After Fox had canceled his show Woody Woodpecker then began to live in the woods.Living only on squirrels and old midgets. Shortly afterwords Woody then went into a depression. He later began stalking Bugs Bunny and shortly afterwards murdered Scooby Doo on the next Behind the Hijinxs on VH1.

I was wondering, just what cartoon is this from? Why is Woody eating a squirrel?

The cartoon is called "The Redwood Sap". Woody is depicted as a lazy, self-centered mooch who gorges himself on the other woodland creatures' gatherings (a la "grasshopper and the ants"). This scene occurs right after the squirrel pushes a row of walnuts up the tree and into the opening of his home. Woody sits where the walnuts are entering and eats them one at a time before they fall in. The squirrel pushes them up with his head, but when there's no more nuts, his head gets caught in Woody's mouth.

Does anyone know which animator is responsible for this one scene? My guess is that it's either Don or Ray Patterson- Woody looks absolutely superb in these tree-top scenes, and this design can also be viewed in selected scenes from other cartoons around that time: "Termites From Mars", "Wicket Wacky", "Born To Peck" and "Woodpecker In The Rough".
