Quite a few edits today, all of them involving the Un-mother. Here’s a list of what was edited:

-A scene where Inu-Yasha’s head was completely sucked into the Un-mother’s chest, fully exposing her breasts, was removed.

-After Kagome destroyed the image in the lake, a scene showing the Un-mother recoiling in pain and releasing Inu-Yasha from her chest, fully exposing her breasts, was removed.

-The Un-mother’s head was painted out when Sesshoumaru used his whip to shatter it into bloody bits.

Anime v. Manga: Today’s episode did stick quite close to the manga, save for a few tone-downs for TV. The biggest difference is that when Sesshoumaru removes his father’s grave from Inu-Yasha’s eye, he doesn’t use magic to remove it; he actually pierces Inu-Yasha’s eye with his fingers to take it out.

Next week is the conclusion of Inu-Yasha’s battle with Sesshoumaru. So you’re probably wondering, “Will there be a lot of blood that could be edited?” Actually, there is hardly any blood except in one crucial scene, and it’s this scene that I’ll be paying attention to next week. But I’m almost 100% confident Viz will leave it in, as the scene would look silly without the blood (but that's really no guarantee).

Until next time, Osoroshii kangae nimo osoware mas.

I had a feeling those were the edits. It seemed strange how Inu-Yasha was just out of the un-mother all of a sudden, and I was wondering why I heard an offscreen whipping and then the head was spoken of no more. Oh well. It wasn't too bad.

Yes, and it's finally starting to live up to it's TV-14 rating. :D

Yeah, I'm just happy they're not toning down the language anymore.

Now that I think about it, the head whipping edit as we saw it could've been prevented. Why couldn't Viz simply paint out the blood? Then we'd just see pieces of the head. It's still an edit, but it would make more sense.

MAJOR SPOILER:
You mean the part where Inu Yasha cuts Fluffy's arm off, right? Just asking out of curiosity.

Yes, that's correct. Interestingly enough, there is no blood in the entire episode except for that scene. Weird.

Ayep, I remembered that from the manga and missed it a lot in the show, as, to me, that is part of the motivation for Kagome's actions. I really think that was important enough that they should have just editted the blood out and left the bits in. Sigh.

And I was pretty disappointed with the way they handled Sesshoumaru's taking of the pearl - the manga is just better!

Considering that the breasts were nipple-less and that Kagome's breasts were shown in one episode without any digital editing, those first two edits were unnecessary. If they really objected to to, why not just have them toned down like the infamous Mistress Centipede scene in the first episode (get rid of any lines that define them as breasts).

Also: The third edit is really stupid (no offense to anyone but it is). Why would the Un-mother's head be painted out before it got shattered? I expected the actual shattering to be cut (or at least have the blood and the pieces of head digitally removed. But that's something I'd expect Toonami to do. ASA is unpredictable with its editing and that's the way I likes it).

Please don't bash me on this post. I'm just stating fact and opinion.

Remember, Kagome's breasts weren't actually fully shown. They were partially hidden by water or her hair. The breasts of the Un-mother were fully shown. And although we got to see Mistress Centipede's edited breasts, we really couldn't tell she had breasts because they were so small. With the Un-mother, you could tell she had breasts, and I'm sure the editing required to tone them down would've taken a lot of time and resources. So Viz chose the easy route out, of course.

As for the head shattering, that edit was kinda pointless, I agree.

I knew that, but judging by my cynical outlook on CN editing anime, I thought that the water or hair covering her breasts was a digital edit (like they digitally raised the water to cover her breasts or they made her hair longer than usual)...until I was told it wasn't.
