something. VERY nice ep though. Nice to see them actually use some stuff from Herculoids, and in some Gremlins/Aleins style. Nice to see the doctor again. A

Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Bad Replicant - Seriously, this is the best friggin' epiosde sicne Ol' Drippy. I didn't even really like the Pluto guys, but now, geez, this was CRAZY. Now we NEED an epiosde of these guys vs. the Mooninties. A+++

The Brak Show

Home Movies: Alright. I thought the prison guard thing wasn't funny, but the Scared Straight and "It's Time to Pay the Price" made up for it.
Rating: B+

Grooveians: Well, I watched this. When they got to the talking tree, i had a brain tumor and collasped and had psychedelic visions, which were not that different from the show itself.
Rating: F

Sealab 2021: When I awoke, Sealab was on. Everyone seems to be mentioning Rejected remarks; I noticed that they were growing kelp. That might be in relation (Kelp Dip). I don't know. Anyways, the episode was, as always, good. I thought I was the only one who noticed the ammo sign.
Rating: A

ATHF: I loved these guys in their first episode, and this one was even better. Good to see Carl again. For the second week in a row, a person got out of character when Frylock told Meatwad, "Shut up. Damn." Couldn't really blame him, though.
Rating: A+

Brak Show: Why, it was a jolly olde romp, it was! The episode was alright, however I wanted to throw a shoe at the TV screen whenever Mom talked. I think that by changing the voice, they've changed the character. Weird Al was well used.
Rating: C+

SGC2C: Having never seen this one before, I loved it! Bob & David really seemed to know how to be interviewed, which was a nice change from last week's Jeff Foxworthy. Any real reason it was called Gallagher? Or is it the classic Space Ghost weird humor?
Rating: A+

Not wanting to subject myself to the ripping friends, I switched up one channel to Comedy Central's Gary and Mike.

Gary and Mike: Had it's moments. The one who had to keep his arms on the car was a lot more entertaining than the guy who went out with the Southern Girl.
Rating: C

Didn't feel like watching the Oblongs. Are they planning on making new episodes, or is this second run pretty much the last time?

And thus ends my first post....Hello, folks! If you're reading this, you were most likely looking for the first post I ever did. And guess what? You've found it! =D

Ah, I was such a n00b back in these days, long before my "glory" as a moderator/webmaster (if you will). I don't even agree with half of my reviews, here...didn't like Pendlehurst? That guy was classic! And that Sealab episode...whoa, way too kind with my grading there. *Sigh* Haven't seen Gary & Mike in so long, either. =(

Well, just adding this little spoiler. All the rest of the post is left perfectly in tact, including my "And thus ends my first post..." at the end. Perhaps someday you can achieve my glory...

*sigh* I live a sad life.

Home Movies: This one just wasn't fast enough for me. Not nearly as many good lines as a lot of other episodes in recent memory. There's nothing positive about Pendlehurst. At all. The actual moments of the scared straight program were good, as was McGuirk's "No man!" bit, as was most of the snippets of the movies. The lights going on and off during detention gave me epileptic fits. And I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned already: The warden wasn't supposed to be McGuirk? The warden sounded more like McGuirk than McGuirk sometimes does. Not to mention had the exact same silhouette (with a hat). More jokes were needed here, so I'm going with C+

Grooveians: Alright, this one's gotten way too much crap. I already posted my comments in the special thread, but c'mon - it's not worth all this hatred. Have you all forgotten this used to be the Ripping Friends time slot? This time around I got to watch the entire block until Space Ghost and then play a game of hockey on PS2. That's a good thing.

Sealab 2021: This one was actually more conceptually funny than joke-funny, and pulled it off really well. Good stuff, although there's a lot less recycled animation in this season, which is sort of a weird transition. A great Sealab altogether, I'm just more used to insanity along the lines of killer robots with metal teeth and corporate execs dancing to Fett's Vette when I think of this show. Yeah, I'm going A-/B+ here.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: I actually liked the other Plutonian episode better, but this one wasn't sucky by any means. Nothing stands out in my mind though, positive or negative - although the Shake clone was charming. I'm giving a C- here as well.

