Tenchi GXP - The big question

Fact - FUNimation has the translation rights to Tenchi GXP.

Fact - FUNimation has pretty much stated it's goal is to put anything it gets the rights to on TV.

Fact - FUNimation's best production friend in the universe right now is Cartoon Network. FUNi prefers to work with CN and has had good dealings with CN in the past (DBZ, DB, Yu Yu Hakusho).

Fact - With Tenchi Muyo having aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami and Adult Swim (in the early ASA days, I think) there are Tenchi fans out there that want to see more Tenchi and the Universe of Tenchi. This has previously been unavailable -- until GXP.

Summary - Based on the above, there is a strong (I would say near certain) possiblity that Tenchi Muyo! GXP is coming to Cartoon Network in either the Adult Swim or Toonami blocks.

The Questions in which I pose to all is WHICH block to you THINK (not hope) will CN choose to air GXP? Toonami, where it would most definately have to be editted, or Adult Swim, where it could get by with little or no editting?

-AND-

How much editting would you think would be needed to place GXP on said block. (if you've already seen it)

-AND FINALLY-

Which block do you WANT it to be on?

I know we've covered a lot of this in other topics, but I wanted to bring these questions to you all directly to see your opinions, and create this topic for a "Tenchi GXP Watch" to see what is a potiential, but far from definate, future addition to the Adult Swim lineup.

I think it'll be on Toonami, just because it's where Tenchi started out, and therefore, where the largest fan base (theoretically) is. It'd be nice if it were on ASA, but I somehow doubt it. Unless CN did something like it did for Gundam Wing, and air it uncut on either Midnight Run or ASA.

Can' be shown on Toonami since several important scenes have nudity in them.

For example, when Seina is going to get married, 4 servant girls kidnap him, and when Seina's harem chases after them, the 4 servant girls try to lessen the load by removing all their clothes and than they try to have sex with Seina.

Plus the series ends with Seina marrying 8 women and a cabbit.

That will go over well with the parents.

The spoilers were in the part of his original message that I chose not to quote.

The part where he gives away the plot for the final episode that aired about last week in Japan, let alone in the US.

Well I wouldn't mind seeing it on Toonami or Adult Swim. But keep in mind, Toonami is somewhat controlled by soccer moms so they would butcher it to hell. Adult swim would be more leninent.

I think it'll be on Toonami. They've gotten around nudity before, they could do it again. Tenchi is more kid-oriented, anyway, even if this series isn't.

The only plus I can see of it being on Toonami would being able to see it 4-5 times a week. The negatives are edits (obviously) and return of digi-bikinis *shudders*. However, if it is to be then let it be. I'll live. ^^

That's where the series got its CN fans(including me), and I would love to see it receive the special Toonami treatment.

And anyway, ASA's already getting and will be getting so many good shows (IY, new YYH, Big O 2, GITS TV); William Street should focus some more attention on Toonami.

Sorry to sound so Toonami-centric, but that's my view on Tenchi.

Um...you realize that digital bikinis would be added on both Toonami AND Adult Swim--it wouldn't just be a Toonami thing. We've seen digital bikinis on Adult Swim (the porno mags in Cowboy Bebop, for one)

I think GXP should be on Toonami, since that's where the whole Tenchi thing started for the network. Then again, I also think that Big O should continue on Toonami because that's where it started, but everyone's like "no, no, it's not a kids' show! It's supposed to be on Adult Swim". Whatever :rolleyes:

I have something to point out...

Tenchi was done by Pioneer and Cartoon Network did the editing.

FUNimation is doing Tenchi GXP and they themselves do the editing. Basically, what does this mean? Could FUNi cut the scenes completely? That would be bad if the series really NEEDED Nudity. :(

The only reason I wanted Big O 2 on ASA was because I believed that Big O 2 had more to do with CN than it actually did. Since its airing on Japanese TV, and Bandai got the distrobution rights, I'd rather see it on Toonami. I don't care about edits, I'll buy the DVDs wherever it airs.

I think it will go to Toonami, and that's EXACTLY where I want it to go. Toonami needs something besides shows trying to sell a toyline and DBZ. Besides, AS has got a plethora of shows to choose from anyway and shows that we've been wanting to see for a while that they could pick up.

Please note that if it does show up on Toonami they can't show either episode 11 or 26.

Episode 11 is way more perverted than "Hotsprings at Tennai" and 26 is just not right polygamy, marrying a wild animal, and a kid is just not kosher.

And a a lot of episodes would only be about 15 minutes or less.
