So, I am a 100% certified Toys R Us employee. :D Sweet job, eh? Well, today they asked me if I would mind working a graveyard shift sometime? I said "sure." HAHA! I'm so stupid.
See, Toys R Us is already preparing for Christmas. No, we're not putting up tree's and plastic santa's yet...that's the day after halloween. What we need to do is pretty much rearange the store so we can make as much shelf space as possible for the Holiday Toy's that are going to come in sometime in November. This is going to take at least 2 more weeks  , and my Manager has given me the Night shift for the whole thing. So, starting tomarrow night I'm working from 10PM-7AM. This is running from Tuesday-Friday, I get Saturday off, and I don't know what my schedule will be from there. *sigh*
SO, to prepare I'm going to stay up ALL NIGHT, and sleep all day tomarrow(even though I need to make a trip to the DMV sometime tomarrow.) I don't know how all this is going to work out. But...oh well.
Oh...and...since I'm going to be up all night...anyone want to stay up with me?? :D

I've never had to work a graveyard shift (no later than 10:30pm, no earlier than 6am) and I hope to God I never have to.
All I can say my friend, is, may the force be with you.
BTW, bring lots of coffee. :)

I worked a Midnight to 9 shift once. Takes some adjustment, but it's not that bad. Keep a radio with you if possible. Make sure to eat before you go into work.

I thought the graveyard shift was the most enjoyable because you didn't have to listen to all the screaming children?

At least you won't have to deal with customers :) . I would like to work that shift. Just get a radio and have some fun with your co-workers. I'm sure it won't be that bad.

It's not SOO bad. I hate afternoons. I love the NIGHT (as AIM compardres may have noticed), but I love mornings (although not a morning person to my dismay), however I hate afternoons. Do the night, enjoy the mornings, and sleep between the dull hours of 12-6 then go out for a bevy and back to work.
If everyone did that - I'd be happy with that shift. You get the night, evening and the morning - you get rid of the dull after noon!

I worked the midnight shift at a hospital for 3 summers and loved it. I never had to adjust, because my body schedule has always been like that anyway. In fact, I'm still having trouble adjusting to my new job, where I actually have to be at work from 9-5 - my body just doesn't want to cooperate. I'd kill to have the midnight shift back again!

My main concern is I dont know any of the Graveyard shift "regulars", so I'm a little worried about my co-workers. BUT, the day-manager who asked me said that they're all toy-geek-nightime-vampire-goth weirdo's, and I would probably like them. HAHA...I'm not sure if I should be proud or offended....
Yes, the "best" part is that I wont have to deal with customers, but they've never bothered me before. I swear, the parents are worse than the kids. Here's the usual situation: Kid is with parent, kid see's something he likes(he's in a friggin toy store after all!!!), he stops to look at it for a second, parent breaks out into hissy fit, and kid starts crying...etc. etc.. Parents are terrible at Toy Stores...kids are just in their element, but their parents scream at them so much they can't enjoy themselves. *sigh*.
Anyway...I'll be up all night(so I can sleep all day and be good for the night shift), no doubt watching movies and playing games, but untill I break off to do those...who's going to be online with me?! PLEASE?! I need people to post with. :p And this might be tough. I've gotten like...4 hours of sleep two nights in a row(damn you Adult Swim!!), and now...it's 6:41 in the evening, and I'm uber-tired. *sigh*...coffee time! :D

It's 2:30 in the AM, and I'm holding up o.k. I had a terrible allergy attack a while ago, but I'm recovering. I need my allergy pills...but...eh, it can wait. So, this will probably be my last post for tonight. You punks didn't stay on and post all night with me...and for that, I'm gonna blow you all up when I'm fully awake and capable!!! http://forums.off-topic.net/images/smilies/rl.gif haha...anyway. As much as I LOVE my Speed Racer avatar, I think I'm going back to my 60's-poster-father guy again...then head off to watch some movies. I have 'Very Bad Things', Snatch(one of my personal favorites), The Matrix, Waynes World, and Dogma lined up to keep me awake and busy till I can go to sleep in the morning. How does that sound? :D
Well...I'm off! http://forums.off-topic.net/images/smilies/fruit.gif