Brak Show: Well, for whatever reason they switched Mom's - they could have just thrown a joke in there to explain it away. I mean, when Crow got a different voice, they at least did something for it. I spent half the cartoon waiting for a punchline for the very very British mom, and it wasn't delivered. I just can't see Posh Mom saying "Cause I'm a gamer, pal!" And I like UHF, but after that - I can't stand Weird Al anymore. Getting him as vocal talent is like saying "And this album has a hidden track from Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music!" God, that voice is annoying. Sorry Brak, D for you.

Space Ghost: I've actually never seen this one before, and there's some voice out there that wants me to see an unhealthy amount of David Cross lately (Mr Show live, ATHF, Conan, now this). And as much as I love seeing David Cross anyway (his segment on Conan was hilarious), interviewing him and Bob Odenkirk together always is golden. They're so cute. So uhm... a high B+

Then I played NHL Hitz. It was quite fun.

Sealabs was good tonight thanks to the parody of Alien 2, those little blob things eating the operator guy(forgot his name), and Murphy being torched twice (I love it when Murphy gets screwed).

5/5 for Sealab tonight just because Murphy gets torched in the end.

ATHF was hilarious tonight, although I wish the aliens would have been smarter to actually hurt Shake, though. And maybe permanently replaced Shake with that other freak shake (but of course, without Shake you'll only have the boring Frylock and the pathethic excuse for a meat, Meatwad..sigh... I really hate Shake).
On the plus side, this time Carl's car gets stolen by a freak shake with a straw as a hand...it's quite hilarious if you think about it.
Tonight's dialogues just have to be one of the funniest in ATHF.
5/5 for tonight's ATHF.

Brak had some good moments because there's no Brak anywhere to be seen although I miss that weird annoying bug guy. Dad was funny as usual being his usual self and his banter with the robot freak and that petrolium guy was quite funny as well. The only thing that really bugs me was Mom's voice.
I know she's not the main feature of the show, but it's just eerie to have someone so different and out of character with the usual mom.
Oh well, 3.5/5 for tonight's Brak because of Mom.

Home Movies: Great, A+

Groovenians: Ugh....I have never seen anything so terrible in all my life. I didn't even crack a smile at this Sure, it was pretty, but thats all it had going for it. I am totally dissapointed that WS would give us G-rated crap like this to watch. F-

Sealab 2021: YES!!! Excllent episode. Anytime Murphy gets to show off how insane he is, is a good thing. A++
SPARKS: Damn little stink blob.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: It was alright. The best parts were the Created in God's image dialoge and Carl. B

BTW: I heard them use GOD three times tonight. Two of them were exclamations.

Brak Show: It was good. I hate Brak, but we only saw him once so I liked it. Dad vs.Thundercleese is great stuff. I don't care for the VA that was doing Brak's mom though. I hate it when they switch actors on me. A-

THUNDERCLEESE: I've liberated your swine. HA! How does that grab you?

Zorak: I lie alot. That's what makes me cool.

Overall I would ave given it a higher rating, but Groovenians just screwed the whole block up. B-

Sealab: Eh. I don't know why, but I just haven't been that amused by the new episodes. Plus, I think it's way too early for the show to be referencing itself, and when it's done on a consistent basis, it just annoys me. Some funny parts. (C)

ATHF: Lots of good lines, but overall it was average. Emory and Oglethorpe were much funnier the first time they appeared, but they were still good. (B)

Brak: Whoa. Brak's mom is......bri'ish. Whoa. (B)

Space Ghost: I'm a huge fan of Bob and David, but I've never seen this episode before. It was............FANTASTIC!!! Seriously, they were hilarious. They kind of seemed to dominate the episode--they were so funny, that it almost made Space Ghost not funny or something. (A+)

As for the Groovenians, it's just aimed at a younger audience. The question is: Why is CN putting these shows on AS? I think they are doing it because they know people will watch it if they put it in the middle of AS rather than at like Wednesday night at 10:30. It's stupid though, because yeah, we watch the specials, but it's because we're in the middle of watching shows aimed at adults. Gripe.

