Heh... It was ok, kinda had the comedy style like the farting dragon ep. Personally I like the fighting eps and less comedy, but I guess you have to have some relief now and then from the usual Jack.

terrible.
i say the further they distance jack from the ccf timeslot, the better the show will become.
this was a horrible chaser to an epic Justice League. And what a dropoff from the Demongo ep.

Dear god.
I thought this episode was hilarious.
The ones that involve humor are among the best, in my opinion.
Far more interisting than those extremely repetitive fighting episodes.

I LOVED it! This has been the best comedy episode of the show so far. The tropical scenery after the opening battle with the swamp monster was absolutely breathtaking (and so were those waterfalls)! (*Sigh!*)
The "Princess of Hearts" scene where he mistook the "Cheshire Dragon" for Aku was a hoot. And, of course, there were pop-culture references galore (The "Princess of Hearts" on the billboard looks like Darbee from Dexy's Lab, and, naturally, the "Alice in Wonderland" references. And someone on another site said there was a little influence of Sid and Marty Krofft as well!).
Next week's ep (back to the battle business as usual) sounds like it's gonna be a good one, too.
I'll definitely be paying a return visit to this Wonderland!

Yet another change of pace!
Lots of really strange critters, even by SJ-world standards (when was the last time you saw an Apu-voiced walrus driving a balloon taxi?)
A whole 'nother type of soundtrack.
And, of course, we get to see Jack in states of dress (and undress) we've never seen before (oh, GADS, that 'Princess Going Beserk' scene was funny!!)
If Genndy keeps on doing stuff this variant, we'll never know what 'Samurai Jack' is going to hit us with next week.
I can't think of a surer way to keep an audience interested.

I wasn't sure about this episode but boy, I liked it! It's nice to show that after epic battles Jack has to wash up like everyone else (sigh...)
I liked the part when Jack was a cat burglar who stealing (what else?) cats! And the part with him dressed as a girl was priceless. Alice attacking "Aku" rocked!
The music was really great; reminded me of Jango Reinhart--upbeat and happy!
This episode showed how Jack handles situations where he really can't fight, he has to think his way out of a situation, even ridiculous ones!
I can't believe the mixed response on this episode! I was for sure everyone would hate it, but... That ending there where the SJ logo didn't start with the music was different. What was up with that elephant fairy thing?
Of course, we all know the beginning was evidence that Genndy knows that Jack fangirls do exist. :D ;) I had my own mixed feelings for this one. It just seemed so stupid for Jack to be in that type of environment, yet...I laughed. Our predictions of Jack crossdressing were true (and man, does he do a good job, hee hee! :D ). I loved when he freaked out on the stage!

Wise, very wise.

I'm just going to quote the remarks I agree with the most.

To sum up my feelings: the first few minutes of this ep are great, and NOT just from a drooling fangirl's point of view.
I really enjoyed the change-of-pace music.
I liked how Jack was able to handle the various situations (except for the taxi sequence, I thought that was plain dumb). It was fun how calmly he handled the cross-dressing part. And the series of expressions on his face when the cat burglar confronts him was classic, too.
The "Princess of Hearts" sequence was great. They should have had that be the climax of the episode, though, because the Centipede train stuff was far less entertaining. (I myself thought it was stupid.)
The elephant fairy I found rather disturbing. I assume that was yet another pop-culture reference, but I don't know to what.
So in my opinion it was better than the nauseating Dragon episode. However, it was marred by far too much silliness and stupidity.

Well, I wouldn't like it if someone ran into me if I was naked. :o

Did everyone catch the cool Vulcan neck pinch Jack did on the Engineer! Maybe Genndy's a Trekkie...

the only redeeming quality of this ep was the preview for next week's show, Jack & the Spartans.
i watched it last night and hated it.
i gave it a second chance tonight, still hated it
i can see where some of you wanted more comedy from this series but c'mon! I like the comedy in eps like XII & XIII but this was just plain silly.

I think I might remember someone saying that's where Rodenberry got the idea for the vulcan neck pinch from. Or did I imagine that little detail? (It's been quite a few years since I've been a Trekker.)
Either that, or he could've picked it up from some aliens he's encountered along the way.

