I just got finished watching the late night news on my ABC affiliate and an interesting thing caught my attention. McDonalds is planning to change the recipe to "America's Favorite Fries" to a low fat formula.
What do you think about this? I think that McDonalds is taking a huge risk in changing "America's Favorite Fries"...

I think it is utterly stupid. Changing the way they cook it will help probably 10% of the consumers. I havn't been to McDonalds in awhile but I don't count on going there in awhile.
Did you hear that they open a McDonalds around the world every five hours? *Shivers*

Hmph...changing their recipe and adding that "Lighter Choices Menu" that we have up here isn't gonna make me go there any more frequently...or less frequently. All I gotta say is that I hope the new recipe doesn't change the taste of those fries - that's about the best thing McDonald's makes. :p

(As Victor once said to Nora, "Would you like Fries with that?")

That won't change my visits. I hardly ever go there, and when I do it's for the shakes, sometimes with the fries. They're so thin and salty *blech*

Oh well, I don't eat at McDonalds anyway. Their food is awful.

They just don't want those lawsuits from people who say fast food resturants are the reason they eat so much.

They are completely stupid to do that, changing their recipe. I read that the total fat content will stay the same, just different kinds of fat. I hope they lose some customers!

I think that McD's fries are too salty and carboardy. BK fries...now there's some yummy fries. Covered in that thick layer of crispy fried goodness...mmm... :p
Maybe the recipe change will get them some better tasting fries as well as lower the fat. I don't think that they could taste much worse.

They're changing it because some 300-pound guy sued them, saying that the fry formula was addicting and the grease caused him to gain weight.
People, I couldn't make that up if I tried.

Well, since Fries are the only thing at McDonalds i eat, if they screw with those, I probably won't be back. But I'm hopin they'll taste pretty much the same.

They've got to change with the times. And right now, most people are really weight conscious in some way. I love McDonald's fries, for me also they're about the only thing I eat there. But hey, if they change it to make it "better" and it still tastes the same, then I'm all for it....then I wont have to feel so guilty eating them!

Wait...if McDonald's changes their fry recipe, then what's that garbage they pump out of their restaurant through the air ducts gonna smell like in the future? If anyone here lives near a McDonald's, you know the smell I'm referring to. :D
And on a side note, whatever happened to the Fry Guys? Remember them? Those little multi-coloured bouncy mop-top dudes?

They're not actually cutting any fat out of it. They're reformulating the oil recipie, yes, cooking oil has a recipie at the place it comes from, to cut the amount of trans-fatty acids by about 50% or so, though it might have been more. Still the same amount of fat, just a differt, slightly less damaging, form.
They should taste the same. It's the kinds of oil and certain chemicals in the oil they're changing, not the flavors put in the oil.

Yea, I remember that. That one on the news a few nights ago. I think that is the most stupidest court case ever. You can't sue someone because of your inability to control yourself! Its McDonald's job to provide its consumers with fries, but its your personal responsibility to control your eating habits. You can't expect a corporation to do that for you.
If this guy wins his lawsuit, then its truly the end for America's Judicial system and humanity...

Hey' it's not as pointless as the lady who sued them for not properly marking the hot coffee she spilled in her lap. Hello, coffee is SUPPOSED to be hot.

They should make the doors smaller and have a cardboard sign with a little fat McNugget on it and it says "You must weigh less than Chubby McNuggy to come into McDonalds"

We might as well sue the 300lb guy for causing higher priced health coverage.

I don't eat at McDonalds now nor do I plan on doing so in the future. I take great pride in the fact that I haven't eaten it for years

Woo-hoo, Toonzone's favorite fast food restaurant to kick around! :-)
I do eat at Mickey-D's sometimes, but not a lot (though been trying to avoid fast food overall lately). Do think their fries are the one redeemable thing about the place's "cuisine"....thus, hope this doesn't ruin it (er, for McDonald's™ standards, anyway).
Ironic thing is, my sister is/was a manager at McDonald's™... apparently, it pays reasonably well, for a fast-food place.