Home Movies: I really enjoyed this episode. A much focused episode than prior episodes which had mulitple stories going on. the clip montage toward the end was priceless, especially the rap video multi-parody. 9.3/10

Groovienians: Well, I wasn't feeling it that much, but I will note that my parents seemed to enjoy it. Maybe they are looking at some stuff for the older adult crowd, I dunno. 7.7/10.

Sealab 2021: Gloops used as tribbles/gremlins/alien parody. How could that not be funny? 9.4/10

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Better than the first german alien episode, because they had a intelligent foil to their stupidity in clone shake. The scene with Meatwad and Frylock was also very funny. 9.5/10

Home Movies- Liked McGuirk's out burst,Jesus-zilla and the hole "Time to pay the price".B

Groovenians- Didn't watch it But from what most of you said I guess I didn't miss anything special.

Sealab- Attack of the gloops! Murphy gone craze and his whole gloop suit at the end nuff said. and yeah I also saw the ammo sign. A+

ATHF- though not anywhere as great as the Mooninites those dumb Pluto guys are ok.I liked that "Major Shake" and the Disco stuff.great to see Carl again. and Frylock to meatwad- "Shut Up,Damn". B+

The Brak Show- Had alot of stuff: Dad,Thundercleese,Weird AI,Zorak and the stolen Tank, and Brak wasen't seen in it for most of the whole episode. the catch- Mom's new voice...ugh.

Home Movies: Another winner. Not much on plot, but all the little gems added up for a great episode. These include all the movie spoofs, the flickering lights, McGurk's big freak-out, the bank robber guy, and so on.

Groovinians: I don't really think it's the festering pile that everyone's making it out to be, but it did have some flaws. This could work as a series if a: they explore the planet some more. It's supposed to be this amazing, wonderful place, and they spend most of the time in the apartment? b: tone down the psychodelics a little, and c: up the humor. I thought this was supposed to have a ton of pop culture references. Where were they? A healthy dose of more screwball humor and a little less faux-hipster slang could go a long way. Until then, I'll file this one under "not bad."

Sealab: I have a feeling lines from this episode will end up in people's signatures in the near future. One great bit of dialogue after another. Maybe its just me, but are the visuals improving on this show? There seemed to be a lot more movement and interaction between characters than usual. I have to admit last week's episode was a slight misfire, but this week shows it's still on track.

ATHF: What a blast! This was one of the funniest Dr. Weird openings they've done so far. I was skeptical about bringing back the Neptune guys, but they were hilarious. Can we expect to see less of Carl throughout the rest of this season?

Brak: Really, I don't see what all of you are complaining about. This was easily the funniest episode of Brak I've ever seen. Possibly the funniest episode of tonight's block. I must have laughed out loud about 30 times or more. I've always liked this show, but it definetly gets the "most improved" award for these new eps. (And I thought Dad's line about dying as a virgin was very interesting. I've always had this sneaky suspicion that he's not really Brak's father, and this seemed to confirm it.)

Space Ghost: A very funny episode, if only for the fact that he had guests who can keep up with the interview, instead of just sitting there looking confused by SG's questions.

Skipped the rest in favor of a syndicated Buffy repeat on the local Fox channel. (It's the one where Buffy fights the cute robot chick, in case you were wondering.)

Home Movies: I have to say, they missed a big opportunity by not bringing Walter and Perry to the jail. Maybe that would have been too easy. Loved the Mad Max parody at the start. B.

Groovenians: OK, I can understand re-making He-Man and Transformers into slick new cartoons, but did we really need a new Galaxy High?

Wait, that wasn't Galaxy High? Oh well, at least it's good to see that the fat delivery guy from the "Money for Nothing" video can still find work. D.

Sealab: When your fart joke ratio exceeds 30 per minute, it's time to hang it up. D.

ATHF: Funny episode. I'm not sure why the aliens are named after universities in Atlanta, but then again, nothing else on this show makes sense either. B.

Brak: Why not change Moms? Less of a deal than changing Darrins. Weird Al has a great voice, and I don't think the animation was able to stretch to his level of emotion. C.

Home Movies: Funny as hell. And the conversation at the end about "life being the real prison" was somewhat profound.