Though it lacks the comfort, sensibility, and style of my gie, it will have to do.
Loved it. Thought it was much better than "Demongo."
The sound was excellent. I completely captured the surrealism of the episode. The cartoony sound effects made this episode seem.... cartoony. Wonderful change of pace. The music was also very cool. I really want to know what instrument they used.
The visuals where also very good. The depiction of a dirty wonderland was cool. It made a nice contrast between bright blues, reds and oranges and dingy swamp-ish greens, browns and oranges.
Loved the plot. Gratuitous nudity is funny. And I love the plot structure of one thing on top of another in any format, so I loved it here too. I also liked the ending.
Overall, I've enjoyed this episode more than any other, but I don't think it's the best.
5/5.
I'm not a real serious Jack fan but, I loved this episode. There's nothing like seeing the police chasing an "almost naked man".
This episode fills in for everything every other episode didn't have, 23 minutes of comic relief.
I thought the poke at the arcade game "Centepede" was funny. When was the last time you saw a video game refrence on this show? Especailly an 80s game XD (for those who have no idea what I'm talking about: Jack used a ball to drive a centapede. In the arcade, you used a simaler ball to drive a spaceship to shoot... a centepede!)
5/5

Interestingly, the 'Centipede' ref didn't occur to me until my nine-year-old niece pointed it out. :o

And TottokoHamutaru gets a gold star!!! :: pins a nice, shiney star on TH::
I didn't see Jack until this evening (sunday), and I loved the music, and as always, I adore the palette the team uses!! Just amazing colors.
I like the episodes which stray the course into completely unexpected and random scenarios. Moonlighting was one of the first programs I can remember watching which did this occasionally (the episode, Atomic Shakespear is the most notable of them), and the writing/creative team was considered brilliant when they did so.
This one was done very well. I was bordering on disappointment with the drag bit (I've tired of the obvious attempts for cheap laughs with Dexter and it seems, every child movie put out over the past 10 years), but the Alice costume was used as more than a predictable shock or sight gag.
But most importantly, was the Ode to a Centipede! The sound effects and (most obvious) the trackball were perfect and such a treat!! :: pops in Beastie Boys track, Body Movin:: And if you play Defender, I could be your Hyperspace! http://smilies.uniquehardware.co.uk/contrib/unknown/face11.gif

i was pleasantly surprised by enjoying this ep. i was expecting it to be dumb. i didn't play many video games in my youth(except pacman) so i missed the centipede ref completely.
And that, Ninjagirl, is why I got a gold star!
Now everyone knows about centepede *runs into wall and the "you lose" music from centepede plays*
Didn't like this episode. Especially after the "Demongo" episode. Humor is good and all, but I really think the creators got carried away. It was pretty funny at first, but 5 minutes later it's stale.

That's interesting, MJC, because the first five minutes were what I didn't like.
My fear while watching the beginning, was that I was going to have to watch 22+ minutes of jack running around being shielded with convenient objects covering up vital areas austin powers style... which is funny in Austin Powers, but my expectations are not that of Jack ripping off some other gag.

I thought it was a really cute episode. I'm not a religious Jack fan (although I think it's a great series and I plan on buying any and all DVDs that come out- already got the premiere movie), so I wasn't as offended by the idea of a total comic relief episode as some people seem to be. I do see how it's a little out of place, though.
In answer to someone's question, the Vulcan nerve pinch is a total fiction, in reality it would be almost impossible to render someone unconscious by pinching their neck without cutting off their windpipe and killing them. It CERTAINLY wouldn't work with all the various species Spock uses it on in Star Trek.
And I share several people's curiosity as to the identity of that elephant-fairy thing. Does anyone know if that's a reference to something?

I daresay Genndy knows.
Prehaps we should keep our eyes peeled for it in future eps.

Not to my knowledge. Which is very cool IMO... I like not having everything tied up neat & tidy, so to speak. (Life doesn't have the closure of every detail most entertainment media does; random things happen all the time for seemingly no reason.) Also consider that the elephant guy may be seen again in the future... of um... jacks future, which is in the future of.. oh, you know...

I still don't understand what was so great about "Demongo". IMO, it was one of the worst episode of the series.

For one thing, a lot of us considered Demongo an impressive guest-villain. And the fighting scenes included a couple good in-jokes (though nothing as funny as Jack Down The Rabbit Hole.)
(Come to think of it, does that make him a Jack Rabbit?)

Well, this episode was certainly different... Heh, it took some getting used to, but I liked it. The scene with Jack, dressed as Alice, beating up an Aku-like figure was the most hillarious thing I've seen in awhile. I love all the peoples funny little accents too!
