View Full Version : Tentative Adult Swim New Years Eve schedule

Sorry, ASA fans (and technically, ASC fans too). This schedule is a bit of a downer. They need to stick some Home Movies in there, at least, and where the hell is Space Ghost?! And the Birdman reruns.. WHY?!
But it's tentative to change, and I hope some of it does. It IS still a month away, so they have plenty of time to change it. I kind of wish they just ran a poll, like Toonami's marathon did.
But then again, if they DID run a poll, we'd probably see almost the same exact schedule. Unless ASA fans were to stuff it or something.
The most logical decision, I would think, would be to air Futurama #1 because the pilot takes place on.. you guessed it, New Years Eve.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 31ST
11:00 - Aqua Teens - #13: Dumber Dolls
11:15 - Harvey Birdman - #3: Shaggy Busted
11:30 - The Brak Show - #2207: Feud
11:45 - Sealab 2021 - #19: Bizarro
12:00 - Aqua Teens - #15: Bad Replicant
12:15 - Harvey Birdman - #6: The Dabba Don
12:30 - The Brak Show - #2203: President Dad
12:45 - Sealab 2021 - #?!?!(I have no idea) - Tinfins
1:00 - Aqua Teens - #8: Revenge of the Mooninites
1:15 - Harvey Birdman - #1: Bannon Custody Case
1:30 - The Brak Show - #2108: Psychoklahoma
1:45 - Sealab 2021 - #2: Chickmate
2:00 - Aqua Teens - #3: Bus of the Undead
2:15 - Harvey Birdman - #2: Very Personal Injury
2:30 - The Brak Show - #3: War Next Door
2:45 - Sealab 2021 - #3: I, Robot

Man, not many new shows :( Not any ASA shows either :( :(

Oh, no. Adult Swim Comedy New Years' Eve? Kind of a downer for many fans, especially when recent years perked up things somewhat. Like last year's Toonami segment of the "New Years' Evil" special block, when, as a just-growing-to-enjoy-it anime fan, I was proud knowing everyone finally agreed, and Majin Buu (the early chubby version not quite reformed) succeeded in the role of Fave Toonami Villain in last year's poll.
Like you said, schedules are subject to change, like just about everything else in Cartoon Network's lineup about every other week the way things are occurring. :( :bosko:

Oh well... New Year's Evil was better than this (IMHO). At least we got to see the final episode of MSG. I guess they're assuming that drunk adults can't handle (or don't want to see) action. Fast moving obects on screen might make them queasy :)

Well, that schedule certainly isn't all that one could hope. :( Given the number of shows currently airing on both blocks of AS, one would think they could give us a little more variety (not that I don't like the shows they've currently got down; it just seems to me like a schedule which was more representative of their line-up would be a good idea - especially if they want to start advertising the new weeknight schedule on New Year's Eve. You know: "Like this show? See more of it four nights a week starting January 15th - or whatever the date is")
Ah well, either the schedule will change, or I'll just go to Hogmannay after all!

At least I get to see Dumber Dolls (power was out Sunday night).

Guess it'll be okay to go partying on New Years Eve after all.

I'm just wondering why the newer stuff is around the front of the block more. I guess I can see why, but, I don't know, if it was more spread out, then maybe people would stick around on it longer. Oh well.
Since it is tentative, something that MIGHT be neat to see but probbaly wouldn't happen would be to just air the full stealth pilot eps one more time. Again, over the course of the block, but it'd still kinda cool. Of course, it's also mean we'd have to sit through Bawk-Ba-Gawk, but if it can keep people from going over to Dick Clark's tired bunch of paid drunkards being all happy to lip synching Village People, then who's benefiting here?

This is the worst Adult Swim schedule ever created. THIS IS LIKE WHAT TOONAMI IS NOW. Fortunately, it's only for one day.

I wish they gave the timeslot to Toonami, because we know they'll do something good with it.

Yeah, but judging by Toonami recently, it would be a 24-hour DBZ-a-thon. I like DBZ and all, but enough is enough. :p
Oh well, it's all tentative, so this could be just a placeholder for something really really good. :)

How about a scooby doo marathon? I think you'd ALL like it more than what they have planned by the sounds of your whining and complaining.

Well...Yeah. I'd prefer Scooby Doo to that AS schedule....

I second that Scooby Doo schedule.
Hmm....
....yep, it's dissappointing. This schedule isn't good at all. I guess I'll go to sleep early or party more or just basically do something else.

If they're going to show AS on New Year's, then CN show put in some ASA shows like Inu Yasha or Cowboy Bebop. At least make it interesting for us anime lovers!!!!!

They could air 0080, Endless Waltz, and Char's Counterattack.

No problem here, now I can tape all my favorite episodes. I do wish they would throw in a Space Ghost episode or two.

I think the problem here is that they want to show what they consider AS, and that means WS shows. If it were up to me, WS would do another round of "New Years Evil" on New Year's Eve, but I guess they think drunk people and their own ASC shows mix for this night. Oh well.
BTW: considering 2003 will be starting that night, do you think we could get "Rejected" aired?
VinceA

I was thinking the same thing (about all of the programs being WS productions) but isn't HB:AAL from another studio? I'm not 100% sure but I think it is.

And keep Endless Waltz out of AS. :/

Although I am not a fan of ASA, I think they should get some time during the marathon, possibly the 1-2 am hour, if not more. Here's how I would have done the schedule.
11:00 Sealab 2021
11:15 Aqua Teen Hunger Force
11:30 The Brak Show
11:45 Space Ghost Coast to Coast
12:00 Rejected
12:15 Night of the Living Doo (or some other special, this is just my personal favorite of the specials)
12:30 Home Movies
1:00 Inu Yasha
1:30 Cowboy Bebop
2:00 Space Ghost Coast to Coast
2:15 Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
2:30 Ripping Friends
If Rejected got yanked again, Futurama would be in the 12:00-12:30 slot, and Night of the Living Doo would replace SG:C2C at 2:00.

The reason ASA shows aren't in the New Years marathon is because CN wants to pull in the 18-34 demographic with the switch to all-ages network.
And ASA does not attract 18-34. In fact, ASA only gets about 50% of the adult viewers that ASC gets. This is a fact.

It may be true but I don't know why it's true. I don't particularly (sp?) find the WS shows to be more adult than IY & YYH. I guess it's because some adults are just more willing to watch humorous animation (feeling that it's not for kids). Years of the Simpsons might have some feeling that it's OK for adults to watch 'that kind' of 'cartoon'.
Personally I've never discriminated between animated or live-action when it comes to my entertainment. If it's entertaining, I'll watch it.
As always.... my opinion

The humor in ASC appeals to adults far greater than the teenage angst and 12-24 appeal in ASA.
Aside from Cowboy Bebop, Big O, and GITS:SAC, there's not much ASA can offer that 18-34 -would- like.
Then stick Cowboy Bebop and some episodes of Big O 1 in there or something, just to mix it up A LITTLE.

This is a very personal comment but ASA offers this 36 year old more than ASC does :)

Wow, after years of New Years Evil, I never thought Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve would be better than CN...
Guess I'll have to go to a normal New Years Party this year.