Sealab & ATHF were hilarious and full of great quoatables. Especially ATHF. That had to be like the funniest ever. I loved it when out of nowhere Frylock told Meatwad to shut up.

The Gloop suit design was based on Fortress Maximus, not Megatron. The sqare, asymetrical sections on each side of the chest, the pair of hip cannons, and the horns on the head (Fort Max's are smaller, but he does have them) are telltale signs of the inspiration for the suit's designs.

HOME MOVIES
Time To Pay The Price
This one was decent, but I've seen much, much better out of Home Movies. The highlights were McGuirk's rant (which made me dread the episode when I saw it in the previews, but in the context of the episode it was quite funny) and Paula's revisiting of Brendon's old movies, which nicely avoided the same old "flashback episode" hole by showing new scenes from the old movies. I especially enjoyed the new sequence from "Starboy and the Captain of Outer Space." The rest of the episode was kinda bland, the laughs were few and far between.
Overall: C+

THE GROOVENIANS
Bland. Just plain bland. And by the way, just in case anyone is wondering- I WAS high, and no, it didn't make it any more enjoyable. That's saying something.

SEALAB 2021
The Trouble with Squishface
Not bad, Murphy's Squishface-suit was definitely the payoff to the episode as far as I was concerned. Still, "The Trouble with Tribbles" has been knocked off so many times that it's really old hat by now, I expected more from Sealab.
Overall: C-

AQUA TEEN HUNGERFORCE
This is a pretty good one, I really enjoy the antics of our extremely stupid alien friends. It makes me wonder what our caveman ancestors would think if a group of dumb high schoolers in a VW Beetle were able to travel back in time. Clearly the very stupid dregs of a very advanced society. (-:

Home Movies: I saw most of it, and it was an ok episode. I liked McGuirk when he went crazy and the way they always ended their movies

Groovenians: I liked it. I liked the animation, music(the doorbell), and the dog. But heck, if adults laugh from it, I think if fullfuled its duties on Adult Swim(I'm not an adult by the way)

Sealab 2021: This has got to be one of the best episodes I have seen. Those Gloops farting constantly were funny. "They seem to do it when they are angry, threatened, or whenever" LOL

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Another great one, I wasn't expecting those aliens so soon. I liked it at the end when the Shake replicant needed a pipe to jack Carls car.

Brak SHow: From what I saw, it was an ok episode.

Space Ghost: I liked this episode a lot

Ripping Friends: Fell a sleep half way through, but I liked where it was going

Oblongs: I was a sleep but I've seen this before, I liked this a lot too.

The creatures themselves are a direct reference to gleep and gloop from herculoids. The part with the gloops mulitpling at rapid speed is in reference to Star Trek's tribble episode. The whole "do not feed it liqour" bit struck me as gremlins reference (don't feed it after midnight) and the hunt was somewhat like aliens. Basically, it's several parodies in one.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Emory and Oglethorpe return and another great ATHF. Words can't do justice. A+

Brak Show: Many have a problem with Mom's new voice, but i think that the great difference between Marsha and Joanna was funny. Home Movies, "Time to Pay the Price": This episode didn't really have any of the tings that the best Home Movies episodes have, and yet, I still really enjoyed it. There wasn't a real interesting plot, there wasn't any interesting charater interaction, and stories weren't really weaved together at all. But, what it did have, was a whole lot of solid comedy, and that's good enough for me. The laughs in this episode made me quickly forget about the anything the show was lacking.

As people have mentioned here, the scenes in or involving the white collar prison were great. The scared straight in bit was good (though it did get a bit old by the end), as was McGuirk's advice on being the craziest one there. McGuirk's realization that those in the white collar prison have it better than he does, and his wonderfully cliched and shallow "life is the prison" metaphor were also great.

However, I think the funniest part in this episode, which I'm surprised nobody mentioned, was the $1 binder to organize the budget. That scene of dialogue between Jason and Melissa is classic Home Movies humor.

