Can't get to Anime Expo New York to see the first episode? How about the next best thing?

Our first glimpse of this incredible-looking series in action:
http://www.sa.sakura.ne.jp/~straydog/oshii/gits-sac/gits-sac-trailer.mpeg

Note that you might need to save it to your hard drive (right-click, "Save Target As..." in IE) in order to get it to work. Also note that it's rather large, clocking in at about 35MB.

But you won't regret taking the time to download it. :D

Boom boom! :D Very nice looking series! I definately can't wait to see this on AS, hopefully this fall/winter. BTW was that the actual OP song or just a song for the trailer? Either way I think it fit very well. Anyone know who it was?

If the quality of the storyline and writing is as good as the animation, this will be just what ASA needs.

Oh...my...gosh. Adult Swim is going to show that? Excellent! Sweet! Teriffic! Bloody good! It looks nothing like the movie, which is partially a good thing (no sudden ripping of shirts off so we can see some gratuitious nudity). Big kudos to Bandai for realizing what a kick-a** series they picked up before it was complete, and major, major kudos to Cartoon Network for getting the rights to this show for Adult Swim.

And hey, any anime with Yoko Kanno can't be bad (except for maybe "Brain Powered"...)

Yep, it says so right on the trailer in English, right after they stated it's based on Shirow Masamine's manga. Geez, this woman is incredible. She's done "Vision of Escaflowne", "Macross Plus", "Cowboy Bebop", "Brain Powered", and now "Ghost in the Shell TV"...and none of them are alike. What music style hasn't she done?

Wow.
Any negative thoughts of mine have been erased just by the animation and the Yoko Kanno fact.

I can't wait.

Thanks,Andrew :)

Btw,do you think this show will be the one that will replace CowboyBebop. We all know that it needs a rest and I can't think of anyother show more fitting than GitS:SC to fill CB's shoes.

Odds are it'll replace a gundam. I don't see them replacing bebop for a while.

Ahhhh man I just saw it. It was awesome. That thing looks so cool and the music in the backround was great to. Can't wait for it.

Wow... simply amazing. That is one gorgeous piece of work right there. Even if the show sucks, it'll be worth watching just for the eye candy. And ain't no shame in that.

I can't wait for December to roll around, this looks like a really cool show. I really liked those spider tanks, they reminded me of the Tokoyo defending robots from the Akira Manga.

That music rocked! The animation was unbelievable! Now all we need is some great plot and this can even beat Cowboy Bebop!

While I love Cowboy Bebop and such, I don't want Gundam to end. Especially since no one hadn't seen the last episodes! (Except for those who got the DVD's). So...uh...no! :p On the other hand, they could take out Outlaw Star, seeing the fact that this series REALLY needs a rest and it could air in Toonami.

There is another possible problem besides the plot, unfortunately. Not only will it require good ploting and dialogue to oust Cowboy Bebop, but it will also require another thing that Bebop is famous for -- namely, an excellent dub.

Now, I have no doubt in my mind that Animaze VA's will be handling this. However, bear in mind that this is being produced by Production I.G. These are the same people who demanded that they be allowed to "handle" the dub of Love Hina. They used Animaze actors. It turned out mediocre at best, horrible at worst.

Hopefully, they'll keep their mitts off this one.

They were probably referring to Gundam 0083, which I'd guess has had enough runs by this point and certainly will by December. Of course, there's supposedly TWO series coming down the pipe for December, so something else will have to get the axe, too. But I seriously doubt it'll be MSG. They have to know the kind of backlash they'd cause with a move like that.

Crap, it looks like it's been taken down. I can't find it elsewhere just yet, but as soon as I do, I'll get you all a working link.

In the meantime, anyone have some extra webspace just sitting around? :(

MSG won't be pushed off, nor will Cowboy Bebop.

ASA has gotten about equal ratings from 11:30-1 am (0.8 each). So if they want to move a show, then it's no problem to them, as long as the important shows stay within the first two hours.

Thus..

11:00 - InuYasha
11:30 - Yu Yu
12:00 - Cowboy Bebop
12:30 - Gundam 0083
1:00 - Mobile Suit Gundam
1:30 - Outlaw Star

Will become...

11:00 - Ghost in the Shell
11:30 - InuYasha
12:00 - Yu Yu
12:30 - Cowboy Bebop
1:00 - Gundam 0083
1:30 - Mobile Suit Gundam

Will become...

11:00 - The Big O
11:30 - Ghost in the Shell
12:00 - InuYasha
12:30 - Yu Yu
1:00 - Cowboy Bebop
1:30 - Mobile Suit Gundam

The series that are NEW or CONTINUING on Adult Swim, will always stay in the first two hours. Cowboy Bebop will likely get pushed to 1 am, and may even get bumped off if anything else were to get acquired.

Ugh...Watching that thing download on a dial-up connection is like watching a 400 pound man run the Boston Marathon.

However, once it did finally finish loading, it proved to be well worth the wait. This looks incredible; I really love the style. I now have really high hopes for this show, and it will likely prove to be a huge leap for ASA.

But what were those things that one guy had on his eyes? The guy, who appeared to be the main (human) antagonist, had two little, white, puck-shaped thingies over his eyes. Futuristic contact lenses, maybe?

randomguy

Bateau's got cybernetic implants in place of eyes... maybe that's what you saw. Either they're replacements for lost eyes, or upgrades... I'm not sure myself.

Was he in the movie? I don't remember him. (But, then again, I don't remeber much about the movie).

Yes, Bateau was in the movie. He helped destroy the Fuchikoma near the end of the movie.

That makes two of us.

But anyhow, Bateau is the man. He was in the manga too, as well as the Playstation game (which, in my opinion, is the best thing to come out of the franchise). He probably gave the movie its best moment with the "stop with the angst, already!" line. God, I had waited so long for an anime character to say that... it was most gratifying.

The original server, as well as the others posted here, got slashdotted. A few folks tried to post mirror sites, only to get hammered by the extra traffic.

Try this link (http://www.anime.fm/download/gits-sac-trailer.mpeg) for size.

Anyone know what the basis of GitS:SAC is going to be. I've seen the movie so is the series gonna be about another terrorist-type thing.

Mynd Hed

I'm assuming that it will be more closely based on the original manga (which the movie was also based on, although it took some creative liberties as well) but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Movies based on an entire anime series frequently take creative license with plot to sqeeze the story into 1 1/2-2 hours of time. X the movie is no different.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the movie for taking artistic license. It's going to happen when you attempt to squeeze a manga that runs for any length of time into 90-odd minutes, and I think Ghost in the Shell did an admirable job of it. I'm just mentioning one strong possibility for which way the series will go.
