Reading Dark Spider's old relationship threads reminded me of a current situation, even though it has barely any similarities to his own.

Ever found yourself drawn to someone whom you think would not be your type, yet you can't help but find something about that person that intrigues you?

That's something I've been churning about in my mind lately. There's a person I don't know too well, though she's been nothing but friendly and gracious to me, that I really don't think would be my type. She wears typical young female jeans, wears fairly nice clothes, and the real 4 bell alarm is that she carries a cellphone, which I hate.

On the other hand, there's something about her that intrigues me. She's not very talkative, is a bit of a loner, and really doesn't use her cellphone a lot from what I've seen. She has a bit of a moody poker face half the time. But her ice-queen demeanor tends to always melt a little bit around me--well, as best as a 24/7 ice-queen can melt, that is.

You know that they say you don't know a person unless you find out, but most of the time, the average person would rather not try at all. But it'll be something I'll be pondering for the next couple of days.

Any of you had any similar experiences? Share and share alike.

EDIT: You know, I'm really entirely too old to be posting these kind of threads. This is teen stuff, threads that kids like Chris and Dark Spider like to post. Oh well. Mingle with the masses. :p

There was a girl in high school. Kind of popular, on the soccer team, Student Council, track. She had the repuation of...well, sleeping with everyone that she at least went out with. She was pretty, and kind of a ditz. It wasn't until she got around me that she dropped what I later discovered to be a pretense. She was actually a very intelligent, semi-deep person, who more or less hid her true self from people because she didn't think people would understand her. Even her friends, people I talked to said she was a total ditz, but I knew better. I don't know if there was anything there, but sometimes it seemed like there was kind of a MOULIN ROUGE thing going on. :)

Though not romantically related, I've known guys who acted like "jerky jocks" in school but were actually pretty down to earth when you got to know them. Of course, they're at fault for being such phonies in school, but it's interesting how the public persona is often different from the private. Very few people I know act the same at home as they do outside. My best friend did--I guess that's why he's easy for girls to like. He has that kind of unassuming charm. I don't think I could ever be like that--I'm too self conscious.
