When I was born, the Hebrew day was the 25th of Elul. This year, the 25th of Elul falls on September 2nd, so I expect presents for both the 25h of Elul, since I was born on that day in the Hebrew calendar, and I expect presents on Sept 26th, since I was born on that day in the regular calendar. :p

This would be a good bargaining tool with family and parents to get MORE birthday presents! Figure out what Hebrew date (http://www.rtlsoft.com/hebrew/calendar/today.html) you were born on and get more presents!

It already worked for me! My mom just sent me an amazon.com gift certificate! :D

And for 50.00 to boot! Gotta love that Jewish calendar!

Gee...it's nice to know that my religion is a good way for you to get more junk.

*not happy*

lmao, that's awesome Calhoun! I know friends who are of two religions, normally half Jewish/half Catholic, normally more one then the other, and they love it when they get twice as many presents during the holidays from each side of the family. My birthday is in December with Christmas, so I always get loads of presents that month, no need to try and get anymore out of my parents, hehe.

thank you for proving my point.

people viewing Judaism as a way to get more presents are imature, and insulting. You can't be 1/2 Jewish. You either are, or aren't.

If you mother's Jewish..you're Jewish (unless you convert) If you're father's Jewish and you mother is not...you aren't..untill you convert.

You can't be both...and to do it for material gains is insulting..not just to Judaism, but to Christianity as well...

It's a calendar, not a religion. I wasn't even talking about religions here. I thought it was a cool thing, there being two calendars in the world that different countries use to measure time, that's all. And when I found out about the Jewish calendar, I found it interesting about my birthdate. I guess I could have included information about the Egyptian calendar to be completely fair. So the calendars use dates based on religious beliefs, but a calendar is a daily part of our lives. I didn't realize you had to be religious to use one. Sorry if you were offended, but it's just an interesting thing to me.

Yeah...Cal is right. He's just talking about the HEBREW CALENDER...not the entire freakin' religion...

Also...Jews are a race. In that respect, yes...you can be half Jewish.
Judaism is a religion, just like Christianity or Mormanism. Period. This is where so many, both jew's and everyone else, get confused. Stop mixing them up. I know Athiest Jews...If that sounds funny, there's something wrong with you. Why? Because Jew is a race...just like an Athiestic African American...it's just a race.
