So any college seniors out there start applying for jobs yet? I've just begun throwing my (very skimpy) resume out into the real world. I thought this day would never come. working in a real world job for the rest of your life. *shudder*

I've applied to different places for two years and I got two callbacks. The first place I declined because it involved delivery (not allowed), the second place I had two job interviews and they told me no after they kept saying "call later and we'll know" for two weeks. I then worked at Burger King for six days (I mentioned my horrible experience in another thread). Since then, college has taken up my time.

Anyway, hope you have better luck then I did.

Good luck to both of you on getting jobs. Just remember to smile and look nice :D . My sis and her husband had it way too easy, seriously. My brother in law was approached in his Junior year by Ernest & Young and they held a spot for him for when he graduated. And my sister, well, she can get a job anywhere. She's pretty, bubbly, and a wonderful worker. She was interning at Sony, and they were going to create a position for her just to keep her in the company. Her second company was going to give her a higher pay raise to keep her, and they still will have a job for her if she wants to come back. In her currect company, she's trying to move up on the ladder, and she's got people making bids basically for her to join their group. Freaks. Anyhoo, have either of you done an internship? I plan on doing that my Junior/Senior year, it's supposed to make a big difference not only in giving you a taste to see if you like it, but also help get you connections before you even graduate.

I thought about it, but I really need a job. I don't want to depend on my parents for money.

I've already graduated with my Bachelor's but I'm too scared to be a part of the real world yet. I'm hiding in school a little while longer until I know what I wanna do. Unfortunately, the line of work I'm hoping for is the film industry, and that's a really tough one to crack. Hmph - maybe I should just be an accountant and send out screenplays until I get some nibbles from the big studios.

Anyhoo, good luck to everyone currently in the job hunt.

And Barb - I envy your sister and bro-in-law. Man, why aren't I that lucky...*SNIFFLE*

I'll probably just hide in college for a really long time. I know two people who are in their 8th year of college. They're never gonna leave.

lol, yeah, a lot of people envy my sis and bro-in law....those little buggers. Anyhoo, I wouldn't mind staying in college! Of course, I'm a major school nerd, and would love to be a "professional student" as it's termed. Getting my BA, then Masters, then PhD....I mean, that's like 8 years there!

Well, by the end of my undergraduate years, I knew that what I wanted to do required that I continue on to graduate school. I just finished with that last December, and went through the old job hunt in the last few months of last year. I got lucky, and found some places that were interested in me right away, and landed a job a few weeks before I graduated. :D

Yeah, if I had enough willpower I'd do that, too. The problem is that eventually money would be an issue - and really, I'd like to get out of my current job long before I hit 30. :p

Being a professional student working in the field, however - that would be my ideal place to start. A student of film, making films. :)