As for the "it's time to pay the price thing"...I just didn't like it. It kind of seemed like a stupid tie between all the old movies, and, as someone said, a hidden personal connection (like the feelings for his father seen in "Brendon's Choice") would have been much better. It wouldn't have to be something "serious" like it was in "Brendon's Choice", but using one line as the connection seems kinda lame. Although, I'll admit, them struggling to find a way not to say it at the end was funny.

This was just a funny, entertaining episode, plain and simple. It's lack of a solid story keep it from standing out as one of the best, but as far as laughs go, this one had plenty. (Including the brief Public Enemy parody...priceless!)

"The Groovenians": Well, I think there might be a little more to this than most people give it credit for. That's not to say I enjoyed it, as I really didn't, but I think there was enough here to merit a special airing.

First off, I'm still undecided about the animation style. In one sense, it's pretty "low tech" and isn't really all that appealing. But, in another sense, the originality of the style, along with a unique way of presenting fantasy worlds and characters, it's rather interesting.

Now, as for the actual content of the show...I'd say it ends up falling flat. It seems as though the show often tries to make commentary on creativity vs. conformity and the importance of being independent. However, the dull characters play this story out rather balndly (a contrast to the wild backgrounds) and end up taking away any enjoyment that the themes could have provided. Overall, I'd say it was a good idea, and certainly a noble effort, but that it ultimately fell short of being entertaining.

Sealab 2021, "Hail Squishface": I haven't really liked many of the recent Sealab episodes, but this one rekindled my love of the show.

There were a couple of problems. The plot and the parodies were all really obvious, but, luckily, they avoided making the story boring by going through all the parts we knew were going to happen very quickly. Murphy is told not to give the gloop alcohol, so, instead of "building up to it" they show him washing it in alcohol in the next scene. Well done. Also, some of the fart stuff was over-used, but I thought they showed good restraint by not just using easy "fart jokes."

There were a number of really great comedic moments that make this one memorable. The alien parody, while obvious, was well done, the highlight being the "I need ammo" bit, which was awesome; it gave me a big laugh. Having Stormy in charge of the radar was pretty funny, as well. And finally, while it got a little old, I found myself laughing at many of the fart/stink jokes, particularly Quinn's explanation as to why they fart. (Oh, the ending was really good, too; Funny and different.)

This was definitely the best out of the last few new ones.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force, "Bad Replicant": I didn't care for Emory and Oglethorpe in their first episode (in fact, that episode was probably my least favorite ATHF episode) but this one was just great. This had some really funny moments from all the characters (with the exception of Carl, who, while funny, only appeared for a short time). Meatwad had the best line with "He made me in His image", Frylock's "Shut up. Damn." was a great change for him, and Shake's reaction to the "laser death rays" was also great. And the minor characters also had great lines with Oglethorpe's realization that Frylock saw them talking to replicant Shake, "Dammit! The fry man saw us!" and replicant Shake's "No, I know, I'm hideous" response to Meatwad's staring was good.

Lots and lots of great lines here; I hope they can keep the quality comin'. One concern I have, though, is that they'll keep "recycling" old characters. We thought the Mooninites were a one time thing, then they came back. We thought Emory and Oglethorpe were a one time thing, then they came back. I hope they're not doing this because they're stuck on ideas.

The Brak Show, "The Fued": I wasn't really able to see most of this episode, but I did catch the beginning and end. Based on what I saw, it seemed okay. I really liked the "Doghouse Charlie" strip the Dad was reading that went from making lame jokes in the pool to a leading a Communist revolution. The only other thing I really saw enough to comment on is the new voice of Brak's Mom. I'm like most others, didn't really like it, and (if this is permanent) it'll be hard to adjust to. We'll have to see how it plays out.

Space Ghost: C2C, "Gallagher": What can I say? It's one of my favorite episodes, and most who watch Space Ghost have seen it a dozen times. But this is one that doesn't show it's age and continues to be entertaining all the way through. This is because, as people have said, Dave and Bob seem to be some of the few guests who "get" Space Ghost and how the interviews work. Great stuff.

I missed the Ripping Friends and the Oblongs, so I can't comment. Overall, this was a great night for ASC, and even if you hated the Groovenians, there was still plenty of great comedy to meet your needs.

