I liked the show. It was really good. My only complaint is the voice of Inu Yasha. Is this the same guy that did Bit Cloud from Zoids?? Richard Cox is his name, I think. Anyway, I wasn't feeling his voice, all the others were good though.

Her chest was fine. I wouldn't say they're edited since there have been many times where nipples weren't present in naked breasts shown in animation (unless this anime is different) and even video games.

Someone told me the voice editing was gonna suck, but it was done by the Ocean Group, so I was pleased. A good job overall with the content editing as well, although they removed a few cultural references.

Yay! Just watched IY and I'm very happy with it so far. They kept the original japanese credits and the VA all did a great job. My only problem with this episode? The whole "I don't think I'm in Tokyo anymore" line. I dunno, maybe they say this in the original, but I doubt it. I guess the dub company couldn't resist the Wizard of OZ reference. :rolleyes: Oh well.

They did an excellent job and I can't wait til next week!

Ehhh... I think editing the demon-woman wins the "most pointless edit ever" award. All they did was make its chest smaller. Seriously, it looked exactly the same as it did in the original, except with smaller breasts. It's not like the original at any nipples or anything.

Oh well. It's CN/Viz's money so I guess they can waste it however way they choose. =\

That was Saban who edited that. Freaking weirdos. As what I heard, the demon did not have nipples. So Viz could have shown it. Remember Blue Sub 6? CN took out that girl's nipples, but people knew there were boobs and nobody complained.

Yes, that Yajirobe thing was a pretty pointless edit. But still, they didn't actually achieve anything here. Why is a naked chest with small breasts more "acceptable" than a naked chest with larger breasts?

It's the so called "Woody Effect." Little girls at swimming pools can run around topless because it won't arouse the men, and therefore won't cause the men to be indecent and possibly do something that is detremental to both the man and the girl. When a girl matures enough to have breasts, this is no longer acceptable because people fear it could cause molestation or even rape.

In the same sense, one would assume the "Woody Effect" applies to TV. The censors assume that smaller breasts means less attractive to men, and therefore less likely to cause disturbing behavior. It's all based on the readings on the censors' woodometers.

If you have Inuyasha on tape still you should be able to find one un-edited frame of the demon woman. During the demon's attack on the village (about half-way through the show) there will be a scene where she rears up and says something to the effect of "GIVE ME THE JEWEL!". The very last frame of this scene for some reason missed being edited. :o

As was mentioned before though there really wasn't much to edit. There never were any nipples and she wasn't very voluptuous to begin with. That Snow Queen on one of the Sailor Moon In-Flight movies was bigger.

Back when NG Evangelion's US dubbing rights were up for bid, Saban almost got them. Imagine how bad that would be! Luckly ADV outbid them and now we don't have to worry!

From what I remember, Inu-Yasha's mother's breasts aren't as big as Mistress Centipede's, and I don't really remember seeing anything revealing, so we shouldn't have too much to worry about. If they do edit anything, it might be like what CN did with Gren's shower scene in "Jupiter Jazz Part 1". But hey, what do I know?

I think LFV said it best when he called them "Man pecs".

When it comes to nipples then I would understand it if they edit them out,but if it is just "Barbie doll" nudity then there shouldn't be a problem,no matter the size.

Maybe in future episodes Viz will keep them at their original size and just edit the nipples if they're there.

Btw,what do you people think of the "Man pecs" solution? to editing?Better than the bikini solution?

Well I thought the show was pretty good. Although I thought it was kinda strange when the demon took a bite out of Kagome, how it didn't seem she felt any pain at all. Or maybe she did. Oh well. I thought the VA's did a good job. Although when I heard Inu-Yasha talk I couldn't help but think of Ranma. But I think Cox's voice does a better job for Inu-Yasha than Ranma.
I was really puzzled as to how they were going to edit mistress centipedes breasts as well. I mean I'd rather they not, breasts aren't really a big deal to me, but I guess some people could gripe about it. Thank God it was not a digital bikini.


Overall I thought it was good, and I think it is a nice edition to Adult Swim.

