As I'm sure some of you know Nintendo's spaceworld show is going on this week. Well they just announced that the launch
"will" be pushed back. Thoughts?

BTW Sonic Adventure 2 is coming to Gamecube, that is confirmed.

pushed back till November 18th! *sigh*

I'm not excited about the Sonic 2 port..cuz I already have it for Dreamcast..hehe.

The 2 games I wanted for GC, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Rogue Leader, are both delayed I think..man..this totally sucks..

BUT, the good thing, I suppose, is the fact that I now have more time to save up for the games.. :)

and the new Zelda looks interesting..he sorta looks like paper..I'm a little skeptical of it..but when I saw the video of it in action..I thought it looked just dandy.. :)

Like paper? You mean like Paper Mario?

Irony of ironies. "Hey! Let's make a Mario RPG in 3D for Super Nintendo and the sort-of 2D RPG for N64!"

Legend of Zelda rules. But not Majora's Mask. Booo.

SA2 comes to the Gcube?! Oh YEAH! I want a Cube now....but really, I'm not surprised-there's a Sonic game coming to Game Boy Advance...

...still, it sucks the Cube was delayed...but my Dreamcast will serve me well yet!

I'd like to get a Gamecube. I haven't been able to play Zelda in years, tho my Mom found one you can play on your PC, which is supposed to be just like the original. She's had problems with the movements in the game, so I haven't downloaded it yet. But Zelda is my favorite computer game of all time.

Initial reaction to Gamecube delay: AUGH! NOOOOO!!!

But after a moment's thought, I can understand why they did this. Remember how much of a mess the PS2 launch was? They weren't able to get enough machines out to meet demand, and a lot of people got frustrated over it... frustration which lingers to this day and has taken the wind out of Sony's sails somewhat. This way, Nintendo can have more systems on hand, and can avoid the problems Sony had.

Yeah, the new Zelda looks odd, but it seemed very cool in motion. I have faith.

You don't like Majora's Mask? Whachu talkin' bout, Nightflower? I personally got a huge kick out of it, and the final boss was a big' ole mass of groovy.

Oh well, its not like its a huge delay and I wasn't planning on purchasing it till after Christmas anyways. New Link looks okay, I have yet to see a video so i'll hold back my juedgement till then.

This might be the wrong thread to post this question on, but what do you all think of the X Box?

Ocarina of Time got pushed back, for like, two years, I think. It was great! It was epic, had a great story...the only thing I didn't like about it was that you could only play it once! (Once you beat a boss, you can't beat it again, with the exception of Ganon)

Majora's Mask took quite shorter.... and it required the expansion pak. But why? It only had four dungeons! Ocarina of Time had TEN dungeons (three as a child, six as an adult, and the final battle). Its characters used graphics from the first game! It lacked the story of the first game (which isn't THAT bad, but still....Legend of Zelda with no Zelda? Okay, she was there in a flashback, but still..). Its boss was pretty funky, but silly. Its game time was short, I beat it in a week (Took me a month to beat Ocarina, but I wasn't playing non-stop). And its ocarina songs! They were TERRIBLE! They sounded like a bunch of notes strung randomly together....I LIKED the songs of Ocarina of Time! I hummed them, and stuff. Maybe it would have been fun for a rental, but I was dumb and bought it.
The mask thing was cool, and at least you could redo battles thanks to the resetting of the clock...but that was about it. I wanted to see Kafei as an adult, that was the only reason why I played it ^_^ BUT I DIDN'T!

:D

I go by this equation!
Bill Gates=Bad
Microsoft=Bad
Thus, anything that M.soft tries to use to butt into with is bad!

That's a safe view. I am sure the X Box will sink faster than Commodore 64! No matter how good the games are, no matter how good the graphics will be, I am doubtful people will be rushing out to get it like they will the Game Cube.

Bird Boy

Funny..you beat majora's mask in 10 days..I have no idea what the heck to do..lol. I got to the point where I'm normal link now..and I dunno what to do..oh well..

As for X-Box..screw Microsoft..they can run the computer world..but leave the video game world alone..I play video games so I can get away from opperating systems and loading times.. basically, to me, XBox is a computer. And this one guy I talked to was all in defense of like "But it has a 10gb harddrive in it! It'll revolutionize video games!"..revolutionize my butt....

Run, run Calhoun The Hatter approaches-J/K Hatter.

Anyway, I was just looking at some pictures of DOA3 and the game is impressing me less and less. Don't get me wrong the DOA series is fun but it is shallow, and Tecmo is talking about the gameplay elements so.... Oh well I'll wait and play it for myself.

As of right now the only game I think I'll miss is Jet Grind Future.Oh well right now on X-Box I'm taking a wait a see attitude.

Uhhh the C64 had the most sales for 8-bit system of its time (kinda like saying sink faster then the nes) I think you should use a better example

The Hatter is here! Dum dum dum!!

Eh, most of you on this thread have heard my Xbox rambling enough... bottom line is that if Microsquash doesn't get their act together and actually innovate for once (instead of just using "innovate" in every other sentence of their press releases), they're in deep doo-doo. Yet I read Rolling Stone for this week, and they said that the Xbox was the best one out there because of its processor speed and whatnot. Eh, they put all sorts of ludicrously high-tech overpriced crap on their pages that nobody ever buys all the time, so their endorsement is probably just another harbringer of doom.

