I don't know if you guys have heard this question before but it's really been bugging me.
The newer episodes of dexter, have diffrences...nothing too diffrent to point out, but it's diffrent...you know what I mean.
Dexter seems a bit....more pointy, and his voice isn't as boyish....I don't know, that animation seems a tad diffrent (specially in "dad"). Does anyone know why they changed it?

Yeah, there is a difference between old Dexter and new Dexter... I think what happened is they took all that, umm... whaddayacallit... "goodness" that was in the old Dexter, took it out, and replaced it with... y'know.... "crap." Yeah. That's it.

I hope that they won't go ahead with the idea for a new Flintstones series. Most of these classic movie re-makes are bad enough; please leave the cartoons alone.

So I'm guessing most of you don't like the change?

New Dexter has its moments- they're few and far between, but it DOES have them. But it's NOTHING compared to old Dexter. The animation is worse, the writing is worse (come back, Genndy!), even the voice acting is horrible.
They should have ended the series when Genndy left. I'd rather have no new Dexter episodes at all than these travesties they show now. Thanks to new crappy Dexter episodes, I hardly ever even get to see the old good ones in rerun any more. I'm guessing CN doesn't rerun the old good ones as much because they don't want Dexter newbies to see them and realize what crap they're making now.
But hey, that's all just my opinion. (-:

To let the truth be told, I've only seen like 3 of the new ones.
The one where he goes in the girls bathroom, and the one where he's stuck in the computer. I like those two, but I find the other ones.....lacking something.....

To be honest, no. I sort of have an aversion to re-makes and movies based on classic series (the "My Favorite Martian" movie comes to mind), and don't really expect any re-make to be as good as the original.
But what the hell. I did and still do give some re-makes a chance no matter how god-awful I think they'll be. And some of them are entertaining, although they lack the charm of their predecessors. Hey, I watched a few of the new Dexter eps, even though I had a feeling I wouldn't like them very much--and I don't.
The next time "Flinstones On the Rocks" comes on, I'll be sure to catch it. :) (*shrugs* Hey, Savino may run with his idea and make it the funniest series ever made. I hope.)

Same here. I don't like the new eps, but they do have a few funny bits (Dexter's mom battling another woman for the last pair of gloves in the supermarket, for instance).

I look at it like this. They're two diffrent shows. The Genny episodes is Genny, Craig, and Paul's vision. The Savino eps are Chris, Dave and the Morrows's vision. The Savino eps aren't inferior, they're just diffrent. (Though, as I've said, I prefer Genny.)

They SHOULD be two different shows. Savino should have started his own show instead of ruining Dexter. You can talk about them being different but equal all you want (I don't believe it for a second- Genndy is just plain better in every respect), but the fact is that Dexter was Genndy's brainchild. He was the first and the greatest. The new episodes don't even TRY to stay true to his vision. This isn't a matter of Genndy passing on the torch to someone new. This is a matter of Genndy's creation getting mauled by an inferior mind.
If you like the new episodes, that's fine, that's your opinion. But you can't call Genndy and Savino "equal." Genndy CREATED Dexter. Savino just took another person's creation and changed it.

Allthough, I admit, I'd rather see a Savino created show than Dexter through the eyes of Savino.

All excellent points, MyndHed, esp. that one about CN burying the older, better episodes. Reminds me of Nickelodeon and the whole "Rugrats" 1997-present episodes imbroglio. Try and find a 1991-93 episode in the upcoming schedule. I dare you.

I guess I was a little harsh there, sorry about that. It's just a measure of how much I prefer the old Dexter to the new. You're right, Genndy probably could have ended the show instead of passing it on, and I wish he had- but he didn't. And I'm sure that Savino truly believes that the new Dexter is just as good as the old- I just disagree (strongly!) with him.

For the record, Genndy did end the production. That is why the hiatus between seasons 2 and 3. Essentially, he wanted to take a break, and in the interim, he was working on PPG while developing other ideas.
After some time on PPG, he was going to go back to Dexter, only to have Samurai Jack get the green light. Given that DL has been established already while SJ will still need a lot of interaction, the baton was passed to others to work on for DL while he gave greater attention to SJ.
FWIW, Chicken Scratch was pretty much GT's work.

GT Dexter was better. CS Dexter (or 2.0) seems more of a cookie cutter type. It's watchable and with a few exceptions doesn't deter from the original, though the new voice talent doesn't compare to the old. Some of the revisionist history in 2.0 (such as Mandark now coming from a family of hippies) is either funny or bad.
Bringing back the Flintstones was just as bad as John K. bringing back Yogi Bear. The snippets (or Station ID shorts) of the Flinstones should be left as it is.
(In an unrelated note: interesting that TNN is now getting Ren and Stimpy--must have been too edgy for Nick...)
If I had to take between v1.0 and v2.0 I'll stay with the oldschool. The new version isn't great--it's just enough to whet a Dexter appetite but either you love it or hate it.

The original Dexter episodes are what made the series immensely popular. Of course people will love them more, otherwise they wouldn't have watched them and reply to this thread.
Season 2 has its charms. It has taken a lot from the original series and expanded it out into something that has a sense of humor. The Savino's interpretation is more like a spoof of the original in many ways. Its like instead of making new episodes, they took extra efforts to make them funnier, which could only be done by making them more weird. Is Mandark pretending to be Dex's mom funny? Not really....it just has an oddity that makes it funny. Dexter 2.0 is only good to fans already of the show. The tender moments from the original are not there, nor the spoof-like humor displayed in many of the episodes.

No kidding. My little brother was crazy about the old Dexter, but he hates the new episodes.