At first I thought that too. Same goes for the demon lady in the 2nd Sailor Moon movie. CN probably deemed this woman "too human looking" or something, whereas Mutio in Blue Sub 6 is some kind of fish woman, and the monster from SM speaks for itself.

Whoa dude. Calm down. Take your pill. AS wasn't made JUST for Williams Street shows. In fact, ASC only has 4 WS shows. The non-WS shows outnumber them. And Toonami is a block for kids and tweens. I think fans of anime everywhere would be royally pissed if ASA were to disappear (except for the purists).

I'm glad they didn't cut that. We saw some more Faye fan-service in "Jupiter Jazz Part 1", so maybe it was intentional by WS.

Well, I dutifully watched every episode of Inuyasha (fansubbed or course) and to compare it to the English version, I think its kind of funny that Richard Cox who was Ranma's voice is now Inuyasha's voice, considering that Yamaguchi Kappei who is Inuyasha's japanese voice made his debut in Anime business being Ranma's voice too. The only complaints so far that I have of Inuyasha is that old lady - Kaede has this stupid old-english accent, I don't speak Japanese but I am pretty sure that original Kaede didn't speak old Japanese, so I don't know where it came from. And Inuyasha, in Japanese, also speaks in Tokyo slang which is very popular among teenagers in Japan, and its kind of rude too!
The final complaints are that they manage to mispronouce Kagome, Kikyo, and Kaede's names, and it looks like those voice actors are asleep, in Japanese version they scream, cry, curse aloud, here they manage to speak calm in most deadly situations. But speaking of editing, as long as they leave the bloody battles intact (that by the way showcase that Inuyasha is not kiddy show like Ranma) it will be fine with me. I mean Inuyasha doesn't have that many nude scenes.

Inuyasha is quite the crass little jerk. But most of the youkai in the series are. Even Sesshoumaru isn't quite as polite as you'd expect him to be. ^^;;;;

sorry if most of you found my "inuyasha's mother" post as a spoiler, I tried not to, honestly, I don't remeber most of the ep and it was VERY early on in the series defineitely within the first 12 eps, probably even 6 , but my vieing schedule of it was sparse at best, my local anime club only met once every 2 weeks and I missed a few eps due to not being at college for chistmas break.

so if that post offended you, I'm sorry, but honestly, I doin't remeber anyhting monumentally plot-centric about that ep

Talking only about Inuyasha.
AC already shows unedited clips of violence and blood, if there is an editing it is almost unnoticeble, of course it may change as Inuyasha grows more violent and bloody. I think in terms blood, maybe the most extreme cases (SPOILER) Seishoumaru and other monster continuously piercing Inuyasha through using bare hands need to be edited. In terms of nudity, while Inuyasha always plays with scenes of almost naked character, they actually never bared it all, so to speak. And profanity, almost all words, except of course the extreme vulgarity aka "Osbournes" and "South Park" should be left unedited. I mean in episode 2, Inuyasha in English called Kaede something like "old woman about to die anyway" in Japanese it was "you hag" AC could have left it in, its not that much of profanity

So, they shrunk the demon-chicks breasts in the first episode...in the second episode, the few "review" scenes from the first episode, we see the full on boobs. And to those who haven't read the Manga(I mean the REAL manga, straight from Japan, not the Viz translation/edit), the demons all do have nippies. But they dont in the anime. Anyways...I'm just wondering why the second episode wasn't edited...

Oh...and I miss Inu-Yasha's cussin'. He's got a fowl mouth...and yet the dub....there's no cussin'. Awww...how sad. In reality, he's not saying "you hag"...heh...he's using the 'b' word. Also, the fansubs sucked(at least the one I saw), the sub is nice, but I do enjoy this dub, concidering they made it with the American Ranma dub in mind....hehe... ;)

THEY DO HAVE NIPPLES IN THE AMERICAN VERSION!!!!

Viz has always showed nipples in their manga.

All viz does is slightly rewrite the scripts so they can fit in the bubble and remove major cuss words.