Then again, Microsquash has a huge marketing budget and has tricked the public into buying inferior programs... but then again again, Microsquash did that through a stranglehold on the computer market, which is something they certainly don't have on consoles. My guess is that they'll be a distant third in the wars, but we'll see.

I also haven't been too impressed with DOA3... sure, it looks pretty, but it's nothing new. Fighting games have been close to an evolutionary dead-end for a while, someone needs to come around and give the genere a good swift kick in the butt.

Majora's Mask... well, it was a bit shorter, but did you take the time to collect all the masks? It was a different experience than the first N64 Zelda admittedly, but I dug it. I didn't mind the four dungeons that much since I thought the mask quests just about made up for it. Oh, and the extra RAM offered by the expansion pack doesn't allow for bigger games... they allow for games with deeper textures, more complicated AI, more enemies on screen at once, etc. Majora's Mask was darned pretty in that respect. But again, I can see where some people might be dissapointed in it.

Got my demo of Devil May Cry for the PS2 today! Drooooool....

Yup, I got all the masks. That was one of the first things I did, because I like those kind of "collect-em-all" quests. I even got the Oni mask, and I have to admit, THAT was cool. Oni Link ruled! One whack of the sword and boss baddies fell down dead.

When I said I finished the game in a week, I meant including all the side quests and stuff. Got Kafei and Anju together, made the mayor happy, made his wife happy, made the snotty dancing girls happy, made every friggin' person happy. Killed the gold skultulas too. Boo >:(

Poor Link from Zelda....never played a Zelda game, but trust me, I know how you feel about a cool char getting stuck with a bad game....Sonic the Hedgehog had it happen to him all the time.

Microsoft...well, Hatter said it for me. But I'll say it in layman terms :) :

MICROSOFT SUCKS!

Though Gate's apperence on the Simpsons was good....but that's the only time I didn't hate him. Here's hoping the X-Box dies!

I'm not a fan of Sega and the Dreamcast, but in some ways I wish it was stilla round, just so the X-Box had one more competitor to help kill it! Death to Microsoft!

I actually bought a Gameboy just so I could play the Zelda games on it.

Does anyone know what version of Metal Gear Solid the X-Box is getting? A remake of the first, the 2nd game, or its own "X" version? My friend said it was a port of the 2nd game but I had thought i'd heard it was to be a PS2 exclusive

As for X-Box's games...my friend keeps trying to convince me its so much better than the PS2 while I see nothing of interest really. And I would NEVER buy a system just for a fighting game (Only one I ever liked was the clay one on SNES!)

I.R Joey

Ah we're opposites man, fighting games are like 1 or 2 on my desciding factors in buying a system. I love playing them disecting their fighting systems...nummy. :D :D :D

Seriously though Link looks more he's in Zelda Grind Radio. Not that its bad, but its just diffrent. I understand what Miyamoto-san did, and why.

The Mad Hatter
08-24-2001, 09:25 AM
It's Metal Gear Solid 2. It was originally a PS2 exclusive, but then the director said he'd be porting it over to the Xbox. Nobody knows if it'll be different at all. There are some hopeful rumors that it'll be coming to the Gamecube, but nothing solid. (rim shot)

And I strongly encourage you to download the Zelda video... the static images don't do the new look justice.

Bird Boy
08-24-2001, 10:03 AM
yeah, the new looks growing on me.

Miyamoto said he's changing the look because everyone was copying the orig. Zelda look, and to non-expierienced gamers, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

And as for the delay, it's because Nintendo still could've released it on Nov. 5th, but the pushed it back to have more units availible....aren't they nice guys? :)

you can read bunches of crap over at cube.ign.com (http://cube.ign.com)

Ouch, ouch, ouch - the truth hurts. The computer I'm using runs on Windows ME, if you use "run" in the absolute loosest sense of the word. But there's one good thing about it - because of its unparalleled freezing capability, I've got the "three fingered salute" (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) learned by heart.

Yeesh. For video games, gimme a good ol' SNES or a PlayStation any day. As someone else already said, let Microsoft stay out of the gaming market - at least until they can make a decent OS for a computer first.

Speaking of which - anyone here ever played the Donkey Kong series? I loved those!

BourgeoisBuffoon

MAN, what I would not give for the old 16-bit days! It was only Sega and Nintendo, but the competition was NOWHERE as cruel as it is now. And the companies focused on gameplay in thier games rather than graphics and having the sexiest girl...(sigh).

Oh, for those days....

I miss Atari,Commadore and Acorn :( well at least Apple is still arround. You notice they all have A in somewhere in the name? Atari, Amiga, Apple, Acorn Archimedes yet there is no A in Windows or Microsoft hmmm I think it is a sign

On Zelda copying:

I think it's mostly the game mechanics that have been stolen, particularly the Z-targeting system. But a few have taken the look as well... whatsisface from Dark Cloud is a dead ringer for Link.