As most things in Sealab tend to be. Although the whole "do not feed it liquor" thing is more likely another reference to "Trouble with Tribbles" as the Tribbles don't multiply unless they're fed. Of course, you could argue that Gremlins was nothing but one big "Trouble with Tribbles" reference (or ripoff, depending on where you stand) so it probably doesn't matter that much in the long run.

Home Movies: Above average. Plenty of funny moments, I especially liked the prison guard teacher's stupidity and the binder bit. "Hey, nice binder"

Groovenians: Whooo. This made me WISH I did drugs. Okay I suppose, very different from everything else on the AS block.

Sealab: Loved it. Absolutely priceless. For the record, fart jokes ARE funny.

Aqua Teens: Quite good. Not happy time harry-caliber, but funny. Clone shake and the disco references were great. "the manual said lasers.. and I believed it"

God... the Groovenians...

It was actually the worst thing I've ever seen on television. Most of the 1-man projects on TechTV's Eye Drops has better animation, and don't make me want to send CN hate-mail. So how can a team of people do so much worse?

It more than didn't belong on AS, it didn't even belong on CN. It should've played on Nick Jr or something, where it might've been appreciated.

Home Movies -

Hysterical, Loved McGuirk, and the movie flashbacks, the kids were especially outright funny to me. A+

Groovienians (or however you spell it) *very surreal* Liked in somewhat..mostly visually, needed funnier, less goofy script.

C+

Sealab - Funny and childish all at once ..loved the Smoo knockoffs...the new undersea Tribble.

B+

ATHF - Not nuts about Emory and Oglethorpe the first time, but liked them better in this episode which was better than the first. What's with the run on depressingly amusing characters this season? Too funny.

B-

Went to bed and missed Oh Canada! Damn!

Groovenians D+ Not much of a plot and it advanced at a snails pace. The computer animation did not appear to be very high quality is not a good example of the art. The musical scene with the tax robots was drab and uninspired. The villians in musicals typically have good singing voices as well. Considering they have some pop talent in the production, they should at least use some of it. Overall there isn't much artistic or entertainment value to this show.

Sealab B+ A parody of many different movies and TV shows.

ATHF B- Good laughs in the beginning, but got less interesting further in the episode. The shake's clone was funnier than the two aliens.

Whoo boy, a whole lot of new!

Home Movies: The prison plot was funny enough, but the montage at the end was hilarious. Anyone catch the X-Men ref?
A

The Groovenians: Uuum....I don't know what to think. I liked the first half a bit, but after the break, it really seemed to drop in quality. It was really weird that Cartoon Network bothered to get celeb voices for this when it's hardly special. I did find the money song strangely amusing, and I'm dying for an MP3 of the catchy B-52-performed theme song. And was King Norman's head SUPPOSED to resemble the Xbox logo?
D

Sealab: The beginning was funny, the middle was hilarious, and when Murphy burst out dressed like a Transformer, my brother and I cried from laughing so hard. A classic.
A+

ATHF: Funny as well. One thing: I didn't catch if the clone Shake was killed or not when he crashed the car. Did he live? If so, we could see him again....And yes, I'd like to see these aliens meet the Mooninites.
B+

Brak: WHOA! What happened to Marsha Crenshaw? Brak's Mom sounds way too different! And I was thrilled to hear Weird Al in this. He did a great job.

Brak Show: Well, for whatever reason they switched Mom's - they could have just thrown a joke in there to explain it away.

They did, in the previous week's episode, the one about the rap contest. Dad was reading the paper at the table and there was an article about Mom being away at a spa on a much needed vacation--or something. I thought it was rather strange to have an episode w/out Mom. The new lady was mentioned in the credits last week, as well...

Now the new mom with the British accent. Did anyone notice that she was kind of snippy, as well?

I like the old Mom. This one, to me, is Brak's fake mom. She had a sweet voice with a calm disposition. This new one sounds like a Brit who's gone a while w/out some lovin'. What the hell did they do to her at that spa?! ;)

Sealab 2021: Farting is cool. So was the sexy Asian gal...

ATHF: A much needed sequel! I love how the Pluto guys come off as so technologically advanced, then try to blame all the disco junk on "The Installer." The Fake Shake was awesome, too. I dunno why everyone *****es about Master Shake being a jerk... I think he gives balance to the ATHF crew. There's the intelligent Frylock who holds the fort down, the lovable yet naive Meatwad, and the mean, trouble-causing Master Shake. If it wasn't for him, I don't think that the story lines would be as funny. Especially in the Carl department.

Went to bed and missed Oh Canada! Damn!

Does anybody actually stay up to watch that? I was taping one night... maybe week before. I taped all of that crappy O Canada. Then, while reviewing my tape, I ran into something that reminded me of Joe's Apartment, called Juke Bar. Anyone know what the deal with that is?

HomeMovies: never watch it

Grooveians: I knida like it, I loved the art style and the "look" of the show, but it was kinda slow paced and not handled right, if the couple had arrived on the groove planet as not complete weirdos already and slowly started to adopt the weirdo lifestyle based on their new weirdo roommates, it would have made more sence. the tree freaked me out C+

Sealab: good God this was funny, I noticed the ammo thing but since I've never played Wolfenstein I didn't get the joke. the farts were getting kind of annoying, but kind of cute too. I dunno. A+

ATHF: I hated these Plutonians he first time I saw them, they were only slightly more inspired this time, "major" Shake was pretty funny, but no Happy Time Harry or Ol' Drippy. Meatwad takes the cake with his comment about God creating him in his own image. what was the name of theat Disco ball again? C+

Brak Show: I loved this one, this show works best when it sticks to its Sitcom Parody permise instead of going off in weird tangents (but the show does that anyway :D ) I got used to Mom's new voice kinda quickly, it adds a new level of smart/sassy to her, but Martha Crenshaw was still better. Weird Al was awesome, I feel bad that I forgot he was in this one and my bro (less a fan than me) caught it by the voice. Knowing Weird al is known for being quite clean , it was kinda odd to hear him asking for naked Ladies and saying "hell yeah" a bunch of times, I've never heard any kind of curse from him before. A

SGC2C: Seen it before, but barely remeber it, it was funny I guess B+

Riping Friends: see Homemovies
Oblongs: too late to watch, not worth taping

Maybe it's just my dirty mind, but based off the characters' reaction and the Gloop going to a heart shape afterwards I don't think that was a middle finger...if you catch my drift.

It's not just you, and the fact that it was directly between Debbie's...

GROOVEIANS - I don't get all the vitriol slung at this. Though it did have a flaw or two, I liked it, ultimately. I can't judge it on the TVG or whether it belongs on AS or not; just on the actual content.

SEALAB - I can't stand body function humor, which ruined this one for me. I would've loved it without that element, though.

ATHF - Good one. The Shake clone was LOL, especially the 1st time you see him.

BRAK - Liked this one alot. However, I, too, didn't like Mom having a new voice. Suddenly 'British'? Looks like she's got Madonna's Disease!

Like I just did, they should've had a joke about it on the show. Her explained abscence last week wasn't enough. And making the joke be her unexplained change doesn't work, either; it just looks like they're being sloppy.

I can imagine how it could've been done:

In opening kitchen sequence, Dad breaks the regular dialogue with:

DAD: "Hey, Mother, something's different about you, but I cannot place it. Hmmm..."

MOM: "Nothing's wrong, dear, finish your paper."

DAD: " Wait aminute! ...HEY! You sound...foreign!"

MOM: "That's dotty, dear."

DAD: "You're a foreigner! You sound.... (accusatory)Foreigner!"

(Completely oblivious, of course, to his own accent :D )

Later, mid show, in some scene woth Mom and Zorak in it:

ZORAK (out of nowhere, to Mom): "Eh, wot, gov'na." (back to business, no further comment)

Then, at the very end of episode:

BRAK(to Mom, complete nonsequitor): "Ma, why are you British?"
END

I can really see them doing this.

SGC2C - Always good to see the Mr. Show guys. I've always loved how Bob Odenkirk enjoyed being blasted. LOL.

RF - John K's patented body function humor after the Sealab ep was too much; I tuned out partway.

I'm a John K fan in spite of that sort of thing.
